I've never seen tomatoes do that, twopenny, very strange looking.

I'm absolutely melting here - 25 degrees and no breeze - I don't know how you cope with the prolonged heat and dryness you've been getting.

That's comforting to know Greebee , and a shame at the same time.

Still no rain forecast. I'm struggling now to get water into the ground.
I think I've lost the pyramid bay and the witch hazel. Probably the alpine strawberry.
I'm considering digging up my Daphne and potting it because it's leaves are dropping every day despite watering.

I saw someone else saying this and now I know how desperate it is.

Yes to the hot and stuffy.
Congrats on your nights sleep Poppy. Perhaps it's the start of something good?
Neighbours son parked to go at 4.45am. think I may get the cushions off the settee and sleep in the lounge just for some peace!

At least we now have a different forecast without the huge tempsa and with northerly winds 🙂

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

found a friend at my door, I'm sure it's a moth of some kind. Maybe someone knows?

    Oh what a beauty!
Yes it's a moth and very unusual with the secondary wings and fine plumes.
Can't find it in my book. I think it's a case of photo matching.

    I reckon that's one for framing 🙂

I hope everyone is doing well, Farway take your time don’t be lugging too much.
2 p I’ve had the bunged nose a couple of nights I resorted to Vicks , other brands are available!  It got windy yesterday evening which was lovely. I hope you get some respite down there soon.
Pp fingers crossed for your job .

    Dd2 reckons it’s a male vapourer moth.

I don't believe many people take note of the official heat warnings 2p. The prevailing conditions are what govern behaviour.
And yesterday it wasn't terrifically hot, or even sunny, so we chose to head for somewhere in your county for a relaxing afternoon, mucking about in water. Here's your starter for 10! :)

It was busier than the photo above suggests, but not heaving. :)  I was surprised to see crocosmias in full flower. They must've been introduced at some time, and in my opinion, didn't 'fit' with the moorland surroundings. What do you think?
The car said it was 17c when we arrived. That went up later, but it was just right for the children to go in, and there were no attacks from ants or other biting insects. Most of the people were probably locals who know the spot. No need to pay extortionate car parking fees here!  o:)
    Lovely!  <3

No real sleep again, so I'm hanging now. It'll be cooler today than yesterday, possibly. Proper coolness at the weekend, they say.

Gb do you need someone to accompany Anonymous Dog on his holiday cos I'd do it for nowt!

2p (or anyone actually) A woman came in yesterday and she was from Inja. She said the way to cope with the dry is to hold a damp hanky over your mouth and breathe through it slowly. Do it a few times a day. I am not a doctor, and she isn't either. Page turn - and I can vouch for the ibuprofen gel, I get my generic one from Savers. My toms did that too, went all shitey arsed and funny looking, so I carefully picked them off and then the blight blew in. Lost the lot :'(

Taff keep lurking and liking so we know you're ok :)

Pp you're very welcome for the info. Tbh the things I know is because I've either been through them (and know the pitfalls) or it's stuff I've read on here. The house buying board and the death/funerals+probate board are very good.

Farway grrr to the rats. Are they living there or just shopping there passing through?

Wort I got a moth pic last night but it's not a patch on your one. I can't decide if it's beautifully intricate or the stuff of nightmares...

Well it got up to 30'c here yesterday and hardly a cloud. I'm not doing well with it now tbh, it's enervating. 18' already and 27 to come.

Has cleaner been in? Lack of Dust about the place...
I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.
