Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Well, those ones are supposed to be green, but they've been in a rain shadow (not to mention drought, so shadow not really needed) all summer, and they go red in protest when very dry...Saw a cloud which looked almost exactly like yours today YBE, but driving and no handy layby...no rainbow though, despite lots of sun and showers...

Well it's been some toasty sunshine where I went for a lunch treat then showers all afternoon. Heavy but thankfully no hailstones! Wow Bluey 😮
Got some glass spice jars cheap and a spice rack from the charity shop and now all my collected seed is arranged because I tried all sorts to store them but couldn't find them or forgot them so next year should be blooming gorgeous 🌺🌼🥀🪻🌻
All pots sat down on their bottoms so that the predicted storm tomorrow won't break any.
That must decree that it won't happen!
Still no birds in the garden or area. I was in the woods today (drinking coffee and eating cake) and heard only one bird 😐
Where are they all?
Neighbours son parked ready for a 4-5am start on a Sunday 😬 so I may not be chirpy either tomorrow.
How long does karma take?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Quick post this morning cos we're off in a wee bit and I still need a shower. Himself is still in bed and hasn't even packed yet *sigh*
Farway you've reminded me to check my apples before I go, I don't want them falling to the ground and laying there rotting/being eaten by toothy creatures before we get back. A couple of your toms look ready for a bum-smeary session.
Did yous do well in the Country Show then Dusty? Did you do fruit+flowers or feathers+fluff? (Thinking of your hens and ferrets there.)
Fingers crossed you get more good clouds and sunshine and rainbows Less, all while having a handy camera. Hailstones optional.
Woohoo for veg that grows itself 2p #Shawshank really is a thingI'll ask - jars and a spice rack...? Ah for storing seeds! Brilliant, I'm having that idea. Mine are either all still in their packets (some opened), or are bum smears on carefully folded kitchen roll, and are being 'carefully stored' in tins and paperbags and that basket that's sat in my conservatory with no use other than holding things that are smaller than it. Other than the Hateful Son you sound more cheerful now, long may it last
Well we didn't pick a very good week weather-wise, have you seen the forecast for LeftHandSideLandiaHope yous are all alright pp, wort, taff, Dusty, 2p, and I think @ArbitraryRandom..? I don't know if it's meant to be a storm, or just Autumn weather.
OT sun's up, breeze is down, no rain, yet.Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.7 -

We did better than expected at the show, which was also better supported than we feared.Lots of late entries.
We only enter planty things. The ferrets were our DD's and no longer live here, while most of our hens are now OAPs, living out their days in unproductive luxury. We can't justify the £thousands it would require to rebuild their enclosure to a similar size and standard, so I patch-up the original and hope it survives! The next couple of days look like thy'll test the integrity of all our structures, trees etc.
No show photos yet, so here's a snap I took in our small woodland last week after heavy rain, when the sun broke through again:We planted all the trees here around 13 years ago. Some grew fast and shaded others out, so it ought to be thinned, but the fast growers are now too large for safe cutting by an amateur, working at ground level, so they may get to stay!Looks like rain will begin here in an hour or so and winds will get up, peaking tomorrow at around 50mph. Enjoy your break Bluey; at least things look like they'll improve as the week progresses!Just say, "No!"7 -
Dull & dry, but yellow weather warnings and some outside events have been cancelled, low flying gazebo warning.YoungBlueEyes said:Well we didn't pick a very good week weather-wise, have you seen the forecast for LeftHandSideLandia

Never mind, good excuse to take shelter in a cosy pub or Christmas festive GC cafe.Hope your apples are safe from teeth / fangs now, did you get them picked? All this lurgy about, I think I had a touch of it yesterday, felt shivery & ached, but I had some L*ms*p before bed and slept soundly, up feeling fine this morningHope everyone's lurgy has either gone or eased. With the damp & forecast the only gardening today is likely to be on the tele, GW & BG to catch up on.I had a podcast featuring the BG folks pop up on my YT feed, I may catch that as well if I can find it.Spice rack storing seeds, hmm far beyond my organisational skills. Mine are in old biscuit / sweet tins [so old, they are really tin] or seed bum smears in used envelopes. Before the wind arrives, still on a huge tree in neighbours garden that backs onto mineNumerus non sum7 -
Bon voyage Bluey 😁 have a great time. You deserve it.
Dusty that looks wonderful. Ready for birds and beasties. It must feel so good to have made something like that.
Farway I may be joining you indoors. I wanted to get on with clearing the garage but woke chilled to the bone and put the heating on for an hour. My body doesn't feel it. Don't know if it's lurgy back, Being woken at silly o'clock or just recovering from a few months of stress and mind saying REST!
Leaving the garden to recover still. It's going to need cutting back for winter when I get roundtuit.
It's dry out there, a breeze and still only 10c which is low for this part of the world.
Nothing dramatic yet.
I've put a seedpod in each to identify. Need stuff organised just in case I have to move.
The grass improver is old but looks like I'll be using it now with creaky legs and back.

Happy Holidays, YBE, hope you have a lovely time. I haven't seen the weather forecast, hope it's not too bad where you're going.
Lovely blue butterfly pics, Dusty, so delicate. I like your dappled sun through the trees too.
That pine/fir cone is huge, Farway. Sorry, Less, I'm pretty sure it was you that gave us a lesson on pine and fir cones a while back and I've failed dismally to remember which is which.
twopenny, a spice rack for seeds is inspired.
I'm still lurgified and feeling shattered with it. It's been a busy few days though as my DD was up visiting with her palsThe weather here has been changeable, but we've had some lovely rainbows alongside torrential rain. I opened the back door yesterday to throw some food out for the birds and I could see my breath!! I think somewhere in the Highlands was minus 3 overnight.
