YBE, have a lovely time in WHitby. I was looking at the goth pics too, one day I might make it there for a weekend but I'm old school goth, not flashy steampunk goth or dracula goth. My black is like Nanny Weatherwaxes black, it's had a hard life and shown it what for. Sorry I keep callng you ybl too, yougn blue legs? young blue leaf? son't even know what was going through my head.Lovely poppy Dusty, that's the kin of colour I can get behind, as well as orange. I don't even know where the hated of yellow comes from. Hope your construction is going apace.pp, I'm liking your shadow puppetry there!Today is sunny and not windy! woop! This means a shower, another cup of tea and then the big boys boots come out to dig up the sage. It's in my head to get rid of it now whatever goes in there, and disturb the ants that keep farming aphids on my rose. I might have to move that too, like it or lump it, it's very spindly and obviously is not happy there. I love it, it has flame coloured outside petals that emerge as a red rose. I'll try and take cutting this year I think. And attempt more figs. Have a lovely weekend all!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi4

Fab poppy Dusty
- had no idea there were red ones - we have had the odd orange which was as far in that direction as I thought they went...

Arbs, it's good to look at what should be changed. I'd advise drawing up what needs to be moved and where because come winter when you can do it you'll have forgotten.Mind I did that, ever so efficient and then didn't do it.The new Helebore I planted has become a thug in just 2yrs and overgrown even a small shrub! Was hoping to move it this winter but the weather scuppered that.......but all plants are alive and thriving so it's more about control than what the plants want. Thanks for all the help and info re my rear wiper search. It's a 1999 Ford Fiesta Finess. Bought as a temporary soloution but goes like a dream and no worries about scratching it.I'll see if I can email Halfords as that's been mentioned to me 3 times. It's a 50 mile round trip to get to either in the area.I'm told they're on ebay but I have to wait till at least Thursday to ask for help in setting up a secure account and understanding it.At least the forcast is dry for a while. Lovely and sunny here so I don't want to be in on the 'puter. The area is overwhealmed on these holidays so locally we all stick to the house and garden till it's gone away.Love the shadow photo and all the others.I've been pain free for a week and managed a walk in the woods one evening for the first time in months. It may not have been a sunny evening but still soul refreshingAnd in a puddle nearby
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Warm & sunny so far, ideal for a BHLove the shadow pic PP, and the poppy pic Dusty, I never knew here were red ones, not that it matters, I can't get them to grow, of any colour, but a friend has them coming up like weedsHave a great time in Whitby YBE, one place I've never been but from what I've seen I think I'd like it-taff said:Today is sunny and not windy! woop! Have a lovely weekend all!I'll post a pic later in the next few days, but I noticed the forsythia cuttings I poked into a pot after pruning this year, some are alive and rest are dead twigs. But I do tend to overdo the numbers in the expectation a lot will not make it.If weather, and my back, keep fine, I hope to plant out Russian Sage & Achillea this afternoon, get those bees buzzing later in the yearAnother delivery in yesterday's post, from T & M, fuchsia plugs offer, large flowered trailing ones, which I'll grow on and then hope to have hanging from my railings while they await the inevitable vine weevil invasionI've potted them up and now in the conservatory to settle inThey are, Voodoo, Holly's Beauty, Peachy, Deep Purple and the old favourite Swingtime.

Perhaps Welsh poppies are a good example of floral perversity. They've always come up like weeds for us, on limey and on acid soil. I believe the originals of ours belonged to Mrs Dusty's Grandma.
2p, a quick Internet check suggests your rear wiper is 20" and stocked by these people I buy mine from:There will be adapters in the box to enable several types of fitting.Your philosophy re older cars is mine too. Mrs Dusty has a Ford Fusion, which is basically a Fiesta, and a well-known 'older person's' car. Not so well known is the 1.6 litre engine in ours, which makes it surprisingly agile, especially in the Traffic Light Grand Prix!Glorious sunshine here. Our builders have knocked off to enjoy their BH weekend, but all the heavy equipment remains. I've a feeling they expect to do more in a few weeks, and meanwhile, it's hidden away safer here than in their yard.

Walking friend and I are from the earlier era of scooters, and bright clothes. I'd better add, we'd nothing to do with the shenanigans that went on in seaside resorts on Bank Holidays.
Then, one summer, I was lured away to a land of bells and kaftans to become one of the flower children...!Been one ever since!

Sun still out, didn't do the planting out because I've run out of space down there, looks like the volunteer border will get a couple of unplanned extrasBecause I was itching to “Do Something” I opened up my Blood, fish & B packet and top dressed the going over daffs in their tubs, and the canna tubs.I have cannas
, well, one at least has survived & is above the surface. Once it will make a decent pic, I'll post it.
Was not a flower child, would have been a Teddy boy except I was still at school & not quite old enough, but did have droopy moustache, sideboards & silly baggy trousersEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
I love that vacant expression on your face, Dusty - flower power
taff, I think some of the Whitby 'Goths' just like dressing up. Whitby is home of Dracula though, so I don't mind them. I want to try the black icecream next time I'm there - my cousin raves about it.
Lovely pics, twopenny, I could just go for a paddle in that stream. What's the white stuff in the puddle?? Glad to hear you're pain free.
Your fuchsia plugs look healthy, Farway. Good news about the free crab tree too - I wonder who got your Golden Delicious and if they get to keep it.
I think my cut Saxon potato is heading for the fjords - it felt a bit squishy when I brought it inside. I'll still plant it up though because the bag is ready.
It's tourist h3ll here, so I've been catching up with Gardeners' World programmes. The last one I watched had a piece about Geums. I bought an orange one years ago that never ever got planted - it's probably long since departed this world in it's little plastic pot. Does anyone here have any?? I'd forgotten how nice they were
It's a bit grey out there today, but still dry. I probably should have been outside in the fresh air, but have felt a bit delicate today due to too many squashed red grapes last night...'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -
@pink_poppy I have quite a few Geums, not out here yet but I will take some pics when they are
One of the few things that thrive in the border behind my patio (which is backed by a Leylandi monster hedge in the garden behind my fence)
Others that suffer the dreadful conditions are Heucheras, Aquilegias, sedums, Berberis Darwinni, Pittosporum, Hydrangea and Hypericum (which will grow anywhere in my garden)
I won't mention all the plants that have simply vanished never to be seen again
I have some gaps there but have more Aquilegias in waiting

Squashed grapes lol
like that one.
Dusty thanks for the recommendation. Recommendation was what I needed for unfamiliar t'internet search. I'll trawl when it's not sunny and see whats for the best. Sheesh it took a long time looking local! It's the catch thingy in the arm I need so was looking for a whole arm.
Did an afternoons clearing and turf digging and the bit that scuppered me was kneeling to plant up my giant cup grrrrrrrrrrrr........
So sitting with tea cake and a book in my sitoooterie with sun and view of moors.
Popps, the white is light reflecting off the puddle.
Every year there's 3 big puddles alongside the river alwas full of fat tadpoles. For once I hope it rains shortly because it's shrinking.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
