I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.3 -
Yep, it's a shield bug.
Not sure what they do but I like them.
In Australia they were beautiful colours and called Jewel Bugs.

And they reek. Never stand on one, you'll end up having to throw your shoes away.

Now that I've read those links yep I'd agree with shield bug from the shape, The colour was maroony/browny all over, apart from the creamy dot on it's back. No stomping or chomping, it just strolled away. Are you speaking from experience RAS + taff?
It was tea and cake day yesterday. First lovely neighbour for looking after Handsome, then The Oracle came over "for a catch-up" before she goes to Lourdes at the weekend. You must be over the moon she said. Umm why? Well your neighbours have their house on the market, they're moving closer to the city. Wait WHAT?! She was right, it's on rightmove. Bit toppy on the price though
so can everyone please pray for a stoopid rich person to buy it? A quiet, music hating, party hating, early-rising, childless gardener if it all poss. Ta muchly
Anyway OT - Mild overnight here and warm ish now already. Light white clouds and no breeze. According to my apps it'll be sunny or not with a strengthening breeze or not while the humidity may or may not drop to 60 or 42%.

Another lovely sunny day. Don't want to complain but I'm having to water not only the pots but looks like the garden too where baby plants and stuff moved are growing. It's a weird world at the mo.
That's good news Blue
Wonder who we'll get now vickys housed has been cleared? Hoping for someone friendly who isn't noisy. Someone who has a social life and will be interesting.
I watched them giving away compost and gardening stuff. Wish they'd sent some over this way.
Today is another day out with a walk, coffee, funeral and tea. Going to have to do something more cheerful shortly.
One little joy is I have some lovely iris in bloom in my winter pots. Seems I got a bit greedy and minder wandering grabbing these cheap bulbs while I could. Wrong ones and unknown ones.
Still it is an adventure

Praying right now for you.
We have wonderful immediate neighbours. On the hottest days in summer, they may actually venture outdoors, but for well over 300 days of the year, it's indoors with the curtains and windows closed.
No news on the planning front.
The enforcement officer promised to "revert back to" us at the earliest opportunity, which says much about her level of education and sincerity, but maybe things are of such seriousness it must be by letter. As we're now outside the window for obtaining bespoke materials in time, I'm inclined to re-schedule, rather than do a bodge job. I've experience of what happens when everything's decided 'on the hoof.'
OT: It's looking good for covering the polytunnel at the weekend.
Just say, "No!"2 -
I really don't understand that. My last house, not one of the neighbours opened their blinds or windows, ever. Who can live like that?! I know everyone's different but I did wonder if it was a Lincolnshire thing... Now that I've been de-varminted I throw open the back door and all the windows when I get up. 3 hours ago my house was full of birdsong
Hopefully your 'revertion' is quick and pleasing
Would you not risk ordering your materials now, given the wait you'll be in for anyway? Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.2
