Awful weather - typical Brits talk

GB, we have spotted hedgehogs with white blotches on them too. They aren't the ones we've marked, because we use very small blobs of correction fluid.
I've now resized the trail camera picture from Friday night, and it's loaded at last! It shows the fox arriving on the scene and two small hogs, one drinking and the other peeping around the corner of the feeding box. There's a half paving slab on top of the box to (hopefully!) prevent the fox from opening it or turning it over.
Farway, you could try resizing.
Better than nowt.
Is MSE putting a restriction on size, I wonder?
OT: Cool, grey, promise of sunshine later. It was very late yesterday.

Morning all, on World Conker Championships Day
Tapeley looks like a place you could spend all day at Dusty, always something new round the corner or over the wall
Who'd've thunk Fox meets Hog would've gone so peacefully, and I'm glad to hear MiniHog is a greedy gannet
Are you and walking friend gonna buy yourselves bubble gum and baseball caps or something, to stop people worrying about your possible frailty?
Bah grrr erigeron *sigh* Would Tapeley make a good Rottery Acres..? Might be the only way some of us get eriginon is to move into a house that already has them ha haa!
We did have a good day at the beach 2p, we went to Filey in case the Food Festival was any good (it wasn't), then on to Whitby to take advantage of the lovely weather
Pics to follow, possibly. It's the same here with shrinking services/shops but they're throwing up houses like someone's paying them like there's no tomorrow. Doesn't make a bluddy bit of sense to me, but then no-one's asking me so... Have you tried your compost toms yet...?
Lol at you clutching your pearls Farway, that woulda had me looking twice too
Speaking of which, it's now Fanta Fuhrer
Fingers crossed they realise to cut that tree before you lose power lines. The Doncaster house - looking at recently sold nearby ones, it's toppy for what/where it is, but maybe too much garden as well. Too much house+land for too much money, who ever thought that'd be A thing? Oh and I've worked out why you're fluey and achey - bit too much bleach in that jag
Yours looks like a healthy sized hog gb, maybe the white powder is flea powder? (Do they do that to the ones they release..?)
OT bright enough out there but it's still and damp and not the weather for getting a wash out
I'm only waiting on the sun getting up a bit further so I can get out in my garden and de-weed the lawn a bit more. Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.8 -
I don’t know about size being everything, but it is for rights of way for boats/ships -
Good to see Whitby hasn’t lost its lighter side (remember hefty slabs of Whitby flapjack?) -There was a lovely sky driving home last night -
And there was a bit of goodness left in when viewed from my back door -
This is annoying. I’m on my phone so I can put pics on, then save draft, then press F5 on my laptop so I can do writing but the comment box is empty! What’s occurring?!
Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.8 -
This is the one it wouldn’t load. Well it is a load of rubbish 🙃Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.7 -
What a great sign!
I'd like to see more of that sort of thing.
So that's what Whitby looks like. I've always been curious when I read people's holiday posts.
I think because I've seen so little of the coast around there it's like a foreign country 😁
Love the hog pics 😊
I remember the ice house vividly. Such peaceful gardens because they aren't overrun with visitors, you can take your dog round and the view is amazing
Not much to say yet. It's very dark and gloomy. A lot of ground rock hard so watering is on the list. Like Farway, no rain predicted.
A lot of eating apples which may be cooked down for the freezer. Saw a basket of eaters I think outside a house. May gather some for chutney during the week.
There's lots of things I could do so I'm going to sit with my book and coffee and think about it 😉I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Aw, are you trying to make me feel homesick with your Whitby pic, YBE. It looks like it was a lovely day. My DDs were up on the moors fairly near to Whitby yesterday, sitting outside a pub having a drink (and a Parmo, if anyone knows what that is) it was that nice
Love the fox and hounds hogs pic, Dusty.
I wondered about flea powder for greenbee's hog too.
It's nice and sunny now, but it was fretty rain (0% chance of rain, according to the forecast) when I was hanging the washing outside...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Autumnal pic from October 2021… 🍄

