Aww that's a lovely picture, makes me wish I still had a dog  :)

I missed the first half of the garden thing last night cos I forgot it was on, but the second half wasn't quite as good as last week. Similar though.

I had to take himself to work this morning and it's proper windy in 'Ull. They're off Sheffield to build a cabin, then driving it down to Watford to set fire to it (Grenfell safety tests something something). Why can't you just build one in Watford, set fire to it, and come home again. He gave me A Look. So I've the house to meself for 3 days!  B)

Breezy here and mild, so my washer's on and bu99er the drunkards. Dry all day after it's finished raining this next hour  :D

I did buy 2 helebores cos one had flowers starting to come and the other was a wee baby one. I should really only buy big stuff - it's harder to kill big stuff  :#

Lovely picture 2P, reminds me of past wood walking, unfortunately the legs & heart don't allow it now [trip hazards] but your picture takes me back there

YBE, I initially read your post as 'imself burning down Watford, repeating Boudica and St Albans, with Northern hordes swooping South & burning towns

No advances on gemination today, and sun is sparse & looks meh outside.
I have just had living herbs delivered with my Asda order [80p each], so gardening today is to pot up the parsley, coriander & thyme to get them settled by summer, may go mad & call it a herb garden

Gawd Farway that made me laugh! :D He's quite well read so I could call him Boudica, but poss her husband's name (Prasutagus, thanks DuckDuck) would be more appropriate but it doesn't seem to have been similarly combustible....

No advances on my germination at all so I've started again - I've burst a couple of wee toms onto some kitchen paper and they're drying out now.

The Oracle came across this morning to see if I had any info she doesn't already know for a coffee and a catchup. The funny big bulb that's growing like a rampant thing has been diagnosed as a fritilaria (sp?) It's got fat yellow pods all round the top that will be flowers any minute now she says. Oh and the black bobbled Christmas Box I bought won't like our soil she says. Well I planted it yesterday and it's no died yet so it's 50/50.

I've had words with The Holey Roamin' terror. He sat at my feet while I was hanging the washing out. I told him he could poo as often as he likes by my helebore, but it'll cost him a fingernail every time he does it. He stared at me for a minute then licked his bum. So there's that.

  • Over the last few weeks in February, the weather has been so much nicer its not even been too cold! The night are drawing out for a lot longer as well, lighter nights, I can't wait for it to be summer
In march now it has warmed right up! the days are quite mild i love it, ready for spring to hit in the UK

May have warmed CC but it's been hissing down again with high winds. I only had chance to wander briefly and make grand plans.
It's due to be wet for the forseeable - but bright. Still won't be able to get out there.

Tomatoes - must remember to try and track down some San Marzano seed. It seems I don't have any left.

Farway, that's a shame about your walks. It just coincided with me having a good day with my pain so I was lucky for once. 2 more weeks to the physio - my 5th or 6th. Surely I've got to get one who can spot the problem eventually.
The Magnolias are out here! Always a good sign. This was from last year because it's too wet to get a pic this year.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Mild here again. I don't mind the showers if that's what mild comes with, it's the desperate cold I don't like. It never used to bother me - get your big coat and warm boots on and get out with dog. But joints have started ....disagreeing..... :(

Not a bad sunrise here, nothing special but it's a wee bit cloudy for a good one really. Still windy too.

I was gonna say "that's a cracking magnolia 2p" but I love everything in that picture actually :)  Let me know if that house goes up for sale cos I want it! Next door but one but one neighbour has a magnolia, there's definitely movement but not nice enough for a pic yet. Plus I don't really know them tbh, and I'd have to stand in front of their house to take a pic cos there's fences either side....

Sorting tom seeds out today, and judging by the leaves I think I've got another 'carrot' harvest to get in. My bulbs are coming up though. Even a weak wee bit of sun gets it all going eh :)

Started out with sun, but with  "persistent rain" forecast later I thought I'd crack on this morning rather than leave it

So, quick mooch into garden, yay, every blossom bud, apples, pears, plum & cherry is just ready to pop :) , and next door's Concorde pear, a large tree, is covered in ready to go buds, should be spectacular once they all burst
,whisper this quietly ;) , but one of my new pear grafts has a flower bud on it, shhh, don't look, or it'll drop off

As I was potting up the new Asda herbs and sowing California poppies, outside this morning so less mess spilled compost to clear up the rain started, large lumps of it not a gentle shower, finished those tasks PDQ and back indoors

Sungold toms, own saved seed, have germinated and now on the window sill
No advances on my germination at all so I've started again - I've burst a couple of wee toms onto some kitchen paper and they're drying out now.

Snap, in my Asda delivery yesterday they'd subbed my tom order with plum cherry type, but they are delicious, pic at the end. Seeds squeezed, and I'll sow some this weekend, just checking online & wonder if they are the fabled Piccolo? Be nice if they were, they do look similar

I will have way too many plants but gone beyond caring now, I'll get them in somewhere
And now I have free tom Alfresco seed, from Mr F with my recent order, so couple of them to sow, red plum good outdoors allegedly

I've always wanted fritillaria but kept passing out when looking at the prices

The yummy Asda toms, from Morroco so wish me luck with the seed

(Ooh gwan that pear graft, you can do it!

I don't know where I got it from that you're to burst toms onto kitchen paper and dry them out before you plant them. They all dried out anyway and I've got them planted now. But it's taken me all morning to peel them off and get the wee bits of paper off them and I've sore hands now - it was that pernickety! And just be oxymoronic about it I don't want them all coming up cos god knows what I bladdy do with 150 seedlings

I think I've had piccolo toms from lidl and they really are a beautiful flavour. Yum. Good luck with your Morrocan ones, they look like the ones I normally buy :)

The fritillaria was £6 iirc. I only bought it cos it made my total up to £50 so lovely neighour's loyalty card would kick in with a discount - was it 10%..? Anyway the Oracle was right and it is just about to flower. I'll go take a pic.

Here it is. It’s about 9” tall I’d say.
In the background my bulbs coming up already, and I found a tiny wee holly squeaking through the fence so I’m hoping it’s happy cos I like it :)

    Hi

Woke up at 07-00hrs to a day that looked like a fantastic summers day, that is until about 10.15 hours. Now the odd spots of rain for a few mins, sun, cloud, and very blustery

The worse March weather in London for years, very depressing

    :(
