pink_poppy said:I love that vacant expression on your face, Dusty - flower power
It's tourist h3ll here, so I've been catching up with Gardeners' World programmes. The last one I watched had a piece about Geums. I bought an orange one years ago that never ever got planted - it's probably long since departed this world in it's little plastic pot. Does anyone here have any?? I'd forgotten how nice they wereThe vacant expression was posed, I think! I was well past my hippie freak-out-by date and the yellow sticker when that was taken! It was probably a themed disco or something in the 80s, judging by the specs and the curtain behind me. I'll remove the photo before the other 'Mods' return on Tuesday.Geums, madam? Certainly, we do those in red. Purloined this one from MiL, so not sure of the name, but it might be 'Blazing Saddles Sunset'Edit: I've just spotted the tadpoles, 2p. Your lovely stream photo reminds me I had more to post from the walk I did in that funny county next door....and boy, did I find something funny-peculiar!!! More tomorrow....my fermented Humulus lupulus is calling from the direction of the barbie, much the same as the squashed grapes attracted the attentions of pp, I expect!
The two most important days of your life are: the day you were born, and the day you find out why.8 -
I really need to document my plants
Geums, I definitely have Mrs Bradshaw and Totally Tangerine but there are others, maybe Mai Tai
I also think I have gaps then Houttuynia pops up
I put Ajuga in at first to suppress weeds round 3 sides of the patio but it did not suppress weeds it just hid them and strangled other plants so I am slowly trying to remove it
It's hard work as I have 3 bordering gardens round the patio, 1 with the Leylandii, one who has done nothing for years so I get dandelions galore and shade from overgrown trees and shrubs and one who cuts their grass but doesn't strim the edges so grass and weeds come through my side but are rooted in their side
I don't mind weeding but I hate the endless job of weeding neighbours weeds
I have family with walled gardens and this seems to stop next doors weeds syndrome

But how beautiful dandelions are Pas!Yes, I know. I weed them out myself too but I love them out in the wild :-)

Dandelion seeds really are beautiful, twopenny - fab pic. I missed the tadpoles in the puddle - I'll add specs to my list of ailments.
Totally tangerine sounds familiar, Pas, I wonder if that's the Geum I have/had. The label is probably still in the pot somewhere - I'll see if I can track it down tomorrow. Very annoying about neighbouring weeds.
Lovely red Geum, Dusty. It's definitely a plant I need to track down here.'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Whitby was good, not too many people, and only a few goths. We checked before we went that it wasn't a goth weekend because you can hardly move for all the people when they're on. The weather behaved itself too - cloudy and cool ish with a bit of a breeze but at least it was dry We didn't go to a single charity shop or garden center cos we spent up in the RNLI (got a new toy, fits nicely with the retro theme, I'll have to get a pic of it). If you're after a change of scenery Farway I'd recommend Scarborough or Filey. Scarborough is more faded grandure and Filey is quiet and pretty and gentle. Gawd there's been some money in Scarborough way back when, beautiful buildings and wide avenues, the ironwork on bridges and benches etc. Hilly mind but they all are.
Lovely pics as always - your river one was cool and bucolic 2p Glad you're a bit nearer to getting wipers without having to buy a new car or a pack of 24 ha haa! Damn that lovely big cup for scuppering your pain-free-ness
I don't have any geums pp, I could fancy some though. Dusty's one looks like a fancy decorated poppy. Himself had one of those ice-creams - Black Vanilla - and they're teeth itchingly sweet. This from the man with the palette of a 12 year old.
Don't worry about what you call me taff, I know what you mean. Funny I saw in a bookshop window yesterday a book about a cartoon dog with very definite eyebrows - his name is Bluey
Need to do some gardening today, I've those rasps to magic up some room for and plant, and the Oracle has given me a very pretty aquilegia but I don't know what I'll do with it. The slugs have enough to be going on with out there and I'm running out of nice pots
Forecast is dry all day, mild and cloudy, tiny bit of breeze and a high of 17' late this aft. They say.In 1811, nearly a quarter of all the women in Britain were named Mary.7 -

'Morning folks, a bit cooler & dull with a cool breeze, I hope Taff has a coat for today's GW fest. at Beaulieu.YoungBlueEyes said:If you're after a change of scenery Farway I'd recommend Scarborough or Filey. Gawd there's been some money in Scarborough way back when, beautiful buildings and wide avenues, the ironwork on bridges and benches etc. Hilly mind but they all are. After I retired I decided to see parts of UK I had heard of but not seen, Like Hadrian's Wall, Lake District etc. Made sense to me, sort of bucket list stuff, having seen lots elsewhere in the world but not in my own country. So I used all-inclusive coach holidays, which saved me trying to find parking in unknown towns /cities, driving, sorting out accommodation, should I have another pint with my pub lunch? etc etcI liked Scarborough, even though it was stormy on the day I was there. I think I saw what I wanted to, and in case you were wondering, I did have a second pint for lunch in the Lord Nelson, near the pier.I think I want Geum now, not for me, you understand , for DD, she has a corner with leylandii next to it, I reckon one would go there if they can survive. If I spot one, I may get it.If it brightens up, I intend to weed the pots ready for the tomatoes.I Chelsea Chopped the sedums yesterday, although a tad early for chop they are rocketing away with the rain we've had, looking better now and will soon get back to normal looking and not hacked about.twopenny said:But how beautiful dandelions are Pas!Lovely photo 2P,Here's my pretty weed photo, taken yesterday

I also missed the tadpoles, pp. Also, like you, I have tinnitus, but mine's a variable high-pitched form I can usually tune out. It didn't stop me hearing a skylark again this morning, or miss the cries of two swallows whizzing past last night. I'd given up on them. We've had house martins for a short time, but the swallows that typically accompany them were nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they knew conditions weren't favourable? I don't want to make wild predictions, but it seems the weather is set to be warmer for a week or two.Dandelions in the neighbouring fields here are constantly invading the garden. And who owns the fields? Us!Here's the rushing stream photo 2p's picture reminded me about:And here's what was across the road...Spooky, or what? The fact that the lanterns were lit up in broad daylight somehow made it extra creepy! The two most important days of your life are: the day you were born, and the day you find out why.8

Here’s my contribution to the pics -
New toy (I’m unnecessarily giddy about this)Welcome to Yarkshire -His Holeyness enjoying the (unforecasted) sunshine - indolent swine -And some pretty little somethings at the side of the road yesterday. They looked to be diddy snapdragons but I don’t know. Nice though, and attractive wall too -I think I’m getting beyond wanting all your flowers and benches (not yours 2p, I’d have your stool in a New York minute!) What I want now is everyone’s streams, and that cottage, and money to do it up. What’s that saying about dreams expanding with knowledge…?In 1811, nearly a quarter of all the women in Britain were named Mary.8 -
That cottage looks like it could be lovely with a bit of tlc.......
My imagination is running riot already - and I haven't done this one yet, in 5yrs.viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
