  • Jeez it is properly cold out there this morning, all icy and treacherous. No standing outside for a while here. I had to give my back door a bit of a shove for it to open.

The hawthorn is beautifully frosted and sparkly so I've taken a picture. I'll have to come on here on my phone to upload it though.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.
  • It doesn’t look as good in this pic as it does in real life (as ever). Next door’s security light came on at just the right time 🙂

Two types of cold hereabouts. On Monday it didn't rise above freezing all day and was overcast with frost on the ground. But it was quite nice, out of the wind.

Yesterday it was a little warmer; the pavements were dry, but damp. That seemed to seep through clothes quickly. I had a meeting up in the Pennines and really noticed how different the sharp dry cold there was. It was noticeably colder with frost patches in sheltered areas and the the air felt sharp when you breathed in.

Need to check a few younger plants in the garden and drag them in as it's due to be very cold tonight.

I agree with the first comment. If I'd followed through having said it, I'd not be here now! Shan't say more.
As for the second, you'd think with nearly £400bn spent and all those wonderful experimental wotsits, the lurgy you mention would be long gone by now? DB and I haven't tested for it, so when we had coughs and sneezes a few weeks ago, we called that a 'cold' ...the first for 4 years. I can't say any more about that either, without getting into bother!  :|
Instead, here's a picture of our white Eupatorium; a picture in summer and almost as good last weekend.
Same old, same old, here. The roads are OK, as we have plenty of gritters, but with the train strike, DD2 has had to resort to driving into Exeter. Not sure how 15minute communities will work in our village; go 15 mins in any direction and you'd most likely be in a field! :D

Still frozen here, but just cold frozen not pretty frozen, dull but could be worse, no snow at least.

I'm another not testing for lurgy, but I think I have cold symptoms, too cold & frozen to attempt any gardening, not even go down the shed & look for flower pots

Yup haven't tested but fits the profile and a lot like the original varient I had. This is no cold (which I originally thought optimistically) and neither is it flu. But it will go it's course and nothing will make it quicker. Leaving disinfectant wipes and keys out for the mechanic that is picking up my car for it's MOT. For a fit youngster he's surprisingly risk adverse ;-)

It seemed milder this morning, by 2pm it started to get nastily cold. So the most I've done is take some gone off veg to the compost heap and check the bird food. Even they are not around today.

What I'm thinking is that I'll draw a plan with photos to ask for advice on how to make my back garden more interesting. I'm stuck between the location of drains and the need to change shape.
Ideas are not usually the thing you end up with but others perspective sometimes clears your brain for what is possible and you want.
At the moment my head is going round in circles.

Woolsery that Eupatorium in frost is beautiful! I have no idea what it is but worth it for the winter shapes.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Here it is, though mine isn't 'pure,' being grown from seed. I also don't have it in a damp position:

-4c or -5c tonight, :# but it all changes at the weekend! :)
