Ooh I love heather, I bet that was a sight to see 2p
Some of that would fill in my gappy garden actually. Hmmm.
Dusty what's the big blue and white flowering bush in your Cool Garden pic? That would do me rightly for backbone. And what's your blue geranium called Farway? I fancy a few of them
I'm giving up looking at weather apps. Both the drunkards and the one that came with my phone say it's raining but it bladdy isn't!They both say it's 15'/16' and it bladdy isn't (bit cooler I'd say) There are clouds up there mind, light white patchy layer but at least they're joined up. Got another good cloud pic after sunset last night, phone camera doesn't do it justice. It looked like a great big snake had shed it's skin.
I got everything done yesterday, apart from all the weeding. The weeds I have out the back are at the front too, so they can stop out the front where there's nothing else now, but the back ones are going. They've had their chance and failed to perform, so it's Goodnight Vienna.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
In real life it all but filled the sky, and it had a peachy tinge to it. It was mesmerising.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5

That's an Eryngium....zabelii, I think.I would call that a focal point, rather than backbone. To me, the large grass and the buddleia are the backbone, with supporting assistance from the flowering hebes and santolina at the front.....but Mrs Dusty is the designer person here; I just grow 'em!Continuing with the Rosemoor theme, the Hot Garden was disappointingly yellow, with most reds not out yet and some alliums for early pops of colour 'gone over', maybe faster than usual.Still no appreciable rain here, though I'm told people in a village ten miles along the main road woke yesterday to "half a wheelbarrow full." We got half an egg cup.Today is when it's all supposed to kick off, with thunder, lightning and torrential downpours. Hmm, we'll see....

I went to Jekkas Herb Farm for an open day and saw dwarf santolina for the first time, so I bought a plant. A week later I went to Costco with my MIL for something, and what do I see edging the car park areas? Bloody great reams of the stuff! So I did as any gardener would, and took some sprigs off them in the hopes they'll propogate...

Oh dear Taff, that is real s0d's law, but at least you know its name, and I assume it must be a good "doer" if planted around a car park. The white buddleias in this area started life as a cutting from Coop car park that I acquiredWe had similar rainfall here Dusty, just wet the leaves and dampen the pavement. It's holding off until my Wisley visit tomorrow, i thinkBlue, the geranium is from seed, common hardy UK native, you can get named ones, but mine was a packet of mixed seeds from I think Wilkinson, but I guess anywhere, ideal next time free P & P or a reduced sale is about. I did have a few come up, but the vine weevils ravaged some in pots, be warned it that is your intentThe heather, Wisley has the national collection, the area has been revamped away for the 1960s style layout, and I have high hoped with the recent weather it will be stunning, or frizzled up. There is also a tea & cake café there, very handy, but weekends only so no cream tea for me while looking at the heatherNot much planned for gardening today, will have to have a water now but that's allEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4

Eryngium zabelii yep, I'll have to look out for them. Grasses would be good, buddleia I don't fancy. Work in progress.
Jeez that's a beggar taff, but at least now you have plenty to go on with
I'm not that near a wilkos now, I used to get loads of stuff in there before I moved. Yeah geraniums in potsFarway are your vine weevils prevalent because of your area or is it a specific plant thing? Or are some shops worse for 'infested' soil?
I predict that it'll be dry for you for Wisley tomorrow but I'll be flooded out (the opposite of the forecast)I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
The patch of orange hawkweed I've been cultivating is outAnd the thing with white flowers smels amazing, I think it's some kind of philadelphus but wouldn't you know it, I've totally forgotten what it is...But at east the cats are guarding the catmintNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

Really is lovely eh. I'll bet it took some work to get it to that, but easy upkeep. I'd have that, then pots for roses/daffs/sweet peas etcI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2
