Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Raining here as well, I've put a potted dahlia out for a watering but the tomatoes I've held back because they'll get so wet & become droopy, likewise the runners. If it brightens later, I'll stick them out thenAt least the rain will help swell the goosegogs, it's looking like a good crop this yearAnd, my Little Gem lettuce sown the other week are up, and so far not slugged
, but of course today's rain could be ideal slug inducing weather
Tempted to sow another pinch when the dry returns and I sort out the tubs for my upcoming huge crop of outdoor tomatoesApart from that, no gardening today, however if the sun comes out I may embark upon a lily beetle safari this afternoonGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot3 -
Tell you no lies, Blue Eyes, Mrs Dusty and I aren't big cake eaters. This puts us at quite a social disadvantage in an area where every activity seems to revolve around the consumption of cake and similar comestibles.
Anyway, DD2 turned up in the evening, brandishing a huge pack of assorted truffles, so calorie for calorie, the cake's been outgunned during this morning's coronation binge!
I'd planned to have pictures of our crown ready for the appropriate time today, but reckoned without a trip to the vet with a ferret.Ferret's OK, which is the main thing.
So here are a couple of shots. Better late than never! Not too shabby in the end, but the problems we had getting that purple material in time.....One benefit of being a 'conspiracy theorist' is having slug pellets that work.7 -
It was wet this morning but not much in the way of rain and quite mild.Again, too wet to get out and do some jobs in the garden. Of course my non neighbours is on pea shingle so not sure what my excuse is for not going there.I've been sorting paperwork and ironing and my desk while watching the coronation.Sun has come out now but huge puffy clouds hang over. After a lot of wine and nibbles I think a cup of tea + cake and if it's still not raining I'll go for a walk.Curious Dusty, what will happen to that lovely crown after this weekend?
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Very mild and drizzling steadily here, but it'll be fog soon says Weather channel app.
Your upcoming huge crop Farway? I'm looking forward to those picsI didn't realise lettuce came up this early, from growing normally in the garden I mean. I do like Little Gems. I'm not even attempting anything else til the last thing comes up (peppers, they're either idling or dead, can't tell).
Jeez that's some crown Dusty, looks cracking sat on the font! What'll you do with it now?
2p I thought you said you were ironing your desk while watching the coronation
Anyone know how to get rid of an earworm? I'm still humming Zadok The Priest...Why does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? Because they give him case ideas.3 -
No idea what I meant there! Must have been the proseccco
Cloudy and everywhere is wet. The sun is supposed to be out all day shortly. I'm annoyed I escorting a friend to a coronation thingy I don't want to go to and would rather be pottering in the garden.
Was hoping to get the front lawn mowed this morning but too wet. So may just have to go and buy a baby Acer on my way out
My cherry tree thick with cherries but the leaves already thick with blackfly. Squishing not working so the bug gun must come out.
Plum being devastated by greenfly.
Both make the leaves curl badly and weaken the trees.
I wonder how much garlic I'd need to be sucked up by treesI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Your last sentence..... did you have a couple of liveners for breakfast?
I was looking at little acers in my Aldi brochure, I'm considering maybe possibly getting one, perhaps. Those the ones you mean? Why does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? Because they give him case ideas.2 -
It did nothing but rain yesterday, so I never did anything garden wise, zilch. However, rain has stopped now & it's quite warm, so all the plants, toms, beans etc are outside getting ready for life outdoors sometime late this monthIt's still very damp & soggy, so unlikely to get much done todayMarvellous effort on the Crown Dusty2P, sorry to hear about the cherry & plums, but it has reinforced my belief that this year both of mine are nearly fruitless, due to the rotten cold weather at blossom time. Should this prove to be the case, at least I think I'll have lots of apples & goosegogsMy pending massive tomato crop depends on blight free, maybe asking too much there, but last year was blightless for monthsYBE, I like L Gem lettuce, but normally buy them, however it was only the lack of veg in supermarkets earlier in the year that forced me to grow my own, slugs & greenfly are the worst enemies of course, but fingers crossed. My Cos ones are coming on, not ready yet but still alive and growing in the conservatoryI have some strawberry flowers, these strawbs are the BVW remnants, [before vine weevil]. Some runners remain and flower, usually I nurture & cherish them & then the slugs eat them the day before harvest dayI wish "things" would get a move on, I think it was Dusty that remarked about long late Spring, seems to have been stuck on dull forever, very tempted to bung a few toms out inside pop bottle cloches sometime next week, if only to get something going, even though I know they may just sit & sulk for weeks afterwardsGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot3

Watching Gardeners world I saw the idea of planting summer Kale.Wonder if I've enough room?Blue, which sentance, the garlic or the prosecco? Sometimes it's great living on your own. You can indulge in stuff when you like

Anyone know how to get rid of an earworm? I'm still humming Zadok The Priest...As for the crown, it's not mine, so I'll have no say. I expect they'll want to recover some costs.... maybe eBay or similar. The artists say the pleasure and learning is all in the making. To them, it's a process, and the product's secondary. They'll want rid ASAP I expect! The dull, sultry morning is due to give way to sunshine around now, so the toms and other small plants will be going outside. We shall head up to the village after lunch. Mrs Dusty can meet a few folk and see the crown in situ, but we'll not stay very long as it'll wear her out. The op is good, but the after-effects, not so much.Yesterday, I planted a few more trees in peripheral areas, mainly birches, but also a hawthorn I'm hoping to frame the entrance to our wild garden with. I guess that will take a few years. Coincidentally, it's right in line with the window of a caravan a neighbour who's opposed to our plans installed there a few years ago, overlooking the whole garden. I didn't mind when he was friendly, but feel somewhat different now.Walking up to the church yesterday, I came upon these ladies. Apparently, some villagers were annoyed they weren't flocked-down like others' hens. I guess those folk don't know a lot about guinea fowl! One benefit of being a 'conspiracy theorist' is having slug pellets that work.4 -

I'm considering having a go at LG lettuce, my yogurt pot peppers aren't having it, so it's a kinda 1-in-1-out sorta deal. I'm not to buy any more anythings, apparently
I'm not pressing play on that vid Dusty, well I will do later on. My pure lovely delightful neighbours are sleeping soundly bless them, having spent ALL NIGHT entertaining the road with music and laughter and a few contretemps and a barking loose dog. They've only been in bed a couple of hours, the darlings.
Lovely neighbour is having a garden party this aft, so I'll need to get me erse in gear to get all the domestic nonsense done by noon.
OT - weather is mild and the sun's trying to make an appearance. Various apps have given rain from 1000-1900 and 1100-1600 and 1100-2300. So there's thatWhy does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? Because they give him case ideas.2
