I wonder what caused their shocked expressions...Price of RHS soft drinks?I like that sculpture even with it's Dr Who like figuresWelcome back wellies, a very nice gesture indeedRain has finished here for the week, no more due, just sunshine to give my strawberries the final shine. The plastic covers have kept the birds off and this morning I've uncovered them to let the sun on & dry them, then it's a photo shoot & scoff timeAnd at last watered the vine weevil killer into some pots, it doesn't go far for the money
, so I've had to be picky and keep to the primulas, a dahlia and a rose. The lilies got a sprinkle, which is all I had left by then
Once sun gets round I hope to plant my Helen blackberry in the border, being mid-summer day it somehow seems appropriate. I'll check if any cherries left while I down there, and plant the yellow climbing French beans that I sowed a week or so back2P, hope the rich folks who have bought the bungalow are gardeners and not property developersEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3 -
For those who wanted to know what the manor to the gatehouse posted a few days ago looks like, here is the only picture on the internet. Please don't copy, as I'll be removing it later. The parts on the left, as viewed, reflect the style of the gatehouse, possibly scaled-up....most likely the servants quarters and kitchens etc. It's a nice-looking place, but of its kind, nothing exceptional.OT: We have light rain. Apparently, threats of thunderstorms etc have receded and we shall be back to sunshine and high temps soon. I agree with that - nice looking, nothing exceptional. It's a beautiful building but for me it's in the same league as thatched cottages. Too much hassle to live in one, you wanna live across the road from one so you can see it all day
Sunny and warm here. That sun's too strong for me already though.
Mid-summer! So that means it's downhill to Christmas from tomorrow (kinda sorta) :clapping:I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -

I had five inches of water in the buckets after ten minutes from essentially a shed roof. Won't be needing water for a few weeks for sure. Sunny today though so a bit of potter is on the cards. And take some pots out of the very full trays.Wellies, what a lovely thing to do..

Onl once did I successfully grow sprouts and they were truely wonderful. No relation to the supermarket stuff.
Re the buyer of the bungalow with the biggest garden and wobbly drive is a lady with a zimmer frame. I'm expecting the builders to be laying it to slabs asap.
That does make every neighbour but one disabled and do nothing. Lovely though they are and they are excellent neighbourhood watch I could really do with someone getting out and doing stuff. I'm beginning to slide into apathy.
Been dead heading due to the wind, heat, rain and the humidity is awsome so some serious'glowing' here. Farway will know what I mean
So far trimmed the ceonathus? Forsythia, found the'dead twig' was a black leaved wygelia ? Burried. The dead greegaugesnapped off at the roots and the whole garden needs less in it. That's the thing starting from nothing.
Seems I have a lovely delicate coloured penstenum ? In the border too. Nothing can be moved till autumn when I'll have forgotten
Came in from the drizzle, the heat has dried me off but ground maintenance nearby is doing my head in! Nice guy, noisy gadgets.
So wet, dry, hot, cool, wet - we have it all.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I've a bag in the freezer that I bought and promptly forgot about this last year, so if anyone has any out of season recipe suggestions then I'm all earsI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.2 -
I bought frozen sprouts in an effort to be more economical and they were awful. Maybe it was my cooking.
My sprout success was pre the sprout sweetening revolution. They really were delicious.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
