Dusty what's the big blue and white flowering bush in your Cool Garden pic? That would do me rightly for backbone.

Err...do you mean the spikey one? That's an Eryngium....zabelii, I think.I would call that a focal point, rather than backbone. To me, the large grass and the buddleia are the backbone, with supporting assistance from the flowering hebes and santolina at the front.....but Mrs Dusty is the designer person here; I just grow 'em!  :)
Continuing with the Rosemoor theme, the Hot Garden was disappointingly yellow, with most reds not out yet and some alliums for early pops of colour  'gone over', maybe faster than usual. :/
Still no appreciable rain here, though I'm told people in a village ten miles along the main road woke yesterday to "half a wheelbarrow full." We got half an egg cup. :(   Today is when it's all supposed to kick off, with thunder, lightning and torrential downpours. Hmm, we'll see....

Oh dear Taff, that is real s0d's law, but at least you know its name, and I assume it must be a good "doer" if planted around a car park. The white buddleias in this area started life as a cutting from Coop car park that I acquired

We had similar rainfall here Dusty, just wet the leaves and dampen the pavement. It's holding off until my Wisley visit tomorrow, i think

Blue, the geranium is from seed, common hardy UK native, you can get named ones, but mine was a packet of mixed seeds from I think Wilkinson, but I guess anywhere, ideal next time free P & P or a reduced sale is about. I did have a few come up, but the vine weevils ravaged some in pots, be warned it that is your intent

The heather, Wisley has the national collection, the area has been revamped away for the 1960s style layout, and I have high hoped with the recent weather it will be stunning, or frizzled up. There is also a tea & cake café there, very handy, but weekends only so no cream tea for me while looking at the heather

Not much planned for gardening today, will have to have a water now but that's all

Eryngium zabelii yep, I'll have to look out for them. Grasses would be good, buddleia I don't fancy. Work in progress.

Jeez that's a beggar taff, but at least now you have plenty to go on with :)

I'm not that near a wilkos now, I used to get loads of stuff in there before I moved. Yeah geraniums in pots :) Farway are your vine weevils prevalent because of your area or is it a specific plant thing? Or are some shops worse for 'infested' soil?

I predict that it'll be dry for you for Wisley tomorrow but I'll be flooded out (the opposite of the forecast)  B)

They look good next to each other taff :)

I'm wondering if I really need flowers at all. Have a look at this (from the Have A Look At This thread)

Really is lovely eh. I'll bet it took some work to get it to that, but easy upkeep. I'd have that, then pots for roses/daffs/sweet peas etc :)
