Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Weather yesterday was lovely, just right, not too hot, not too cold for a walk around Kempscott Manor, which I didnlt know, but he never owned, his wife bought it after he died. Saw some stuff I'd like to grow, not an awful lot, but did like the poppies and artichoke pairings. So we stopped at a gc on the way home and bought some seeds [and a heuchera and some reduced something I can't remember the name of which spreads but only an annual] which I'll sow in a bit. Thunderstorm struck just as we got back so missed that thankfully. Today I'm going to a local street plant sale, hoping to find a few chillies. No idea what the seeds are either...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi2

Nice gaff, I'll have a real butcher's later.Received another email from planning lady, which I've only just spotted. She says she's closed the case. An optimist, obviously!

It's been lovely weather here - sunshine and heat. Catching the sun on my skin that hasn't seen this for many months.Love that crab apple Farway. As Blue says, I'd like one of those and the elder too.Open gardens this weekend. Gone up to £8 for the two afternoons but before I moved I did 30 gardens for ideas and I've seen these many times so after a busy week think I'll potter and try and make inroads into tidying and planting of my own.All sorts has popped up, some I barely remember planting and were odds and ends I got carried away with. One being an Allium with a big purple head, must have been planted at least a couple of years ago so something liked the wet. Nice surprise. My big joy is that there are a couple of Blue Tits patroling the front garden and eating the greenfly while the Dunocks are making a good job of the back.Fingers crossed they stay. They do a better job that wiping bugs or spraying. This was my rescue rose Dublin Bay last year. It's now reached the top of the fence and I'll have to wait to photograph it because there's so much foliage covering the area. But a good buy for £2
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

For those after red leaved crab apples, Laura seems to be most compact, but Cardinal has the best spring colour IMO, a good red rather than purple flowers, but has really insignificant fruit.
Roberts Crab aka Dr Campbell has the most interesting large purple fruit, with dark pink flowers and bronze tint.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing6 -
Ooh I love a lilac Farway, they really do smell heavenly
Wanna swop for my cat-wee-tree? It's huge and quite attractive, looks like a straggly cloud and Sideshow Bob's hair had a baby....
Fingers crossed your dgd makes the cut
So if planning woman has closed the case, is that you good to go then Dusty? Get them diggers back while the weather's good and crack on!
Same as taff here yesterday, the weather was near perfect. 18' with just a breath of breeze and sunny. We were going to go to Whitby but the traffic was wild (it was 'Fish + Ship' weekend apparently) so we ended up in Malton. Malton's pure lovely, I got a few photos - I'll put them up from my phone in a min - and I got a bit sunburntLots of old rummage shops in the Shambles, an old dandelion puller-upper thing and an old school milk bottle - v happy with them
That's a cracking rose 2p, such a beautiful colour! My alliums are out here too, but something went wrong there. I planted them alternately with tulips and not a single tulip has appeared. One did throw up some leaves but that's as far as it got. Lovely neighbour has a patch of tulips - ever so pretty and they smell like roses. She can't remember where she got them from, naturally.
The sun leapt straight out of it's bed first thing, so it looks like another lovely day. Must look out my suncream....I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
As we’re descending into a rambling thread, here’s some pics.We took a walk along the river, and spotted these. About the size of a manhole cover, but no function other than pretty -A fluff tree and a pretty + fragrant something -A swan having a nap in the sun -And lastly a postbox that made me smile -I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6

The lovely warm and dry weather yesterday helped us prep the polytunnel to receive its cover at last. Hopefully, that will happen in the next 12 hours, but there's still work to be done. We've a fair number of bodies here just now and the wind seems reasonable, so we'll go for it.Are the erythroniums out yet at Greencombe, 2p? I don't think DW is up to the paths there yet, although she's doing well on the flat, so it's probably Rosemoor for her soon. My walking partner might fancy a trip there, though, and we could combine it with a 'stroll' up and down the hill! Thanks for the Malus info RAS. I'm definitely getting one, once we work out where it can go and be safe.In other news, the main protagonist among those opposing the changes at Dusty Acres greeted me very cheerfully yesterday. I fear the letter she's received from the planning woman may not have been fully understood! Postponement isn't cancellation."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. YoungBlueEyes said:So if planning woman has closed the case, is that you good to go then Dusty? Get them diggers back while the weather's good and crack on!No, it means my prepping work didn't break any laws, which is what the complaint was about. As the planning woman's invited us to apply formally, it seems she thinks our proposals are feasible, perhaps with some compromises, or maybe with none. Being MSE, I tried the no-cost approach, but if it costs a few hundred, and she gets to feel important, it'll be no biggie in the general scheme of things.
Ironically, it was our attempt to protect the property of the other party, which meant our plan was larger than allowed by permitted development. We may well shrink the gap in the hedge, risking tractors etc going over the opposite verge, which doesn't bother us much any more!

Ah ok, so it's still early doors then. I thought the planning woman closing the case meant you were good to go. Never mind, bit by bit eh. Softly gently catchy monkeyI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2
