Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Ooh, they look like proper apples, YBE, hope they taste as nice as they look.
I had a bird sown sunflower growing on my roof guttering last year or the year before - I left it because it was so pretty, but it did look ridiculous up there. I did laugh at your own attempt at growing one, but the bird sown ones you have are lovely at least.
I'll watch the BG episode - Mull is one of my favourite places.
OT - it's stopped raining...'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -

I've plenty of email addresses cos I struggle keeping them alive, but I've only one phone number and they ain't having it. Fairy Nuff. From a personal perspective, I'd not have a clue without the Toob and similar channels, but each to their own. Once I saw proper science being censored 5 years ago, I knew there were things worth investigating beyond the MSM, but there's a great deal of dross to wade past, wherever one goes.
Anyway, congrats on your apples, looking full of plumptiouness,
and your sunflowers too, growing away, while ours were molluscularly consumed. :'(I imagine gardens on Mull might be similar in some ways to the 2 gardens Mrs Dusty and I visited yesterday. We were supposed to see 4, but dilly-dallied on the way over Exmoor, picnicking and exploring places we'd never been to. It seems 2p does have very different weather from us, because what began as a dull and moderately warm day turned hot and overly sunny when we came within a few miles of the coast. That sunshine played havoc with taking photos. :'(Garden one was new to me, and in it's current form, was only 3 years old. The farmhouse at around 1000' was nestled into the hillside, so the garden behind had been tiered. Many huge rocks, carried downstream in the Lynmouth flood of '52 had been used to create walls, while old digger tracks made of rubber had been repurposed as edges to beds and steps.
These photos don't really do the place justice. The sunshine made full-on photography of the walls tricky.
(More later)
Ooh, like the street art, Less, but it raises questions, like Bluey's.
Looks like it may be 'redeveloped' soon.
The spider's street art is also a good spot, pp, albeit that it hints of another season around the corner.
You notice things others would probably miss.
OT: Damp feeling start, soon to be wettish for a while. Don't care, as I've admin to do with the Land Registry, who've somehow lost our property's details and my account. It was all there in 2023!

Late arrival after a very restless night with the back, no matter how I tried it would not get in a comfy position, so gave up and dozed in the reclining lounger electric chairI managed to break my floor standing light by reclining too far, and the light crashed over & showed its Chinese heritage by coming apart. Can we fix it? Yes we can!Dull and a bit breezy, but no Floris rain anticipated hereHadn't thought about hot water bottle for back YBE, I'll try that. I have some other oinkment which I dare not name on here, but it relates to heat. Maybe try both later?Congrats on the sunflowers, and the apples looking like "real" ones. One good thing about apples, once the tree knows what to do, it does it for years & years.Regarding YT & phone number. I agree with Dusty, love YT, I see it is only second to Beeb now in viewing figures. And I gave up licence and opted for Amazon P, but have dabbled in others. You don't need licence for them, unless you watch some certain live stuff, like say a footie finalBTW I watch, recorded & streamed by someone, not the Beeb, BG on YT, Only C is also on there, not that I watch that, but do like it.Looks a lovely cottage, Dusty, good use of treads, proper recycling. No gardening again today, hoping new BG pops up on YT, this week's GW appeared on there yesterdayPic is my over wintered canna, now on the way do doing something, but no flower spike yet

Glad you can fix your lamp, and trust the back will come right eventually.
It didn't rain properly here, so I filled a hole in some lead flashing with magic gunk without seeing a result, but that may change tomorrow, if we get a fleeting Floris flurry.Meanwhile, I've discovered the Land Registry do have our details, but have accidentally hidden them from the casual enquirer. That's no bad thing.
Comes up OK on map and title number searches OK. As for one's personal accounts, they delete those if inactive for a year....I think that means buying something from them, not just signing-in.
Talking of the meja, GB News is claiming to have overtaken Aunty, Sky, ITV and Channel 4. Last time I mentioned the news service I support, I was told off, but they hail from this county, and YT has finally stopped censoring them. When they were censored, membership increased. Restrictions don't necessarily have the desired effect!
On the subject of programmes from Devon, if your radio's DAB, you could do worse than have Toby Buckland's gardening show every Sunday morning. It's easy listening and today featured one of the owners of the Brendon gardens, plugging their second open day. Here are a couple of photos from her place:
Although the house is tucked into a fold of the land, as you can see, there's a precipitous drop from it into a side valley with a stream. The drop is terraced and interlaced with paths. Here's a view downwards, with Mrs Dusty surveying the bog area:
Looks like a 'harrowing' experience!
Note 'not dead yet' ash tree too!
I've resorted to a photo from last year for a middle level shot. Mrs D loved this garden, but I couldn't do it justice somehow. :'(

