YoungBlueEyes said:Did the random-o-meter give a menu of possibles for perusal?Sadly, no, nor any real hint about what might be on offer. I expect the person who should've received the letter is equally puzzled if they've been offered physio in place of surgery, and 50 miles away from where they're expecting to go!Even more grim out there now, but without your the wind your area is experiencing.EDIT: Just found a weekend weather forecast courtesy of a naughty man I follow from time to time. It questions the predictions coming out of MSM about the terrifying blast of Arctic air and snow allegedly heading our way. It will be interesting to see who turns out to be right!

Terrifying blast of arctic air is it? I must start watching news again, all I watch is Gogglebox and Only Connect and maybe Mastermind. Himself likes Bangers and Cash, nearly everything on Yesterday channel and war stuff in general. So I’m very behind on my msm terrorisings. Oh and I like QI no matter how old they are.I liked your vid, nice to see Lucy Worsley’s sister is making good use of herself
She got today’s weather almost quite a bit right - it is drizzly and cloudy and damp, I’ll update on Saturday how she did for tomorrow’s prediction.
Being serious for a minute - I don’t know that I’d be happy about my medical details being sent to someone else and getting theirs in return. I know the NHS is up the spout but that’s basic GDPR isn’t it?I got a good hour’s gardening done, tidying and titivating and weed pulling mostly. The not-even-drizzle wasn’t for stopping so I put on an old episode of Gerry Anderson’s show and just cracked on. There’s another recommendation if you’re looking for a good laugh, there’s a lot of his shows on BBC Sounds. He’s not the fellah that did Thunderbirds.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
No snow ever here of course, very sunny & mild when I went to Morries this morningLike Dusty says, water leaks in roofs are hard to spot, could be with the new roof you had it has sealed up previous draughts and now less fresh air gives condensation? Just a thought, hope himself spots something up the loft, but not daylightBox moths, seems we can make a nice collection of exotic pests now, moths, lily beetles & vine weevils. Lunchtime I spotted another pest import, one of my horde of grey squirrels acrobats on next door's bird feederDustyevsky said:I'm quite excited this morning. Mrs Dusty was due some more physio next month, but the appointment's come through on the NHS random-o-meter, and she's scored a plastic surgery appt in a completely different establishment and location.
Who knows? Many possibilities, surely? Maybe one of those right-angled bums you see on US Celebs?
Or how about pouty lips?
Hmm...on second thoughts, perhaps she should eBay it?
It's only a bit windy here 2p, but we have micro-rain of the sort that wets you through without being visible. I am supposed to be digging more holes, but I know someone who wants a cold frame, so I may start knocking one together. You and your superglued cut Bluey reminds me of a time when, aged about 10, I opened a high cupboard and a very sharp knife fell between my ring and middle finger, making an impressively deep cut.I was so terrified of having stitches, I just taped the two fingers together for a week or so. That worked too.
I can't think of a link to today's picture or ID them, but they were at Rosemoor a couple of weeks ago:I just ignored it and a week or so later I had "sorry your flight was rotten" apology with money off next time. I guess some disabled person turned up at Atlanta airport, minus wheelchair & even worse, no flightNice toadstools, a little forestDustyevsky said:IYou and your superglued cut Bluey reminds me of a time when, aged about 10, I opened a high cupboard and a very sharp knife fell between my ring and middle finger, making an impressively deep cut.I was so terrified of having stitches, I just taped the two fingers together for a week or so. . I don't think this is true, but I'm not chancing it, do not try this at home just in case
My Morries trip was OK, I thought I had struck gold when I spotted raspberry canes, but they were summer ones, good find with the currant Dusty, always worth a rummage in thereI did buy a dozen violas for £3, not the best of plants but the best they had & bird in hand etc because any day now it will be wall-to-wall poinsettias, wreaths and nothing elseNearly bought some roses, but decided on Quality Street this year, boom boomWho was it, Norman Vaughan? He’s not the fellah that did Thunderbirds. The invite was in Mrs Dusty's name; it was just the wrong treatment, and in the wrong place. She did have an embarrassing mix-up on inheriting a small sum of money earlier this year, though. The solicitors sent her another family member's letter and cheque as well as her own! Then, compounding their ineptitude, when informed of the mistake, they asked her to forward the paperwork to the correct recipient at her expense.
Luckily, the other person had inherited the same amount and there was nothing to raise an eyebrow about, other than the solicitors' behaviour. I wrote them a very special review on Google.
The Thunderbirds Gerry Anderson died 13 years ago. We have a tenuous family connection in the fact that one of our clan, a very skilled craftsman, was employed to build some models and sets. Then they would blow them up!!!The weather improved here, suddenly. We've even had a little sunshine; hence my late lunch."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Ok, no idea how I got hovering but it would be really useful at the mo
.
Dull but warm first thing, got to the beach at 10 and it was cold, windy and drizzly but by11'30 it was very warm and sunny.
Lots of Evening Primroses on the grassy pebbles. Saw a heron and egret together on the ponds. Beautiful!
Way to nice a day to be in so did lots of jobs that involved being in the sun
Got to take the good stuff while you can .
Talking of dogs, which we weren't, just been watching The Dog House where a lovely girl who'd suddenly got a horrible illness was presented with 3 ccockapoo puppies to choose from so now I'm sobbing like mad.Don't watch it Bluey! One Heron.........they were put off by the number of people looking. Must go back alone and have time to get a better pictureI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Farway, that was the dreaded death by tetanus Victorian scaremonegering. I can't even remember where I saw it but it was defintely as a teen...I've removed the last of the tomatoes and their mouldy stalks frm the greenhouse now [ don't know if they were mouldy but they were dry and when I did move them little puffs of dust flew off] along with all the self seeded borage and they're now on the raised bed for rotting over winter. Front garden maybe tomorrow for more of the same. I am determined to cut the grass this week and it hasn't rained for a few days so maybe tomorrow for that too. I've lost the seeds I had from Real Seeds but found the ones from Sea Spring seeds so swings and roundabouts...Two neighbours have told me to watch out for cold weather this weekend...Do I look that fragile?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

