Woolsery said:That's some road trip! I hope they all fit into your Jazz. I ruminated over the Jazz and the Ford Fusion, choosing the latter because I knew the seats were comfy, it sits high and the suspension's forgiving. I've found it a nippy little motor, but it's DB's and the image it has isn't 'me.' The dealer who sold it to us said, "It's had a lot of owners, but it's the kind of car that's the last one people own...err...if you know what I mean!"Lovely day here; far too nice for cleaning windows, really.
DB had the patio doors wide open at one point. What a change since last week!
I noticed the leaves are still hanging on the apples trees. I suppose they will fall eventually?
Tomorrow I have to visit my neglected allotment. I'm hoping to have news about that soonLove living in a village in the country side2 -
Gawd wellies, that's some itinerary! Fingers crossed your pick-ups are all waiting ready for you
Also, send me your daffs if you don't want 'em, I love daffs. I got nothing planted in the garden, I did get some pots filled but I won't find out for a few months if them squirrels have left me anything.....
How are the lurgies doing? Still shifting along..? Chilblains are slightly improved and ribs are very slightly improved. Himself went to work this morning so he obviously feels better than he looks
We're in for a bright and breezy day here apparently so I've another wash on.
What I really need to do is get some decs upI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -
Morning, been awol working in the germ ridden hell hole they call a supermarket these days. Absolutely chaos trying to deal with the amount of stock they throw at us. I am a Jill of all trades at work, so dragged from pillar to post. So days off are spent trying to recharge so not seen the garden for weeks, also given the deep freeze of the last couple of weeks not wanting to move from under a throw with a hot microwave pack on my feet.
The green bin men have just been and emptied it, only had food compost waste bags and cut flowers in the bottom, as not had time to fill it. Put it out anyway as I am lucky that they come all year round and we don’t pay extra for garden bins .
Just caught up with all your posts, so hoping those with lurgy and other ailments are getting better, and thanks for the pretty pics and laughs.
Wishing you all the best for the Christmas and new year to come. 🎅🏻🍾🥂Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3 -
Good morning! Blue sky is peeping through on this the shortest day. Very still and damp. I hope everyone is recovering, such a busy time of year to be inactive
I spoke too soon about the apples not being taken. At dusk I brought them just inside the closed gates, however, when I went to lock up around 8 they'd ALL gone, including my box!! A quick check on the camera revealed a couple reaching through the bars for them then when they'd got them all they manoeuvred the box up the railings and hauled it over the top - 5' up with security wire. They must have seen them in the day and come back. I want the apples gone but am still a little cross, why not just ring the bell!
Today is my uni reunion, I will make the effort as this year it's not too far - where did 43 years go? Gardening wise my aim is to plant those ********* daffodils + three other packets. No distractions. I will do it.Love living in a village in the country side1 -

No distractions. I will do it.Firstly, I've lost the blooming mini daffs I was going to plant in the mini woodland, so there will have to be a hunt. They must go in before New Year.As for unis, I left mine 48 years ago, having struggled through an extra one-year course run on 3 campuses, to turn my teaching certificate into a degree...of sorts...the dreaded BEd! Now, a former inmate student tells me in his Christmas letter, the uni is handing out honorary BA degrees to those who didn't do the extra year, all in the name of inclusivity or something like that. It's not as if it matters anyway, because the poor, deprived, individuals benefiting will surely be retired now or pushing up daisies. Words almost fail me, but this initiative suggests that wherever the bar is set nowadays for degree status, it's lower than where it was 45 years ago! After Christmas, I'll be writing to enquire if I can do a part exchange deal: my crappy BEd for a shiny new BA. I'm not being serious, but it would be interesting to see the response!
On topic: not a bad day so far. I think it's a lucky bag with a bonus of warmish temperatures.0 -
Dull & drizzle started now, however yesterday was lovely and sunnyThe seed sprinkling in DS weedy patch was completed, now sit back & wait. Also pointed out to DS where & how to winter prune his apple tree, no doubt that advice went in one ear etc same as it did last yearStill sunny by the time I got back, so at long last ventured down the garden to empty the tea slop bucket, managed to pour most of it over my leg, the rest fell onto the green bit AKA known as lawn
. Hopefully the rest of the winter rain / frost will sort that out for me
But good news, into the shed and found what I thought was there, a nice large heavy clay pot to put my big amaryllis bulb into, maybe get that planted up by ChristmasMost of my apple leaves have come down now, and one manky Pinova apple I deliberately left hanging on the tree for birds has been eaten, just a shell of peel left, now they can start rummaging for hiding bugsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
This morning was lovely- inside where it cheered you immensely. Windows and doors open (briefly)
Outside wet and soggy still so I inspected some stuff in the garden. The fancy Helebore continues to grow with massive buds growing. The sturdy winter jasmine not. The bird table continues to rot as does the garage door.
My hope is that the promised dry and bright weather over Christmas is going to happen and I'll be able to have my preferred winter celebration pottering uninterrupted.
I can still eat and drink
Lurgie seems to be on the way out but almost as much trouble.
Glad to hear others also have a smidgen of improvement.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull and damp morning, not raining but on its way, so my computer tells meNo gardening today, busy sorting out the shopping delivery, don't get a lot for the money these days, do you?Had a message from Woolsery, he has been banned again, for pointing out rudeness by another poster, not on this forum BTW, who then took offence, so David will be absent for a while. He has appealed but doesn't hold out much hopeLurgy eyes are less itchy, but they did water when I saw the cost of my Asda deliveryEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
