Wow that’s amazing Farway
I wonder if himself would notice if I swopped my washing line poles for a pair of them…
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -

This 'tidy up the garden' malarky has the potential to be quite expensive
Do you have an allotment site near you? Do they accept gardening members? If so, people give away stuff or sell for peanuts. Some do rather costlier plant sales around this time of year.
And check whether there is a gardening library (swap location) near you. Or put out a message on FB or WA?

Normally I skip them but extra incentive nowMe too; not seen it in years, but I will make the effort!Over the past two days, we've got the polytunnel covered and the first part of the tensioning process done. We were lucky to have 3 young and fit assistants for the first stage......We're supposed to be fully tensioning the cover today, but the forecast is for cloud, so we'll wait for a really sunny day and maximum heat. A lot of polytunnel covers don't get stretched enough and flap about, which shortens their life. This is still at the 'floppy' stage...."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." That's some rig you have there Dusty! What's going in there then? Veg/flowers/mix?
Did you dgd come across well last night Farway? What's the celeb-spotting tally now? I'll also be watching GW..I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
I've got polytunnel envy..but not polytunnel putting up envyI'm going toa gc today because I can...It's sunny, and I feel the need for a big terracotta pot. I planted the nasturtiums in a strawberry planter to see how that will work, there may be too many for the pot but I'm hoping they will cascade and do their thing. And wonder of wonder, I grew them from seed..Me and flowers from seed have never been friends but I appear to have semi cracked it this year...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

Well done Dusty - that pollytunnel looks nearly the size of my whole garden!
A strawberry planter (a proper ceramic one) is on my wishlist for in the front.
I was so tempted when I was in town last week buying plant food for my sad holly, but all the 'decent' size ones (more than windowsill size) were far to expensive in the little garden centre to be justifiable as an impulse buy (i.e before I went to the carboot and came home with a box of strawberry plants needing somewhere to live!)
Looking online, because if the weight I think, all the nice ones are also a bit pricy once you add in delivery... I might have to wait until work needs me to go into the office, so I can see what the 'city' has to offerI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.3 -
Chelsea & DGD update, celeb spotting went well, she is chuffed, pictured with Brian May, plus Judy Dench, Bill Bailey, Alex [one show, had a long chat apparently], Alan Titchmarsh & Adam Frost and others. No pics until her parents have seen them first, fair enoughBut Cherry on top, they won a gold medal
. This is the DGD on the Beeb site
Her interview seems to be on the cutting room floor, but I'm told will be one on TV with the "Eat well for less" folk at Chelsea sometime this week. I suppose eating nettles, hawthorn and weeds is cheap enough, there's a banquet growing in my back garden for anyone so inclinedSun's out here again, and a warm day forecast. No gardening planned except maybe mooch around and check on grape non progress and water the smaller pots. I noticed something growing in a pot that I can't remember sowing, further investigation requiredI may sow a further pinch of LG lettuce or Cos, depends on what packet I find firstEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5
