Sunny & warm forecast, no gardening though because I have a volunteer meeting PM, but will of course mooch around the border there and hopefully get a few pics, it's been a few weeks since I saw it so if anything like our gardens it will have rocketed away, and weeds poking up no doubtI'm taking the excess toms along to their new foster parents, give away day for them as well. All mine are now in their final fruiting [ha!] positions with a forecast of a fine warm weekend they should settle in wellThe newly planted runners have found the canes and are climbing upwards now, except a few lace curtain ones the snails got firstExciting times, new neighbours all round, Hope all turn out as pleasant & garden friendly as mine seem to beEven more exciting for me, it's Chelsea next week, and a granddaughter is part of the Sparsholt college team with a display there. Hence, the nettle soup practice last weekRead all about it here, granddaughter is third in from right, blue jumper

I hope she has a fab time Farway, exciting times eh! Not that that tall unit on the far left seems to think so.... Will you get down to see her?
Lace curtains - seems that's what got to some of my sweet peas then.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -

Will you get down to see her?Unfortunately no, I'd love to get up there but with my health and walking difficulties it is just not feasible, I couldn't even manage any stairs or escalators at a railway station for instance.Pre Covid they used to run coach excursions there, drop off outside on the Embankment, but covid has killed off the coach company and no alternative that I've found. Her parents will be going of course & staying overnight in a hotel to make a day of itI'll have to make do with TV & whatever pics are sent

Farway, I wish granddaughter and crew all the success they deserve at Chelsea.
Loved the video, which was very well put-together. Good to see them still using the same book we used when I was at college/uni too.
I have slightly different memories of nettle soup. Trying to calculate, but it must've been about 50 years ago I made it with my class, as we were in a 'temporary classroom' (it's still there!) happily sited in the school's nature area. We had the cream and other ingredients, but no honey, so maybe that was what was missing....or more likely, our nettles were old stock! Didn't do that again, but we knocked up some amazing curries when studying the Far East. Can you imagine sending junior school kids down to the local shops with money and an ingredients list today? Totally irresponsible.

I can certainly remember a lot of what I did as a youth - quite remembering why I thought it was a good idea at the time though...I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4 -
A shame you can't get to it, TV vicariousness it is then
Jeez Dusty, you do look like Dave Allen!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -

, but I can't see the likeness you've drawn there. I didn't normally look like the 'me' in the photo, and that was my point. For example, I never walked around with a fag in my mouth. The other two were probably trying to look intellectually absorbed. If I remember correctly, all of us were borderline when it came to passing exams.
And I disagree that 'youth is another country' in the sense that I can remember those days far more clearly, than those in middle age, including how I felt and what motivated me.OT: "You only remember the sunny days" ....can't remember which advert that was from, but that's not true either. Congratulations to her and them Farway. As for photgraph, ten mintues with a camera phone should show you that any group of people will be caught out by the picture snap, blinking, winking, opening their mouths, glowering at the time taken, so a photo doesn't really show much beyond that very second. The photo chooser probably piked that one because most of them were smiling at the right time. The promo photo for my art degree shows me with my face scrunched up and looking away while everyone else smiled properly at the camera.Spent some time wandering through front garden this morning, solidifying plans in the head for recycling various bits and pieces. I had a brief though after seeing something on GW, the two pencil cypresses are dead so instead of cutting them totally down as I was going to, I might just shave the branches off to make some sturdy potsts for something else...I love a wander and a think..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5
