Ahh Abs, what my Grandmother used to call 'a stroll around the estate' :D

Goldie I think you've done just fine! The same tomorrow and you've done twice as much so progress :) Looks good soil as said. Bonus!

It was raining all night and a massive wind came up and this morning. Everywhere sodden and the gardens not looking great with bits bought down by wind and the plants bowing under the weight of 10weeks of water from above.
Even some of the sheltered paving is showing signs of green because the magic stuff must have it's limits.

They've promised us a dry week next week - that's   been said before :/

Farway, that Russian sage looks lovely - but I looked it up and it says it dies down in winter??
Winter is when I need my 5ft growth of privacy where the lavender (just about) is so I can sit in my glass porch in my pink fleecy pjs and read on a winters morn. I just don't want to shock the tennis club or neighbours.

Bet Bluey didn't get out in the garden though. Should we run a sweep stake on it :D

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

  • I thought you were gonna say you'd bought that wee dog too Dusty. It's a smashing little thing, I hope whoever bought it loves it :)

You called it 2p, no gardening here. I was all ready in my sturdy walking shoes and mucky jeans and big warm jumper, working out a plan of action, when himself announced that he wanted to go to York to the christmas market :o so off we went. It was cold and damp and dreich and raging busy, naturally. The good thing about York is they don't allow stalls selling a load of old toot, they were interesting individual stalls each doing something different. And no american sweets etc in sight! :clapping: I've got 2 good pics (well, they're pics of good things. It was a bit point+shoot+hope cos it was that busy). I'd recommend going though, but only with a pocket full of money, and not on a Saturday

Your plot looks good gf. I hope the weather was and is kind so you can get cracked on. In Dreaming Spires land who knows what you could turn up. Beautiful pottery, some diddy wee tesserae perhaps, or jewellery bits. How's that for inspiration? Or have you any bribable yoofs that could do the donkey work...?

I'd have bought the special daff bulbs too Farway. Daddy was forever saying "you're better looking at it than for it", and it's right too. Fingers crossed they're worth the wait.

Did you get out for an airing Arb? If not hopefully you will today. How did your squash dinner go btw?

OT It's dry here but it may or may not be about to start raining in a minute or the next hour or at lunchtime. Ish. They've all given properly breezy (which it isn't) and mild (which it is - 10'). If it wasn't for the high humidity I'd have my windows open!
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

It's not raining, just dull while also brighter & breezy. Be a good day for wrapping up & strolling along the prom tiddly um pom pom and finishing up in caff with cuppa & a bacon sarnie

Lovely pics of not tat YBE, there are some very talented people around. I've been to York, and Christmas market there sounds like my idea of Hell, not the City, just the crowds. Once made the mistake of going to German Christmas market in Winchester, never again
An artist lady lives near me, she exhibits in places like Stately Homes, similar to Dusty's dogs I expect. Her stuff is more whimsical though, and even more Commerical, fairies and the like.
I have bought items from her, Covid face masks when the lockdown started :D , she turned her hand to making them, FWIW I chose ones with Spitfires on them, not fairies B)

From what I've read, it loses its foliage but still has twigs & sticks which maybe not enough to hide you from the Tennis Club

No gardening today, if it keeps dry maybe tomorrow it'll be suitable to prune the buddleia

I might have bought the dog, were it not for being financially tight until we achieve our building objectives. There's no clear price for the stuff we're doing, so estimating generously for it is sensible. It's not much fun being sensible, though! :|
Besides, we're still investing in living things, like trees, which will also give back much pleasure in the long term. Wee dog will go rusty quite quickly, and though still attractive in that natural form, he will go through the awkward half & half phase!
Here's a couple of his mates, pre-weathered and definitely out of our price range! :o
    OT: Windy and wet.

This pic is from a glass working couple - her name is in the bottom right hand corner. It’s a specialist something something and the hubby had to build his own kiln cos there’s nothing commercially available to do this sort of work. There were loads of good pieces but this is the only pic I could get. If you zoom in you can see it’s all tiny wee dots

I like that. Had pics of similar when DD2 was at Art College, but haven't a clue here they are now, unfortunately. Buried on an old hard drive, most likely! DD never did anything useful like this; it was mostly big 3D stuff you couldn't  hang in your sitting room, or something cooky, like clothing for trees. :D

  • I really liked it too, but I'm overly fond of tree-y things. I made sure to capture the lady's name though in case anyone else fancies buying one. There were loads of smaller bits too if that's a bit toppy on the budget. I've no idea what the leaves cost, that stall was on the street market and I was lucky to get as close as I did. I'm with you on the hellish crowds Farway, my heart sank an inch when himself suggested we go. We once (once) went to the German christmas market at Lincoln. On a par with York I'd say, but still really Not My Thing.

I like the boxing hares Dusty, depending on how big they are they might look well in my garden. And that wee dog, if that wasn't the only one. I think arty stuff would be easier than flowers'n'stuff out there, but budget doesn't allow. And I don't even know what those things cost! Suspect a chunky win on the lottery might be required....

I googled... and I don't have a lot of wall or cat safe surface space so haven't bought, but maybe tempted by a sun catcher once the spending on the garden is done :)
