That looks an interesting project YBE! I must have missed what you're actually doing
You are very welcome to the roof tiles - I have bags of them!!! Not sure what you could do with them as they're all broken - there are some good sized ones though but not many full ones. I'm happy to drop off a bag one day this week - PM me your address if you'd like that and you can get your creative thinking cap on! I can then drop more off if they're useful for you.
Don't think I'll be watering my garden tonight given the forecast for tomorrow! I'm hoping to get an hour in the sun pulling up some weeds and then I will walk the dog (who is looking rather handsome after his summer buzz cut!).

We’re having a swish wall built wm 👏🏻 I did a thread asking for further ideas/suggestions but I think it’s disappeared off the bottom of the page. I’ll have to update it really.Ah don’t be jumping bags of tiles about, pm me a few pics that I can show himself and see what he thinks
I don’t think it’ll matter if they’re broken seeing as I don’t actually have a plan yet ha haa!

pink_poppy said:That's a very nice sitooterie, Dusty. I love being outside - I think fresh air works wonders.
Aw, twopenny, that's awful about your neighbour. It must be bad if you're thinking about moving.... you can never tell what you're going to get when you move somewhere new.
The fresh air is half the story. Don't forget the sunshine, which helps us make our own vitamin D....Oh, hang on! Little sunshine = less vitamin D3, which is proven number 1 in our defence against viral infections.
Might there be a link there somewhere?
This is not medical advice. People should consult their doctor before taking supplements, though it's a toss up whether they'll also know the supplement that goes with D3 to counteract the possible down-sides of over-supply.
I agree, it's too soon to think of moving 2p, especially as it costs in the region of £10k, independent of any cost differential between current house and desired house. Then there's the known unknown of new neighbours, who might appear OK, until you find out they have a son who plays drum & bass all through the holidays, or pop in a 'lovely' Leylandii hedge!Rain didn't reach here properly until 17.00 so somehow we were out in all that lovely fresh air, not doing the hoovering and dusting, as expected.I thought the posh village's gardens were good value at £7.50 for 15 of them, plus an art exhibition and the church decorated too. Imagine my surprise when we walked around the corner in one of them and saw something very familiar. I think it was Bluey who posted the same grow house, spotted in her village! Or was it 2p, or pp? It was one of you!The toms inside looked to be doing OK.
PS Farway might notice the beans in a pot, peeping around the corner.8 -
It wasn't me sang Shaggy... Lovely big pot - I wouldn't mind one of them.
I've had lots of lovely Vitamin D this afternoonIt's been a gorgeous day and I've done a bit more gentle weeding (& a bit more hiding from the neighbour)...

I agree it's a nice pot, and a waste to just stick a few impatiens in it.
Not sure what the beans are in, or what's preventing them from blowing over in the wind. We were obviously meant to notice them!
As 2p is waiting to see some less usual plants, here's one. I believe it's Baptisia australis, and judging by the nibbles on the leaves net door, it looks usefully slug and sawfly- proof.Definitely warmer this morning after much overnight rain. We're promised 18c and no sunshine, which is fine if it gets the courgettes going; four plants and we're still keeping up with them!Anyway household nonsense and planning paperwork today, with the window closed, so I don't hear the weeds germinating!

That's a nice plant, Dusty, the flowers remind me of a cyclamen.
It's a lovely morning here, but rain is heading our way later this afternoon. We had a beautiful orange sunset last night with a waning crescent moon. I couldn't get to sleep and looked outside at midnight - it was a clear night and there were a few stars, plus I saw the ISS going over
No real plans for today, although I might do a bit more weeding before the rain starts. And maybe catch up on some sleep...'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Tipped down overnight, drying out a bit now it's moving oop Norf.Roof tiles, I can't find the photo now, but a year or so back, at Wisley, I photographed an Alpine display, where they had laid the tiles with edges up and leaving small gaps between the tiles.Into these gaps were planted alpines & rock lovers, like sedumIt looked good, the tiles attracted & kept the sun's heat, free draining and a nice focal or talking point.Beans spotted Dusty, beans were grown as decorative climbers before people twigged you could eat them, same as tomatoesI didn't pot on yesterday, rained & then I had “the shivers” for some reason, so it was nodding off in a chair time instead of potting on. I'm fine this morning and will attempt potting on if the world dries out.My Lucifer crocosmia are out, and looking good from my window, again if dry I'll try for a pictureEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

Not me that saw that gorgeous grow house thing either Dusty, so it musta been 2p
I really like your Baptisia australis - on first glance it looks a bit sweet pea-y but then it looks like that handful of trees in south america somewhere (?) that all those butterflies return to every year. Lovely
Ooh sunset + crescent moon + stars AND the ISS pp, that's a treatI've only seen it a few times but it gives me the shivers. Last time was when a bunch of us were sat in a beer garden and one of the guys who was with us said "there's people on that!" Nice fellah, he was a Mackem so they called him Geordie cos that's what passes for wit in deepest darkest Lincolnshire.
I was thinking possibly an Alpine rockery sort of something for the tiles Farway, I'm gonna look that up. I think the tall skinny one at Old Scone did it on Beechgrove recently, I could quite fancy one of them. Either that or maybe edging the lawn to stop it wandering into all the bare soil that's still sitting there my not full yet borders. Or perhaps a floor for my yet to be properly thought about sitooterie. Depends what size and shape the tiles are, and how many....
Do the shivers come with shakes..? Is it withdrawal now you've stopped listing for t'port?
You suvveners must be drying up a bit are you? It's rained here these last 9 hours at least, interspersed with drizzle and/or mizzle. Mild though, no wind really so the temps are holding up. The humidity needs to drop when the rain gets properly Oop Oop Norf to pp, I can't open my windows in this
When I was talking to Beloved Cousin on Sunday night I made the mistake of mentioning my umm possible lifestyle nonsense. Cissie is raging, she rang me this morning to see what's the matter with me that I've given meself diabetes, so she's booked a flight and will be here on Monday. Yes I am a fully growed person heading for 50, no that doesn't matter one wee bit. So I need to get me erse in gear and clear that back bedroom.I oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. Cissie sounds lovely, YBE. So sweet that she's rushing over to see you, even if you are fully growed
Have you heard back from the Drs surgery about your blood test appointment??
I mentioned the crevice/roof tile rockery thing a while back after seeing it on an old episode of Beechgrove. I'm pretty sure wort or taff (sorry, I always get them mixed up with them both having 4-letter names) used roof tiles for bordering or something similar as well??
I wasn't sure if it was the ISS or a satellite to begin with, I mean how lucky can you get to just look outside and there it is floating pastI did double check after it had disappeared from view and it was definitely the ISS. I love seeing it - it's just mind-blowing.
Glad the shivers have gone away, Farway. Looking forward to the Lucifer pic.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
I knew I came on here for something... can anyone identify this weed/plant, please??
If it is indeed a weed, can someone also suggest a decent weedkiller?? I've had Rosate 360 in the past (recommended a few years ago by Dusty) but that doesn't seem to be available now. I don't mind the stuff you have to dilute, just as long as it's effective.'A watched potato will never chit'...5
