We've had rain! It rained! Jezz did it rain! Start about 7pm, lovely and gentle, more like thick drizzle, and steadily got a bit heavier and a bit heavier. Didn't turn into properly heavy rain before stopping about 2am, and no thunderstorms either, even though I stopped up waiting. But no matter. All is glistening and refreshed this morning
Windows thrown open first thing but the humidity made me close them after a wee while. Bit of a fine line between letting enough heat out and cool in but not to let the humidity in while the heat's rising....
Yep primulas, they were half dead on the sale rail. Only 50p each so I lifted 3. I thought even though they looked about done now they'll come again next year if I plant them. Won't they? I'll go get pics.
And thanks for reminding me I didn't sort out my water butt, himself is using it as a mini man-cave for his toolsI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
I snipped out the dead bits, put some fbb in the hole then stuck them in. They better not be a one trick pony cos I coulda spent that money on books ha haa!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5

As long as you keep the vine weevil off, those will be fine for years. Anytime they flag, and it's not water, lift gently. If it come away from the soil, hunt the vine weevil.
Replant in new soil and they often recover. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing6 -
Your primulas will should return, Blue Eyes. Nothing's 100% certain in this gardening lark, but they'll be safer than in pots and I'm sure you'll look after them.
Your post reminded me, two years ago, I had a great desire to see candelabra primulas blooming in quantity down by the stream. Never one to splash out, big time, I bought one and attempted to grow the remaining 100 from seed! Hmm.... The mature specimen was planted streamside and about 10 of the seeds germinated, so the beginnings were modest.
Now, time having gone by, there are 3 seed-raised plants, healthy, but not yet flowering, and as for the one by the water.....vanished without trace. We have dozens of primroses there that increase annually, but by the time the candelabra primulas flower, the area is chaotically overrun with grasses, ferns and big geraniums etc. Even if they were there, we'd not see much of them anyway. 'Wild' gardening is just as hard as the other sort!
Most of yesterday's rain missed us, and this morning we're back to sunshine, fluffy cumulus cloud and only a small chance of a shower, but the drunkards say we get our turn tomorrow. As a break from the Rosemoor photos, here's a photo I took at the weekend when our family met up in Zummerzet. I think someone mentioned climbing hydrangeas a short while ago, so here's one doing well on an east-facing wall. The roses and wisteria are, of course, compulsory. No one lives in the house. Good buy Blue! When I started I got lots of pansies for 50p for 10 and they did a job for a couple of yearsMore rain overnight so things starting to perk up. I may be able to get some veg in at last. Some cheerey photos for a change. Look what I saw in my mini pondI don't know how the big frog takes to sharingAnd because when I moved into to a garden bare and empty of any wildlife even insects I've finally got my butterfliesAnd every morning a large bumble bee goes on the same patrol route down the side passage, up and down until it comes to the rose arch

Thanks RAS. With all that rain they’re well watered in so I’ll see what transpires 🤞🏻Don’t think I fancy taking that long doing it from seed… shame you can’t see yours Dusty after all that.
Zummerzet, made me smile - daddy used to call it Zummerzet, with lots of emphasis on the r and the last e 😊 Beautiful house that is, I bet the Big House is a stunner!I bet big frog thinks that’s a bit dropped off 2pHurray for butterflies, and I love your bumblebee story
You’d think he’d have to figured out by now eh.
Also, a confession. I didn’t buy a Heuchera, it’s some cross breed something called a Heucherella ‘Sweet Tea’. It was sale rail too and I had to buy it cos the dark leaves are the colour I take my tea!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

Happy days! I lived briefly in Australia and a Blue Fairy Wren would wake me each morning bashing against the bedroom window. It was fighting its reflection that occoured the same time every morning.Lucky for me that was around 8am and not some unearthly hour.

I'll remove the photo later in case I'm breaching copyright, but this is safer than going guerilla and getting my own!......"ERK!" as they used to say in the Beano. I can't post the only photo in the interweb, 'cos it's protected by these people:.Sorry about that.