Must go back alone and have time to get a better pictureThere's nothing wrong with that picture.Totally agree about getting the good stuff whenever possible in one's 'mature' years. Although we may pass this way a number of times, there's all that teenage angst and midlife crisis stuff to be gone through first!
No herons in my recent photo collection, but I can do a kingfisher.Looks like another overcast day today. Lots of sunshine tomorrow, though colder. I'm torn between getting out for the 'good stuff' or pushing on with the polytunnel doorways."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -
Ok I won't watch it 2p! I like your picture, isn't that heron regal
Good weather for being on the beach, lucky you. The nearest beach to me is only a handful of miles away as the crow flies but it's a beggar to get to
I thought violas were alright Farway? Tough little sods and a bit of colour against the gloom. I'm wondering now if they're just slug fodder...
I was expecting an actual kingfisher there DustyI quite like that one mind.
I wouldn't have had you down as a delicate flower taff, I imagine you look like the woman in your avatar. Definitely a 'get cracked on with it' sort
Borage - that's another common thing that makes me smile. I had some in my last garden but I've not seen any round here sadly. It's not something I've seen on the seed packets stands either
The weather improved here yesterday too so I was out 'til it started getting dark. I think I got everything done, so other than maybe weeding that's it now. Doubt I'll see any plants I want. Who was talking about xmas trees? They've got them in Aldi £16.99. I think they were 6ft and they looked healthy enough. Inside they had poinsettias that looked decidedly less than healthy. Pale and limp, the flowers were a sickly pink colour...
Cold here this morning, not sure I would call it a terrifying Arctic blast though. It is breezy straight down from the north, but it's a lovely dry wind. Out to lunch with posh friend today - it's her birthday tomorrow so we're going to the Turkish restaurant in Big Town. YummyI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
Trouble is aldi is a 60 mile round trip
Besides a 6' one in my little place I'd have to sit among the branches!
Tried Lidl and Morries but they are useless. Ms has got worse by the week with empty shelves and barely any plants and all indoor. I envy you yours Farway.
In fact very little thats christmasy from any.
Taff, apparently it's going to be randomly cold tomorrow. May be worth looking out the thermals or doing the grass cutting then.
I so want that kingfisher Dusty! Thats so clever. I had a good look in case I could do it but that's big skill.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull but pleasant enough, due a frost everywhere tonight so they say, goodbye dahlias, goodbye Castor oil plants, and very goodbye Cannas, not too sorry to see you go, but you were a let-down, a floozy promise teasing me on while others flaunted their orange delights from the West CountryYoungBlueEyes said:

Funny you mention borage, I had some, self seeded and just grew around, but like yours it seems to have died away, I wonder if the global boiling has affected it somehow?twopenny said:Tried Lidl and Morries but they are useless. In fact very little thats christmasy from any.The local garden centre has trumped singing reindeer, they have real ones and a real Santa, for real money. Actually for the kiddies it is ideal but no good for just gardening, slightly tempted to try for real reindeer photos but will have to be midweek more child free daysForgot to say, boiler passed OK, though next year it will require more cash due to a cover gasket and anti corrosion fluid needed.Message from Evri delivery, my bulbs and Russian sage are on the way, they're just waiting for me to go out, and then they will deliver to leave a note saying I was out and package can be collected from their depot in Rickmansworth between 1100 and 1115 Tuesdays onlyWith the frost maybe tonight & tomorrow is forecast as bright & cold, if so I hope to get up the volunteer spot and plant up the pansies I've been nurturingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8
