Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I’ve decided my little seedlings are big enough to pot on now, they’ve had long enough and just need to try harder.Himself is clearing out his wardrobe. A lot of his clothes …don’t meet in the middle any more….
so they’re going to charity.
If you’re ever missing your cat Arb I can supply a replacement - it’s a bit glarey though -Looks like it could just leap right off the fence and take your face off.Aye that thumb story, I couldn’t work out the mechanics of it either. Well the only way it must have happened isn’t what the bbc saidI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Phew, I’m roasting 🥵
I’ve just filled 5 bags with 10cm compost - 3 chitted potatoes In each one and then covered with another 10-15cm of compost. This is what the YouTube video said, so that’s what I did 😂 I’ve added some BFB and gave them a good watering, apart from the 5th bag that’s still uncovered. That one is for the huge baking potato I found today. I decided to cut it into 3, but then read that you’re not supposed to plant them until the cut bit scabs/scars to prevent disease. I’ll give it a couple of days and then cover with compost. I did dip each cut bit of potato into some wood/peat ash as I read that was beneficial - we shall see 😂
I’m hoping that the bags I’ve recycled are going to be okay - I made plenty of holes in the bottom of each one with a Phillips screwdriver, but can always add more if I need to.
Voila!!...

Looks good to me - but when you're actually planting that potato you cut, you're supposed to put the eyes pointing upwards. No idea what difference it makes, but it seem to be something everyone agrees onI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4

, but never mind, there's a good GC in the village, with yummy café https://fairweathers.co.uk/https://fairweathers.co.uk/

I think seedlings are "sticking" these days due to the poor peat free carp we have to use, my guess is all the nutrients wash out at the first watering.Clothes shrink with age, mine have done the sameHad update from T & M ref tree, they wanted photos, duly sent off and have got robot reply, so now waiting for human responseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Thanks, AR, they're just that way up until the cut edges dry out, then I'll turn them over so that the eyes are facing up before I cover them with more compost. I'm glad you think the bags look good - it took me ages haha'A watched potato will never chit'...6

ArbitraryRandom said:pink_poppy said:After reading Less & AR's posts, I clearly have a lot to learn about growing potatoes... Mine are still chitting away upstairs.Me neither/too!My rationale was that I had (here and on another forum) quoted the thing about indeterminate potatoes growing in ever-increasing layers being a myth (based on what I felt were the more reliable sources) without having actually tested it myself...Apologies to everyone who doesn't enjoy seeing lots of pics of bags, bins, etc with (mostly) bare compost in - seems to have started a trend... I will try for a bee bum or something pretty next!7

I don’t mind seeing (& posting) bags and pots of compost - it’s a sign of things to come, hopefully 🤞 A pretty poppy from me - out this morning (minus bee bum)😉'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
