Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Here is actually 9! With a low of 7 overnight. Tusky forecast is 9-11 ish until I'm back on Friday which will make me feel less guilty/concerned about knocking the heating right down while I'm away
A bit of cooking and baking today (so I have some snacks for the train in case I'm stranded!) and a final varnish on those rocks if it's still dry out there in an hour or so. Sounds like the wind is up though, so might not risk it as they are. Then final packing (she says, knowing full well she's going to unpack at least once tomorrow to 'check nothing's missing'). Should be a nice quiet day.

Dull, mild & a tad damp. Thanks for PB précis YBE, I'll give it a go but suspect the accents may throw me with my hearing, I find I need subtitles on for some things these days.Last night on my flicking through I found The Lost King, great easy watching, loosely based on the true story of finding Richard III grave. Not sure of DS' Covid, all's quiet but with two teenagers I doubt it is, can hardly loll around feeling poorly could you? Dad where's my XYZ? etc.I have DD coming over later, may even get a tiny spot of gardening done
, she has volunteered to remove the dead sedum stalks at the front for me. Being low down, I'd be face down & bum up in the flower bed if I tried it.
Although damp, real rain not due until this evening so should be OKEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -

Apparently the worst is coming between 18.00 and midnight, but it'll get lively before then, I expect. Anyway, we'll be back before nightfall, as usual. Avoiding the potholes is important, and although we know most of them, they're hard to spot in the darkness and rain.
Casting around for a photo this morning, I can only find ones of rats (we know where they're living now) or one of Mrs Dusty wandering deep in thought through the weird sculpture garden. It was no contest!

I watch a lot of things with the subtitles on Farway, and they're useful for PB. I'm not sure which area of Wales New Zealand Dublin Belfast the policeman is from, but that might be me being picky
I'll add The Lost King to my list, too.
Fab pic Dusty, just wants a couple of labs and a spaniel bouncing around in there and it'd be perfect
Arb here's my trick when I'm packing. Lay your open suitcase on the floor and put your folded clothes in piles on it. Itms. So you can see what's going in and where and you don't have to hump stuff in and out to check and recheck the thing you just looked at. Tops in one pile, bottoms next to them, smalls on the lid, smellies next to them, shoes round the edge
Breeze is picking up here, properly windy tonight and tomorrow, possibly. It's damper out there but the sun is still going some. My wee birds are full of the joys too, it's really quite Spring-like hereI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Wow a whopping 11.5c here mid dayish.Doesn't really feel warmer inside unless the heating is on but every bit helps.I've eyed the garden, eyed the grey sky and damp roads. May just get a little pruning in but feeling very sundayish after a long social day yesterday.Lovely walk pics Dusty, yes I long to get out on the cliffs around Mortehoe and wide open spaces but unlike MP I don't have a camera man and medic following me so wet and slippy with high wind isn't ok for an decripit person with a doddy legIt will have to wait.Yes, twittering birds here too. Signs of the Blackbirds but they'll still very cautious.Trying to find relevant photos without downloading the recent ones. I keep saying I'll do it but taking a 'holiday at home' isn't as easy as it seems.Abs, the only thing I really missed out of my packing was weirdly - mascara and lipstick. Left my make up bag after titivating at 4am before a drive in snow to the airport.I used to have a check list printed out. Worked a charm other than that.So dogs Bluey - can't do the ones you mentioned but thought you'd like thisFriend organised a picnic after I'd ruptured and disc and couldn't make it far. Horner Water, the river is just behind me.A little more gentle in summer than it is nowAll sorts of fungi and wild flowers grow here and for a while it was my work to paint them. Some office eh?

Ooh I do like that 2p, and I love the colour of your blanket too!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

It's already a bit lively here, weatherwise. Heavy rain and gusty winds. I'm just back from seeing my DD and I was surprised how much traffic there was, considering we have an Amber warning. The fire is now lit and I might even put my PJs on.
Thanks for the painting tips, AR. I'll do as you suggest and get the cheaper pens, just to have a go. I'm not artistic in the slightest, but I think it's something that could be quite relaxing as a hobby. Have you painted some more or is it the monster stones you're varnishing?? I think if mine are any good I'll drop them off in places for people to find as I do quite like that idea.'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
The chubby one is mine. To be fair she was aged and spent her youth so skinny people were giving me nasty stares and wondering whether to report me for cruelty.Yes, kind thing to he did for me and still remembered. So went down to there today intending to walk but the rain came in early and that was the end of that.Looked to see how the magnolias there were doing and lots of nice fat buds. But this was a real surprise - a month early!

Hurrah, we're back! It's wet, wild, and I'm worse for red wine, but like poppy, I've lit the wood burner first in case the power goes off.
Now it's just a case of hunkering-down and hoping the tiles stay on the roof!
We only went 40 miles into Somerset, to a pub that's convenient for friends and family to meet up at. Although today isn't the day, it's a significant birthday for me soon, and we didn't know about Isha when we booked, or we'd have chosen next weekend!None of those dogs looks overweight to me 2p. They all appear patient and well-behaved. A pity you couldn't walk today, but there will be others, and glorious May with picnic weather is only just around the corner...."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." That's my excuse anyway.