Well I'm not bothering to look at the weather forecast tonight.
It was supposed to be sunshine today but it's been gloomy, cold and uninspiring. Much like yesterday when the sun didn't shine 😬
In fact it's so cold since sundown I'm a little worried about what it will do to the plants. Hopefully they are made of tougher stuff than me!
Forgot to say, Farway all I've heard from people who had the flu jab is how horrible they felt for a few days after. Sounded most indignant. Though I hear it most years 😉
Poppy, I loved the photo bombing pigeon. Excellent shot and so sharp 🙂
See, give me enough time and I remember everything.
Now Bluey asked me a question months ago. I meant to answer 🤭I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Good morning all, on World Novel Week
There was me thinking I was gonna get a daily thing out of it for a bit of fun and they wait for me to discover it and change it a weekly thing. Bit mean is that.
Whitby's lovely 2p, but tbh it's similar to a lot of the coastal town on this side - very picturesque and historic and hilly. Except all the goth stuff, I don't think anyone else goes for it like Whitby does. Like wosname said about the Giant's Causeway - worth seeing, but not worth going to see. So what book you reading...?
I didn't realise you were a Whitbyette pp, I would've taken more pics! Go on then, what's a Parmo..? I love the light on your toadstools, very ethereal
Miserable out there this morning, all misty and drizzly and dreich. Mild though, currently 11'c with a high of 15' to come. The wind wants to pull it's finger out and shove the misty nonsense along. I like it fine when I'm sat inside looking at it but I don't like walking to work in it.
Himself was off before 0500, working away again this week. Can you believe it's far greater security working in an airport than a prison? Not a surprise perhaps to anyone who reads the news
They've had to submit lists and pictures of every single tool they'll be taking on site - size, shape, condition - and have it signed off. Then it'll be checked when they get there to see if it all matches before they can start work. It's not even a big main airport
The prison people were happy with "I'll be taking lots of tools, but no fags/lighters/phone", and didn't mind them nipping in and out to the van for a different hammer or new saw blade or whatever. Queer is that eh. Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.7 -
I think hungry badger meets hoglets might go differently, but no badgers around here since the cull. We took MiniHog over to the Hedgehog Lady yesterday afternoon, just to err on the safe side. While eating well, we want to be sure he's developing OK. HL also has access to the Senior HL for the area, should his progress be poor.YoungBlueEyes said:Who'd've thunk Fox meets Hog would've gone so peacefully, and I'm glad to hear MiniHog is a greedy gannet

As for lurgy, Mrs Dusty and I have halved the number of winter bugs we suffer from. I can't say how, but an appreciation of how to support the body's natural immune system has been helpful.
I wouldn't worry. The various special days can run concurrently within the Novel Week, otherwise how would we fit them all in? Something like Aardvark Day would have to go.YoungBlueEyes said:Good morning all, on World Novel Week

And now AI can write novels 'in the style of,' who knows how long human authors will last, anyway? Mind you, we had something like that back in the old days too, called Mills & Boon.
I've had two black trucks, the sort that cost upwards of £60k, sitting on our drive while typing this. It was slightly disconcerting, but I've learned these things happen because the commercial yard down the road has no 'proper' address. We regularly have chaps banging on the door demanding our pallets!
It must be frustrating for the people who rent a caravan, sited unlawfully, out of view behind the barns. East European delivery drivers aren't noted for their patience, so we often see the lady, traipsing around, looking for a parcel that's been delivered to someone else in desperation. I always say "Try No 1's wood shed" and it does work, sometimes. Never mind, the digital eye-dee will solve all this, or there's that Wot 3 Words. Ours are.....ah, that would be telling!
Today's plant photo is from the Tapeley Park terrace. It's a very thorny, tall shrub called Colletia paradoxa, or more easily, the Anchor Plant, after the shape of the thorns. Apparently quite tender, it shows how mild the weather must be along the Taw/Torridge estuary. I won't try it here!
Hurrah! It loaded.
MSE may be working normally again.OT: Same as yesterday, but more wind. Must have been last night's curry.PS: Nearly forgot pp's classic fungi. Lovely!
Why is it I've never seen any of those, let alone when I have a camera handy? :'( “ A government big enough to supply everything you need, is big enough to take everything you have.” Thomas Jefferson8
