None of those dogs looks fat to me either 2p, they look patient and content. Your one looks like - I'll just sit here and guard my mistress and then a ham sandwich will appear out of nowhere like it always does and I'll be ready like I always am
You beat me to it with your snowdrops. I was talking to Cissie last night and she said the bulbs she potted up a wee while ago are starting to come through and it'll not be long 'til they're flowering. They got a proper battering over there from Isha, but Donegal was getting it worse she said. Poor souls they always get it up there.
How's the head this morning then Dusty? Slower pace today is it ha haa! Nice to catch up with everyone on your not-here-yet significant birthday?
I really like your stones and coins Arb, you've a knack for that. You'll have to put up pics of yours pp when you do some
Blowing a proper hoolie out there but the worst is over us I think. No damage here or power cuts *hooray* Is everyone else alright?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
My standard lavender hedge is down
Ripped itself from its moorings of wire attached to the wall. Snapped at the roots.
As it was infected which didn't seem to be getting any better I guess thats it gone.
I've been looking around for a replacement but hadn't decided. Can't find the suggestions people made either. There was a good one for quick growing, bee friendly one and thought it was safely noted.
Bit jumpy last night, sounded like something being blown at the windows. This morning no wind but it's started up again. Blackie is out so it must be easing up.
Haven't checked the news but heating and leccie still working here. Fingers crossed for the rest of the country.
How's the toes Bluey?
At least it's a relatively mild 8c and dry and bright for the moment.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

We had a powercut last night for about 4ish hours I think? Power came back just as my laptop battery was dying and I was heading to bed, so could have been worse
The lid came off the compost (shifting the three bricks on top). I can't see any damage in the garden/to the new trees - but I also can't see any of the bulbs I planted coming up. Hopefully they're just lazy and not dried out/rotten when they went inI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.6 -
Toes are all but sorted now thanks 2p. I'm sorry about your lavender
I'm sure someone on here can point you towards a good replacement. Did you have a specific one in mind or...?
Blackies are ok here too and I've a few of the wee birds coming in to feed, so hopefully they all survived. No abatement in the squirrels either dagnammit. It said on CountryFile last night that if you sprinkle a tiny bit of chilli powder in your bird seed it'll repel the squirrels but birds won't mind it. Is that true is it?
If you're in for a power cut Arb, that's the way to do it eh!
Mild here too and dry-ish air so I've a wash out and another on. Just checked my phone for the temp (7') and apparently it's for starting raining in 13 minutes. Swines.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Nothing to report here, except the odd clap of thunder from a storm passing slightly north of us.
The power has stayed on and there's no obvious damage. Looks like we shall have these heavy showers passing through all day.

Family had arranged for a friend I've not seen in ages to be present. As he's also supporting someone who's suffered a particularly sad bereavement, we had a lot to talk about, but we know the value of a good belly laugh too!
I would be happy to find any of those stones or coins, though I'd probably leave them for someone younger to discover. It's the little, off-the-wall surprises little people remember."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -

Thank you Dusty! I did wonder but was panicking slightly.
The name berberris means painful thorns to me and deciduous but I'll look it up.
Yes, everyone I know seems to have problems and bugs etc so no belly laughs.
My good laugh (table tennis) has been cancelledjust as I have a free week so I'm listening to Wordaholics with Giles Brandreth and any other funny podcasts I can find today.
Glad things are shorting themselves out for you Bluey, good drying day with the wind but you may need a few extra pegs
I'll mess around, get stuff to the dump, see if any of my willow trellis will fit the lavender gap.
If it wasn't uprooted I'd try cutting it right down and see if anything occoured. It's a tough plant. You never know.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sun's out & blue sky now, wind has dropped a lot but very windy of course last night, the only damage seems to be next door's blow way plastic greenhouse is, yet again, listing heavily to starboard.Shame about the lavender 2P, I suppose if you have a “spare space” you could bung the snapped root bit in there and wait & see while you look around for a suitable replacement?Nice painted stones there ARBs, I've left the one I found where it was for the time beingDD came round yesterday & did manage to cut back the old sedum & daisy stalks at the front, it's looking a lot less scruffy better now. DD has pencilled in a return visit nearer to Spring to clear some back garden dead vegetation, like the runners & nasturtiums. Not hard work, just not as easy to do when lacking bendiness & puffEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

The name berberris means painful thorns to me and deciduous but I'll look it up.Berberis darwinii is evergreen. It is prickly, though not as bad as most others, so I'm prepared to tolerate it to get the other benefits. Like you, I don't want to go around having to watch out for pickles all the time.Heavy showers accompanied by very gusty winds here, but few weather-related problems locally, it seems. Tomorrow looks similar, unfortunately.

It was extremely wild and windy last night - I honestly expected some roof or fence damage, but there's nothing obvious (just my bird feeder at a strange angle). It's still wild now, but the forecast is slightly calmer overnight, then Storm Jocelyn arrives tomorrow I think.
