YoungBlueEyes said:Hot Lips… wasn’t that her from M*A*S*H..?This won’t be a rambling post. Chilblains have taken over my left hand, toes are hot and itchy so I guess that’s progress. Hand is nearly a ladle, the fingers aren’t v flexible at all 😣Topping up my bird feeder this morning I slipped on the icy-slimy decking and came down on a fence post, so now I’ve bruised ribs too 🙄I thought 'Hot Lips' was a song by Rod Stewart, but it seems he was aiming lower...Sorry to hear how awful the chilblains have become. Maybe, like many ailments, adults get them worse than kids. I can only reiterate my recommendation for good rubber-dipped, knitted gloves, which make my life on the smallholding a whole heap better than it was before their discovery. These are the ones I use, because I have small hands:Decking is the Devil's work in winter, but it's not always convenient to rip it all out, as the DIY buffs on here often suggest. I nailed chicken wire onto the cakewalk between the house and the shed we inherited here in the early days, and never met my rear end travelling in the opposite direction again. We have the thaw incoming here now. It snowed in the unreasonable hours, and that had turned to rain when I surfaced properly.Looks like flooding could be next!

Oh dear YBE, you're really in the wars there, hope the chemist can help with "itch cream" but take care, here the forecast is rain onto frozen ground giving very slippy iceM.A.S.H, yep, Hot Lips Houlihan, I wonder in today's woke age how that nickname would go down?Nice picture of a money tree Woolsery, closest I have is Crassula ovata, which reminds me to keep my eyes open because mine flowers in my cold conservatory around this time of yearMy only gardening has been moving the Cape Primrose cuttings from the cold conservatory to an indoor window sill, slight concern about the temperatures, although frost free in there they were looking a tad unhappy and having got them this far I'd hate to lose them now & have to start again
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1 -
Gawd woolsery I’m gonna have to block you for a wee while, I can’t be laughing with these ribs 😁😣
It’s a sorry state of affairs here this morning. Himself is still in bed sweating and shivering and sneezing and carrying on like a man on his death bed. It isn’t just manflu, it’s full on manthrax apparently. I’m for sealing him in that room, give meself a bit of peace ha ha!The Oracle over the road came round first thing before she left for church. She’s brought me a wee tube of “Snowfire” and some wool gloves that have rubbery gel bobbles all over the underside. I expect the gloves are doing more than the ointment but there’s deffo a slight improvement. Saves me going out too.I’m pleased I bought her a nice Christmas gift cos she’s pure lovely 😊As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...1 -
Now you mention it, "Snowfire" is in the old memory banks somewhere. It's certainly not in the online outlets' 'available' lists right now, so you have a rare thing there.I dare say, if I wanted to delve, DB has some of the stuff in her vast array of shoe boxes of medical stuff, but I never do. I'm hot on my supplements, and on one pill that's helped my blood pressure, but reluctant to bother with anything else, unless things become truly dire. Then, it's most likely to be the heavily taxed stuff that comes out of Scotland which comes to the rescue! On topic: peeing down and about 8c now!0

I’ve given up on the Snowfire. I don’t care how rare it is, the smell is vile and it’s too greasy….Just started raining here, -3 say the drunkards at the Met Office…
I’m not a pill taker unless things get beyond the beyonds (as mum always used to say). She also used to say that most illnesses were because “you’ve a cold core” and “drink that for the heat it’ll give ya”. A good glug in coffees is definitely giving me a warm glow 🥃😊As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...1 -

Bands in those days were the preserve of folk with trumpets, horns, etc. Nowadays, I particularly enjoy Japanese female groups like Lovebites or Band Maid, and also The Warning from Mexico, whom I sponsored before they became semi famous....
Beats looking at old blokes my age, and they're incredibly talented
Whaddya mean you've never heard of them?On topic: Went dark very early and still raining hard, so I got wet fetching the logs and locking up the chickens and ferrets.Apparently, there is some football match or other on, which might be connected with the lack of traffic. I don't think the bridges have been washed away just yet.

@Woolsery Yes, it's standard pub-rock stuff - Whole Lotta Rosie, Parklife, Chelsea Dagger, Tie Your Mother Down. As for Japanese bands, try Sadistic Mika Band - titles - Time To Noodle, Suki Suki Suki.
Anyway - cold, damp'n'orrible out, watching the football - extra time. Allez les Bleus! Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0 -
Currently 6 feels like 1, going to 11 feels like 8 but with 40 mph winds overnight/tomorrow
Will it shift the tons of white stuff or freeze the last bits and blow the drifts onto the icy pavements making them worse?
Been slipping and sliding all along the waterfall with me on the roof today, ice blockage on one joint of gutter has meant major drips but also chunks of snow falling off
Went to nearby shop and the wind was bitter felt colder than the recent minus 10 with low wind
Football, sounds exciting, no tv here and no real interest but would be nice if Messi can go out with the World Cup win, Mbappe has time for many more
Penalties Ughhhh
