Another dull, grey & cold wind day. looks like more non gardening, would be good for a bonfire I suppose.
I must have missed it this year, where are the complaints about something on top of a bonfire? Must be somewhere, or is it a conspiracy of silence?😎
Still no sign of my tom seeds, guessing postal delays after me saying how good post was at the weekend. I've bought from her before so no reason to suspect skull duggery
My Pak Choi seedlings are starting to tend towards leggy. I may put them out into the conservatory, cooler & a tad more light.
Apart from that, that's it

Much the same here. Still grey and windy but not quite as much as yesterday which helps. You can tell it's daylight and the wind probably wouldn't knock you over.
Heading to the bank and maybe the library where I can sit in warm, brightly lit comfort and try to sort out notes on the family tree. Then a journey round the back roads with all the other diverted traffic to go dancing in a cold hall 🙄 . I think there's two roadworks before the main one but every day is a surprise. 🚦🚖
I did look at a potted plant that's needed to go in the garden for months. I think it's going to have to struggle on a couple more days as I've things on tomorrow too. There's a bunch of rooted Jasmine cuttings in a bucket waiting to be potted up for one of the librarians. I think she's given up by now 😊
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

A very grey day with a suggestion of broken sunshine later for a few hours, but temperatures probably failing to reach double figures.😒Yesterday, I saw the 'ice' warning light on the pessimistic car for the first time in many months. There was a volunteer car service meeting that went on much longer than usual, mainly because we'd realised fares aren't now covering costs. Like everything else, they'll have to increase. 😕
I wasn't going to alter my tomato varieties much for '27, but Farway has made me think about unusual ones again.🤔 Nothing definite yet. Judging by what happened this year, we shall have plenty of volunteers on the compost heap and in the polytunnel beds.🤣 It's quite likely our neighbour, Mr Canute, will see a few too, along with Teucrium hiranicum, a 5th column infiltrator from Iran and Turkey that greatly pleases the local insects. Will I be arrested for subversion? Sadly, that's probably more likely than Mr Canute selling his house in the current market! 😪
Blimey, it is Bonfire Day, not that it appears to matter much now, especially following so hard on the heels of Halloween, which wasn't a thing when I were a lad. No squibbing allowed now, except in Bridgwater, of course:
Halloween passed here silently, and I've a sneaky suspicion Firework Night will be similar, unless the toffs further down the lane hold a party, but then they don't need an excuse….One can rent a chalet barn there for about £2k a week. 😲
The main border I sometimes show is looking suitably forlorn. If you look closely, there are a few flopping verbena bonariensis, and there's a fuchsia hidden somewhere, but we've never bothered much about flowers for this gloomy end to the year.
