Wet and windy here, still dark and dismal but not too cold and so far haven't lost anything.

Love the sound of Apricot chillies Dusty. Seems like they are mild so I could use them. In home made bread would be good perhaps. I met someone who'd made Apricot chutney. Intresting.

Been sorting out the thousands of photographs and decided not to post what I was hoping to but now I've no idea which folder they might be in 🤨 or it might be nepeta which would withstand trampling

So to keep it simple I saw this in the summer. Thought of Farways poppies and the lavender is hardy too. Prickly for the pooches 😉

They are mild, and chilli bread sounds good, though I prefer Sainsbury's walnut pavé. I think apricot refers more to the colour than the taste, but when I get a really ripe one, I'll know.🙂 Chilli chutney is definitely something I'd go for.😃

I can't remember two windier days than those we've just had, though similar weather has occurred many times. The picture below was taken on Friday afternoon, when I had a hunch the leaning Wych Elm might not survive the storms. It was marginally alive until the summer drought.

By yesterday lunchtime the tree was down.😮 It didn't hit Mr Canute's caravan or damage our new hornbeam hedge.😁 Although it broke a three-year-old hawthorn at the crown, that will probably re-grow. Best of all, the Cotoneaster lacteus we bought and planted in spring, also survived, despite its support stake being broken. Hurrah! 😊

Here's a photo from another angle

Even the Leycesteria wasn't badly damaged.

Now comes the interesting part. Mr New thinks it's his tree…. 😏

Bright and sunny this morning, but the blooming wind persists, and it's colder.

    Weak men. Hard times.
