I'm glad you got some sun 2p, but can I have it back now please? Pishing it down here, it has been for most of the night and will 'til late aft :( Mild again though so I'll take it. Hard to believe it was only 2 weeks ago we had all that desperate ice and cold!

Everywhere seems to have clematis cheaper than that garden centre, it's a wonder they ever sell any. All this talk of them is making me want one but I've enough on really. On the way home yesterday we nipped into Boyes (think it's a northern shop?) to have a look at their sale stuff. Turns out they've expanded their gardening section AND a lot of it was on sale  So I've got a new trowel - needed one cos I snapped daddy's old one digging up them 'carrots' - and a matching tiny-fork-that's-the-size-of-a-trowel. Good solid steel, thick hardwood handles, made by Wilkinson Sword of all people. Oh and some new gloves cos they're a beautiful blue, and I can stop gardening in my extra thick black toilet unblocker rubber gloves :D I can't buy anything else 'til I get a shed, the conservatory is rammed and getting rammed-er.

Your Christmas Box will be lovely if the neighbour's is going goodo. Any chance she's got a magnolia and a greengage you could have a cutting of? :P

Oooh, Boyes. There is one at the end of a (long) bus route I catch occasionally. Haven't been to that town in ages. Might be worth a trip? Usually some good charity shops as well.

Yesterday am was lovely but got colder after lunch. I'd been working outside for much of the previous three days, so took a break.

If your Boyes is anything like mine I'd say it's worth a trip :)

Neighbour doesn't have those. I'll treat myself to the gage because today is gloomy and set to stay + both toilets are now making an awful noise along with the heating which I need to sort out and frankly ........... not in the mood. My sucess rate with trades hasn't been good  lately.

It's mild enough to sit out with a coffee in the garden briefly and 'look' at what I'd like to do. It's easier than the doing.

Great news on the bargains :) My gloves are pink, on sale in Morries, well, not so pink now!

Welcome DIYer, it's wet here if it's any consolation, I'm south Hampshire so probably on its way to you.

I was thinking about planting the Regale lilies today, I think I've found a spot, but rain has stopped play for now, however every cloud etc, the silver lining is I put out the Hot Lips cutting that is infested with something I can't see or get rid of, and I'm hoping dampness will sort them out if it's some sort of minute sap sucking mite

Thinking hard about sowing some easy annuals in half trays, just to get going, I need some for the volunteer garden, nothing hard, Californian Poppies do well there, hot & neglected. This year I have some red ones just for a change

Not gardening, but I do miss getting the washing out into fresh air, but with my mobility problems lugging washing down the garden could become a trip to A & E
    Hi

My sun didn't last long, dull with rain on the way this week.

All this talk of gages, I've always wanted one but finished up with a plum
My desire for a gage goes way back to my Navy days, one of my mess mates had a middle name of Gage, which he said came from his family line back to Gage who introduced it to UK. checked just now and seems it could well be true. William Gage
I always fancied a Golden Drop type, just for the name alone

Good news on the tomatoes in airing cupboard, the six varieties sown mid last week are all up now, Shirley. is poking up but a bit she's a bit behind the others.
Two that I'm glad to see up are Happy Days, which I've never grown before, was on offer at £1, and Bloody Butcher, which I have grown and this is from my own 2018 saved seed, so I was a bit dubious about germination

If I get a chance, I hope to sort out some flower seeds to sow indoors

So the sun comes and goes and its all right with me. 12c!

I did mow and trim the grass on sunday. Not sure it looks much better. Still lumpy. Maybe walking on it wet and the gutter man didn't help.
Lots of daisies coming out, potted tulips in bud, fruit trees hanging fire but the buds are there. Going to have to ask for pruning advice at some point. I really didn't get the apples right at all.

Too nice to stay in, done housework and watersystem checking so off for a primrose walk and coffee and cake in a village garden.  :)
If it's not raining this afternoon I think about painting the trick door and birdhouse.

A bit damp but better than it was, supposed to be more rain later

2P, heard on the news last night about blossom buds, this year should be a cracker for blossom, seems all the fruit trees are same as ours, just waiting for a bit more warmth after a cold winter

Another batch of tom seeds emerged this morning, now on now sill with the rest. These are the expensive but on offer ones, yellow plum cherry, so very pleased to see them

Never got round to sorting out some flower seeds, life intruded, but maybe later today?

Next on my waiting list is my Christmas amaryllis, any day now

It was lovely and sunny here first thing but it didn’t last. The drunkards keep saying it’s gonna rain in the next hour but it hasn’t yet. I could’ve had a wash out! Erseholes 😒

Somebody on another forum mentioned s/he has big bees in the garden. They’re all after the lovely fragrant Mahonia apparently. I had to look it up, but finally - something I don’t want!

The Holey Roamin Terror has made a mess of my hellebore. Evidently I’ve had the gall to plant something in his exact toilet spot. Not amused doesn’t cover it. This better not be a permanent problem or I’ll be wanting to take steps 😡 I’ve potted up the bits but we’ll see 🤞🏻

Oh sad about the helebore. Perhaps time to get a spare :)
I saw the Sky Arts garden prog tonight - well some of it. I meant to watch the end but it's not my thing  I'll stick with Monty and his travels. But thanks for the suggestion. You never know.

The primroses + voiolets + vinca + celandines. Followed by coffee and cheese and chorizo enormous scone with a view of the moors
