Everything had to be viewed sideways, wobbling the whole unit to and fro to see the bits at the bottom. I picked a couple of packets and gave up, as I was partially blocking the entrance. Just the usual Lucullus chard for the hens and a courgette...
It's just reappeared the other side of the foyer and been refilled. Dear old Lucellus; the best chard IMO. Tender and thoroughly hardy. Made it through both 2010 winters even at minus 19, after a month under snow.
You obviously went for the more expensive courgettes, Dave. Mine doesn't sell the same varieties though.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -

Mine doesn't sell the same varieties though.Yup, that was it re location, but the door in question in my case was the inner one and nobody could get in and stay socially distanced from my trolley and rear end, which I now read could also be a problem:Mind you, West Devon is one of the very best places in the country to stay safe from others' flatulence.I wouldn't call 49p expensive.

'Morning all, frosty but sunny with a bit of a breeze. Not tried but I bet it's bitter out right nowI did get the seeds sown yesterday, Cosmos & 2 lots of nasturtiums.I must have had a premonition making me sow in modules outside because I upended a packet of nasturtium seeds & CBA to try & pick them out of the soil they fell into, sod's law states these strays will be gorgeous and the carefully nurtured ones from same packet will be runtsNumerus non sum2

My cosmos have started coming up in the greenhouse Farway. But I've just discovered that we have rabbits in the garden (we don't usually get them up here) so I may have to improve defences - particularly around the veg! My radishes have germinated in a pot, so it's probably time to sow another batch. And some of my OOD lettuce seeds are showing signs of life. I'll probably put a few in a planter and use the rest for baby leaves until salad season really gets going. The only seedlings that don't seem happy are some Arancia tomatoes. Although I think enough have survived given the size of the greenhouse!
I still haven't worked out where everything I'm growing is actually going to go...2 -
Frost again this morning. I'm fed up with the wet or cold. Give me a break!Still, it gave me the chance to move and put in some plants and I'm chuffed to bits so far.Even managed to arrange the honeysuckle that remains flowerless at the top of the fence to block the view from someones attic conversion window.It was okish temperature wise in the back. Still too cold for seeds though which is ok because I;ve so much to do first.Trying to decide whether to buy a standard lavender at 50% extra and slighly smaller than the others so I can be sure of my lavender hedge for the summer or risk having nothing in the gap of the failed one and wishing I'd stopped dithering.

Actual sunshine here for the first time for days, I felt rather like a troglodyte blinded by the daylight when I went for my walk today. Still bitterly cold though but lots of things have popped up in the last few days. Here are the first tulips in my local Botanic Garden which I finally managed to see after having fought the electronic booking procedure to a draw yesterday.
They're the earliest every year and when I see them I know spring is really on the way, the magnolias will be out soon and then the fruit trees will burst into blossom and it will be getting warmer and lighter every week.3 -
Very hard frost overnight but looking back on FB memories it was Beast from East three years ago at this time so small mercies I supposeSun's out now but blooming coldHad a bit of a fright yesterday, neighbour on one side was hacking at their Concord pear treeThey are not gardeners, they buy plants and never water them then buy more, dig up fruit bushes and let them die instead of replanting immediately, let the apples & pears drop and never pick or use them [I go scrumping
]
However the reason for my fright is their Concord is the pollinator for my wrongly labelled red pear, if Concord goes I'm stuckI checked this morning and all seems well, only hacked one side, near the clothes dryer. Phew.That's set me thinking about a Plan B should Concord vanish, obvious solution is plant one of my own but space is a premium now that I have more apples on the way, and time as well, could be a few years before a new pear flowersI'll stick head in sand and cross fingers for the momentSpotted this morning while on "pear patrol" my "Stanley" plum blossom buds are just showing white tips, I need them to stay calm for a few more days because storms & rain are due mid week and they need to keep their heads down for a few more daysThere seems to be loads of potential flowers on there, but it has always been good in that respectGF, those are nice early tulips, good to see things waking up, soon be time for Postmen wearing shortsNumerus non sum3 -
Lovely to see the tulips. I managed to knock the biggest bud of my clump when moving themIt's sort of bright, not too cold as the wind has gone but after yesterdays long haul in the garden I've lost my enthusiasm and need a break because the next four jobs are big ones too.Looks like I got away with moving a big sage bush. The frost was harsh this morning and I worried.I'll have to go out and put a moved currant bush in though. I wish I'd labled them. Not sure if it's red or black. Probably not such a good idea in a small garden as I won't get enough fruit to make anything lasting.Farway could you get an single stem pear to polinate? That would take up a lot less room.

A bit grim here, though the sun made a late appearance while I was chain sawing logs in the afternoon for winter 2023.A very quiet day; the main activity being two slurry tankers trekking back and forth along the road and a definite whiff on the wind from wherever their organic delights were deposited. If we are to be manured, I've not heard about it yet.1
