Well still got the bug and its 10days, brain fog and coughing so the only exercise is getting up from the couch still.
Being Christmas annoyingly people want me to think!
It's gone up to 12c (feels 4c) with a chill wild wind and dark and cold.
Didn't think the garden (or me) could look worse but we did get one heavy frost and now rain so it's a cold wet soggy mess.
Wow, Snowfire....I have some of their cold cream and its brilliant for sore lips. Shame the other stuff doesn't work Blue.
Just dream about sitting in the warm sun with a book - it will happen eventually.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sitting in the warm sun with a book - paradise
They'v sobered up at the Met Office - the app says it's 12' (feels like 9') 33 mph winds and light cloud. Seems about right to me, I've even risked putting a wash on.
I'd not heard of SnowFire before Jean brought me some, I'll not be buying any meself. Reminds me of Tiger Balm - a sort of greasy/essential oils/desperate smell in solid form jobber. At least I haven't wasted any of her rare treasure for it didn't work!
10 days - you've surely broken the back of it twopenny. Do you have a husband/wife/general minion to keep you topped up with warm drinks, drinks to warm your core, cold drinks for your cough, ice-cream on demand, tasty little things to eat, a pile of books, and the telly remote?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -
Another one with dark, windy & wet weather this morning, garden looking just as 2P described, "a cold wet soggy mess.". Certainly no chance of gardening today, before I climbed out of my sick bed this morning and opened the curtains I had thought about pruning some apple trees soon, Ha, fat chance f that this week, forecast is awfulMy lurgy continues, eyes, nose, throat, brain all less than optimal, which was a very low bar to start withMoved the very last Cape Primrose cuttings from conservatory into house on window sill, I'd missed a small tray of late ones but be a shame to neglect them nowEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Being Christmas annoyingly people want me to think!I sincerely hope you beat the bugs soon, 2p and Farway. Brain fog is a recognised symptom of Covid, but I'm sure you know all that. Personally, I go out for a short while each day, because I must, and I usually find observing nature lifts my mood. But yeah, right now, it's warmly soggy and windily unpleasant, so observing the wildly swinging bird feeders will probably do for the next hour or two.As there's nothing outdoors to get excited about, I'll post a picture of Grumpy, daughter's longest surviving fish. I think he was an original in her tank when she was about 14, so as she's 32 now, he's a real survivor. He doesn't rush around much or care what the other flashy characters in the aquarium are doing; just gets on with his own thing. There's a moral there, somewhere!

Aww Farway, just keep warm and see it out. Seems the only way. Its a miserable bug that makes flu (2 days sleep, then 5 tired) seem preferable.Blue, no, no one to talk sense into me when I try to 'keep going' and with christmas, bathroom fitter and all it entails, no peace. But today the coughing has stopped and my head sort of clearing. Fingers crossed. At the risk of this thread turning into a version of the Red Cross, how are the ribs/chilblains?Seems the blokes are doing better.Well the thermometer says 16C but its still raining, blowing a hoolie and grey. The garden looks much like I do.

Been away, not that far from Woolsery. Train down between strikes was fine. Weather went from fine to frozen, to extremely icy (falling on frozen ground) although we had a good walk on the hills in the afternoon; to warm, very wet and windy.
So this morning, I discovered my train was not running as the line is flooded.
Bit of a diversion but now heading back to less erratic weather over the festive season.
Like Woolsery I like to get out everyday, so sheltered in the greenhouse yesterday and cleaned the windows, checked over over plants for dead leaves etc.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -

Besides, on the internet, one can claim to be almost anybody.
I have to be very careful and predicate what I say with a warning to always take advice from your own doctor, but there's a theory posited by bona fide research scientists, which suggests the repeated use of a certain popular medical procedure may fine tune the immune response at the expense of broad-spectrum protection. Studies suggesting this are quite new and may not yet have been fully peer-reviewed, but I think it's OK to say there's an ongoing discussion.Just thought I'd mention that, as I'm a big fan of the natural human immune response and ways to keep it working well, especially in one's autumn years.Dr Mikolaj Raszek who brought me this news over the usual channel for video lectures, is another fan of the great outdoors and the role of positive thinking. His isn't the easiest accent or subject to understand, unfortunately, but at least he chooses some good scenery!
Not sure which line was flooded RAS, but DD2 got down the Tarka line OK this morning. I'm hoping she returns OK the same way, as I'm about to set off for the station....On topic, it's raining hard again!0 -
The immune response is all very well Woolly but here we are literally surrounded by people who don't give a rodents nether regions about going out and coughing all over other peeps and the shopand stock in general.Congratulations Ras on making it anywhere by train. I have yet to achieve that. The wind has finally turned S here and a lot milder. Still now it's dark so gardening is not on the agenda.
