I came over all confident and decided to put a wash on, and it’s been doing the Hokey Cokey all morning cos it’s been raining on and off. Grrr.I guessed something to do with coastal erosion Dusty, I didn’t remember that was the same house you’d put up before
Thanks for changing the tune Farway :music: I’ve had a Duelling Banjos ear worm these last 4 hoursAre you well stocked for anvils for practising? Do I foresee a Xmas no1..?
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

I didn't expect anyone to remember the house because it wasn't mentioned here, but friend and I had quite a chat about it when we passed by. It looks spooky. There's a dolls house replica of the house visible in one of the larger windows, but that doesn't seem to show on the drone footage.
I just found it odd that a day after being uploaded, YouTube decide to show that particular video to me. I'm not normally a viewer of drone or abandoned house videos, and there must be hundreds of properties with drone footage they might have sent instead. And after that ungainly explanation, it's back to the fuchsia....B) I tracked down the cultivar 'Hawkshead' at Rosemoor. I think it's one of the parents of "Whiteknights Blush,' which poppy and I have photographed and uploaded here. You can see there's no pink, but a flush of green instead.Dry day in prospect for us tomorrow....say the drunks. Proof of the pudding and all that; in their case about 70% proof!

@Dustyevsky - very interesting choice of instruments, good music and great band name too. I enjoyed the bird sculpture but can't see myself shelling out for such things just yet. You're right that goggle knows everything about you especially if you have an android phone, mine gives me a monthly update on places I've visited and comments on whether any of the locations are new, almost makes me want to go somewhere it would find shocking just to see what it says.
@YoungBlueEyes - thanks for the tip about the Jesse Stone films, I really liked the books but hadn't realised they'd been adapted for TV so might have a gander. I agree about prefering musty salerooms to heaving Christmas market scrums, there's something very precious about what others have owned and the stories that things suggest to your imagination I think. I do wish inanimate objects could talk.
@Farway - if the singer really can tell the person in the flat below his is dancing then his building must be made of spit and sawdust! That moustache, oh I'm glad those have gone out of fashion, aren't you?
A dry not particularly sunny day here and another hour's work put in at my allotment before it got too dark and then as I cycled home it started spitting very lightly so no real respite from the wet here either.6 -
I did learn to play the spoons once upon a time. Was taught on a boat going through the Amazon rainforest but that's a story for another time
.
It's drizzle here now. The wild winds have just become strong winds and it's still in double figures, just.
I got to mow the front lawn. Took 2 goes it was so long and thick!
The washing didn't dry here either....even inside it's been hanging up for two days.
Still can't get to the soil but may have a go at a couple of pots of bulbs if poss.
Been considering a small Christmas tree this year. Tescos are£25 but this is a case of waiting and watching. They're loosing needles already - unless damaged in transit.
The diy shop has some potted ones for£10 but they are a hillarious shape.
Been reading and enjoying the photos.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It was the fashion and I grew it for a girlfriend, not because I liked it. Indeed, the way it filtered drinks and collected bits of whatever I ate was most unpleasant. Girlfriend and I broke up on a day trip to the seaside, after she pinched cutlery from a café by stuffing it in her socks. The fact that I had a huge road sign in my room saying 'Diversion' didn't occur to me at the time. I dare say if she'd bent and welded the cutlery into a bird shape, I might well have relented, but it would have been too late for the tash. That was shaved off the same night.

Sounds like she's been much more adventurous than most/all of us! One day we really will have to all meet up
Do you have a real tree every year 2p?
Hawkshead looks like a fuchsia and a snowdrop had a babby Dusty, I like itThat's one thing I do miss is snowdrops. We used to have a front garden full of them, well them and English bluebells, and they really were a sight for sore eyes. What about your moustache then? Was it a long twirly jobber that you waxed and everything...? Like those Indian fellahs on QI...
I really like the Jesse Stone films, good enough to watch every time they come on imo. But I've never read the books so I can't tell you how they compare. My sister loved the author (Robert B Parker I think?) and the films. Generally speaking I'm not a fan of a film from a book, only exceptions are Doctor Zhivago and maybe Captain Corelli. Report back gf
Miserable out there this morning, thick drizzle and rather windy. Drunkards say rain all day, Ventusky says rain for another couple of hours ish. Thank god for laundrettes, that's what I say. I've not done a stroke of gardening but I really truly have to get out there today, even if it's only for a tidy up. It's a bit hard to know what to do when my books say one thing and reality is different. How can I turn horse poo or whatever into my soil when a lot of my bulbs are coming up? I don't wanna chop my roses down cos they're still flowering. Like that. *sigh*I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

Taking advantage of the a musical segue, I'm hoping to get out this weekend - I've got tickets to listen to Fascinating Aïda on Friday, and I think (maybe, perhaps) it's going to be dry so I might (just might) be able to wander around and do some early Christmas shopping - early for me, that is. The shops have been trying to sell christmas for more than a monthhttps://youtu.be/p2MNcHN-woc?si=dD_T5Yd4YTXiYkvG
Oh, YBE, first bit of Christmas shopping done yesterday - I ended up buying two of those glass lady's gift vouchers for the workshops she does. My dad is a nightmare to buy for but likes trying/learning new things so he and mum can spend an afternoon learning to melt glass and it's almost guaranteed I'll end up with two sun catchersI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5 -
We have a stripey sky here this morning - long thin clouds. An aeroplane has just gone through one of them at an angle, so now we have a saltire in the sky
one of the hills in the distance had a pinky tinge to it first thing with a bit of sun on it - reminded me of Ayers Rock (I think it's gone back to the Aborigine name now but I can't remember the name). Anyway, it's looking like a nice day today.
I was doing the hokey cokey with the washing yesterday too - Ventusky told me 0% chance of rain all day so I had two lots outto be fair there was only one light shower and most of my washing was dryish by the time I brought it inside.
I was mortified yesterday when a neighbour had to come into our back garden for something - it's a tip work in progress... I keep saying to my DH about us getting it tidied for the winter months, but something else always comes up'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -

Dry here, as predicted, and having a few age-related warm-ups before going off to fill holes with concrete. That's something that seems to have been a consistent feature of life since those hazy days of the 70s. Back in those days, those who put the world to rights looked like this:The rest of us didn't have X-Boxes and iPhones, but we were easily distracted with wide lapels, flares, maxi skirts and very sub-standard miming on TOTP. Happy days!Err, did someone say "Three day week?""There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5
