Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Lovely hoglet pics, Dusty. I should have realised they'd be older and less hairbrush like
It's when they're first born and all pink that freaks me out.
Bummer about the laptop screen, YBE. Hope it can be fixed or replaced.
I'm burying my head in the sand regarding the energy price rises, twopenny, I can't face the comparisons at the moment, although I'd do what Farway did and use the MSE comparison tool, I just CBA.
The weather forecast for the weekend is looking very bad for ferry crossings - 40/50mph winds - expecting our first ferry to be cancelled, but will wait and see. If it does sail, I think it'll be a roller coaster crossing - I just hope everyone has had their travel sickness pills - I can't cope with people throwing up...'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Take your ginger nut biscuits with you poppy.
Sometimes it can be exciting. I remember hanging onto the egg frying station while the only crew hung onto the huge orange juice dispenser 😆 as we rolled one side to another we were sliding back and forth. Mind I also remember sitting down and keeping my eyes on the horizon for a while. It was some crossing! Mind it was 25c which made it more palatable.
Bluey have you got some IT people at work that could help?
Ask on the techie forum and ask for words of one syllable 🙂
Or YouTube it?
Farway that's a real treasure to find. Aren't they splendid 😍
How can they manage to kill wallflowers? Their nearly indestructible.
Oh bother! I'm over the pages and I haven't mastered going back and forth on this thing.
Just taking a tea break from trying to deal with the rot and my bodging on the garage door.
Back to it.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I did laugh at they need more practice ybe...shame about the laptop, is it definitely for the fjords? So I went to the allotment to take pics [ there's a large body of works to do this winter for sure] and here is the hedge, primarily made because the wind just slams across mine there, there's no shelter...There's another one in progress down the bottomSo Dusty, I saw your bananas, I'd like to show you mineI think you could say it's safely pining there....That's a good feeding station, I'll be trying to make a hedgehouse in the wall when I make it but I haven't seen any here for years.I'm also impressed with a strawberry lawn, much better use for it
Love that you said go hang to everything else to get a photo...
Good robin mid-whistle!Sunny and fairly warm today but I'm off the Germany tomorrow so it's bound to be colder there...Some ham hocks and dunkel beer will sort that out though....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -

We have it naturally in our living hedge, but don't do anything with it.
I have no bananas. They probably wouldn't last long enough to buy tickets to Norway up here! Anyway, I've no time for farting-about, wrapping stuff up etc.Was it Bluey with her posh Chatsworth honeymoon photos?
They had some fantabulous glasshouses there, even better than those at Clovelly Court. (Reprise photo:)
2p, the hole on the feeding station should be too small for cats and if we keep shifting it around in the same rough area, the hogs won't mind, but the rats will stay suspicious....I hope!A lovely warm day here, somewhat ruined by having to mow grass that refuses to slow down! I also collected fallen apples from just one tree, and even shared between 2 dumpy bags, they were too heavy to drag along. In the end, I used the ride-on to pull them to the yard. There, they'll be split into more bags tomorrow, so I can lift them into the van. They're heading for some porkers, who'll enjoy them. It's a crying shame, but at least they won't be left to rot.
Just say, "No!"7 -
Gingernut biscuits are now on my shopping list, twopenny, thanks for reminding me about them. I’ve also got some Bertigo meds to take with me, as they’re sold in pharmacies as travel/motion sickness tablets.
Your hedge is HUGE, taff, I bet that took some putting together. I hope it works for you as a windbreaker.
What’s the wee houseplant next to your ex banana plant?? I saw it on a house programme yesterday and wondered what it was - I love it.
Have a lovely time in Germany.
Btw, I’ll see your ex banana plant and raise you my ex pineapple plant …🍍
I’m gutted ☹️ it was smelling very pineappley a couple of weeks ago and I think the fruit must have ripened. I never did get around to propagating the babies that were growing, so I might see if they can be saved. Alas, I think the parent plant is already en route to the Fjords…'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Sorry Dusty and ybe, it was your cannas [ former] and your bananas [latter] [ good job I didn't use the wrong your there innit ybe?
] Yes hedge garlic, it's all over, I leave it do it's thing but there are tulips in there somewhere and the big thing is a baington leek...I really need to clear an area for that..
PP, I feel your pain...between you, me ybe and farway, we have a lot of plants wanting to go to the fjords...the non norwegian plant is a Chinese money plant, a friend gave it to me as a baby about four months ago, it's grown loads and likes water, a bonus really.Yes ,it is a bit bigThe hedge is a lot less scrappy looking in person, all the main twig bits are in the center and 've shoved loads of bits on top and in the sides s it does look a bit like a stiff wind will blow it over but it did last during the superwind last week without moving an inch [ sigh of relief from me...]
Have a lovely time with hopefully no sickness or berties...

Love the hedge Taff!
If ivy grows through it you'll get birds, butterflies and insects too.
I was watching them clustered round an ivy hedge the other day and mourned my ivy tree that someone cut down.

Morning all
I'll not try to fix laptop again - it's done this before and apparently it was the connector/s between the lid and the body had worn out with all the opening and closing it goes through. There's a 2nd hand shop near my bank in Posh Town, so I'll nip in Friday.
I forgot to say - I loved your wee robin pp, imagine catching him mid-note, brilliant 😁
That's a good looking hedge taff, there's a lot of power in a hedge. With a bit of luck something green will grow through it like 2p says and you'll have bugs and wee birds in there in no time ☺️
Eco Worrier has been replaced with Alice in Wonderland. She used to work in an aforementioned purpley cheapo hotel chain, so she thinks everything at our place is wonderful. Leaving at 1700, no weekends, no emails/phonecalls at home. Hotel insider tip - the purpleys don't have the biggest beds, TravellingLodge and the one that's not a little twisty horned deer also have great big beds. The reason to pick the last two over the purple one is their windows open a tiny wee bit 👏🏻
OT it was a lovely mild night after all that sunshine yesterday. Cloudy today with a high of 13', possibly. Rain around lunchtime, they say, but they say it's raining now and it's not 🙄My husband told me to stop speaking in numbers, but I don't 1 2.7 -
Morning folks, all this rain chatter & I've just had to water the pots this morning, on the 1st October
, it's just not right
Supposed to warm up by this afternoon, it was like summer yesterdaySeems the rain, yellow and normal, may not get down here, just windy pops.YoungBlueEyes said:Eco Worrier has been replaced with Alice in Wonderland. Juicy, but slightly sharp / sweet. While watering this morning I spotted my mystery cyclamen have come back, just leaves for now.Mystery because I never planted or sowed any, high hopes they like it there and settle in.Flower? Maybe in time

Look, I hate to mention it but....... I gave a tiny banana plant to my then fiancé which lived in his residential caravan with a wood burner.
It grew to over 6' up and wide. Took 6pts of water a day and dripped moisture on whoever was under it.
After 2yrs he bought it back to me and I had to keep walking round it.
Donated it to a building society office 😆 think they moved it on shortly when they realised.
Started cloudy, brightening up a tad. More domestic nonsense today. Does it ever stop? Since the net they seem to forever find things to tell you to do 😬
Great result for pear trial Farway! Do your fruit stores ever draw fruit flies? I seem to be unable to get rid no matter how much I clean up.
And free cyclamen 🙂 I've found they dawdle around for ages then suddenly spread. Great value plants blooming on dull days and need no care.
Bluey she sounds a keeper. Sounds like you have already taken to her.
Have you got anyone locally who can fix those hinges? Have you asked the techies? We have a couple of guys who can sort things like that out here. Gives you time to look around for what you want and move files.
So we have 2 travellers. More photos of gardens from away maybe
