Ooh a climbing hydrangea! Want one of them now too. I'm thinking of digging mine up and putting it in a pot with some ericaceous (sp?) compost. I read that they like it acidic. I'm gonna do your mud-pie soil test 2p, prolly be tomorrow cos it's domestic nonsense day today and I've got Handsome coming round in 15 mins so not a gardening day.
I'll take a pic of my dandelion digger tool thing. I expect it's got a proper name but I don't know it. I only recognised it cos there was a thread about one on here 'anyone know what this tool is?' or similar. It's all rusted up but it's still bendy so it'll be fine with a good scrub i think
Lovely neighbour says there are open gardens round here over the next couple of weekends so she's getting us tickets. I can see it being a procession of "ooh look at that!" "Oh wow I want one of them!" Ooohhhh they're selling that one!!" like the 5 year old I am inside ha haa!
OT - Countryfile last night says we've all got lovely weather coming this week, but all yous down the bottom left have it warmer. It was a lovely day here yesterday and same today I think - sunny but the breeze is cool if you get caught in it. Perfect washing day

Only discovered 3yrs ago because my friend had one.
They're great but wear gloves if you do a lot. I ended up with blisters!
Like the bottle. What are you going to do with it?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It was the allotment seed and plant swap yesterday. Took some seeds but there were loads of surplus plants. So, great for adding variety rather than buying loads of different varieties. Purple basil, some large, and small, tomato plants and different curcubits.
But do need to get some stuff planted, even if rather late. It's only been the last few days that fierce North or East winds haven't been turning stuff to tattersIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing6 -
Milk bottle will hold flowers when I cut some from my garden, I was thinking them big daisy things would look good
I’ve plenty of dandelions so my diggerypokery is gonna get a lot of use! Good tip about blisters, thanks 2p
I’m looking forward to our open gardens weekends. I’m relying on lovely neighbour to keep me straight on what my garden will happily take…
RAS you shoulda said you wanted tom plants, I coulda given you a lifetime’s supply!

A bit dull this morning but warm enough, just been into town and came back with a pair of choc éclairs and liquid fertiliser. I was after BFB but none around, not that I went everywhere so no panic buying pleaseGood & bad news about my dahlia cuttings, I neglected them, and they cooked in the conservatory
, panic watering last night and one has perked right up, so I assume that has rooted, but the other two cuttings, are on life support and TBH I think are goners
Chelsea update, DGD has been interviewed and is scheduled to make her debut on BBC South tonight, presumably during the local news slotNo updates on judging yet, today's the dayI have better hopes on my Merton Thornless blackberry, a lot of blossom has opened up, and with fine weather forecast it could be a good year after allPlums & cherries, I have some but not a lotHere's my plums in the sunEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
I went to a car boot yesterday, bought a box full of maybe a dozen strawberry plants, some nasturtium seeds, and some stacking plant pot things.
This 'tidy up the garden' malarky has the potential to be quite expensiveI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.6 -
Aye it easily does Arbitrary! I’ve done mine bit by bit but I bet if I walked round the garden with a calculator I’d properly shock myself
Good to hear dgd made the cut Farway, she must be over the moon :applause: Fingers crossed for lots of brambles, and revenant dahliasI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
COngrats to her Farway, she'll be a tv star next...Was drizzly this morning but is now sunny..The next door neighbour hates my two pencil cypresses and always asks when I'm cutting them down they were about 8ft and not allowed to go bigger but they got very borwn and cispy after this winter so they will both go..shame, I liked them] so I told him I was doing one of them and he was very happy. Until I told him I was only cutting the feathery bits off and leaving the main stem to grow something on...He gets on my nerves with him asking, they weren't in his garden or overhanging his garden so a lot is yah boo sucks on you revenge...Not big and clever but sometimes...I saved some seeds from it and am attmepting germination with them, they are currently in the fridge thinking it's winter.Going to get a trachelospermum because they smell delicious, and look for a small water butt for the front garden off the porch. And it will have to be small, space is limited between the bay and the porch. Plus, I have a roofer coming to quote on Wednesday so I can amuse myself with the thought of where will I be putting my lovely roof tiles and what will I make...I love a recycle project.I picked up a few oriental poppies from a local gardener, no idea if they will live so I'm nursing them behind the greenhouse. I've also sown some because I love them, but I can't them to start in the front garden at all from seed.@A@ArbitraryRandom I fear you have caught the disease of gardening now...you will never be the same again.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

Sun came out at lastDGD is now on spot the celeb at Chelsea, odd how youngsters never really believe you until it happens. I did tell her celebs would be everywhere, she has spotted Will Young so farDeep pockets AR, it's round landscaped gardens next and realising you don't have room for everything you fancy, but dreams are what it is about-taff said:Was drizzly this morning but is now sunny..The next door neighbour hates my two pencil cypresses and always asks when I'm cutting them down they were about 8ft and not allowed to go bigger but they got very borwn and cispy after this winter so they will both go..shame, I liked them] so I told him I was doing one of them and he was very happy. Go on, teach him a real lesson, very "on trend" chainsaw carving tree stumps. This is one at Wisley, but there is one near me.PS, AR, something you could squeeze in?