Loving the photos.
Dusty thank you for giving me the feel of green fields and trees. I could almost feel the refreshing cool there.
Less, I like your pained wall but I don't have a wall to paint. Maybe one day.
I have cut a hedge into a dragon before when I got bored with straight lines 🙂
Bluey, wow, your very own homemade apples. So exciting. Be sure to pick them before the 🐿️.
Do you know how to tell when they are ready to pick?
Fairway, wish I'd followed your gardening. I've had a painful hip and back for a week now, feels like two.
But I did watch Wildlife Gardens from Love my Garden. I saw what I'd like my next garden. Have to watch it online and snatch a photo from the beginning trailer. Easy care 😉
Poppy I'd love to swap a lot of sun for a bit of rain. Can't breathe through my nose it's so dry.
Got a bit of desperation time in the garden but it was a nightmare. Very hot, dusty soil but rock solid 2"down but got the last of the small veg in. Tied up the collapsing toms though the canes won't stay up in sand like soil.
Watered a lot.
Cloudy and cool this morning. There was a bit of dampness like a cloud of mist just briefly then it was sun and 27c.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I hope my apples taste good too pp, won't be long 'til I find out :clapping: I remember your roof sunflower
I like the cottage in your first pics Dusty, and using tyres and rocks like that is a brilliant idea. I like the middle level shot too, I'm a big fan of spiral-cut trees and that's a lovely one
Fingers crossed your magic gunked roof is sorted now. Imagine the land reg making you buy something to keep your account active, the filthy pigdogs. It's not like they have a lovely online shop where it wouldn't be a bother to spend a tenner. What do they think you'll buy from them?!
GB news has overtaken all those others have they? I wonder what they based that on… I think I’ve only seen a bit of it once, when they were messing on with the channel numbers on my freeview and they’d put it in someone else’s slot. Just seemed like a bunch of people shouting over the top of each other to me, I like my news calmer than that.
Booo to your back still being dicky Farway but yay to the fixable lamp. Hopefully hot water bottle and oinkment will see you right
Your beautiful red canna looks like it's on it's way over, the colours are very autumnal
A dragon hedge - why does that not surprise me 2p
No I don't know how to tell if my apples are ready, I'll take all help and hints on that. I give the trunk a knock with me knee sometimes, see if that makes them fall off, or I'll sort of fondle and wiggle them a bit, but they're holding fast for now. I'll take pruning tips too when it's time for that. Did you plant your barrel of salad btw?
How's himself taff? Is he still struggling with his broken bits? Have you stopped poking fun and making him laugh yet,,,?
OT it's rained a bit overnight but it's stopped for now. I'll get you a pic in a min 2p. Rain basically all day, they say, and windy with it, possibly. It's still out there now but it'll pick up and we'll have properly gusterly westerlys this aft, up to 43mph, perhaps. Stay safe up there pp and wort. I can't remember where we all are now, I hope anyone in it's path comes through it safely. Might @ArbitraryRandom be in Floris's path too....?Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.6 -
Patio looks a bit sparse cos I’ve everything tucked out the way in case we get a bit of Floris, but here’s me soggy grey garden 2p -

In real life these are Raindrops on Roses -

Oh and that shipbag cat startled a mouse or wee bird or something yesterday, chased it straight over my lovely blue diseased pink hydrangea and snapped the middle stems. He only did it for badness cos he can't be hungry, he gets fed at just about every house on our road. Ersehole.
Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.8 -
Beautiful Bluey!
Those roses are a front page winner if ever I saw one 🙂
Don't worry about your hydrangea, it will sprout from the middle probably, they're determined little so and SOS.
You're right with the apples, just gently lift them a little and if they come off they're ready. Usually. Though this year I've had to wrestle with the plums.
Grey but no sign of rain. Seems it's going to pass us by again.
Even the pigeons and gulls have deserted us now though I did see 2 long tailed tits playing on the fence this morning then they were gone.
Poppy hope you've got the wood in and snuggled down to see it through.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I think you'll get some, same time as us....around 13.00 for an hour or two.twopenny said:

Meanwhile, gusty occasional drizzle here.

I wonder what they based that on… I think I’ve only seen a bit of it onceJust seemed like a bunch of people shouting over the top of each other to me, I like my news calmer than that. The cottage owners are locals, but I'm not sure how long they've owned it. The garden's only 3 years old, and their house needs a lot of work, but people's priorities vary.
Back in Wiltshire, friends had a new house built in the middle of their huge plot, and then they went gardening. When we visited them, 40 years later, nothing in the house seemed to have changed at all. It was all tidy, but everything seemed to pre-date the 70s!
I don't follow GB or any other MSM news, but they pop up on the Toob. They're all bought & paid for, same as the other people acting out the Pantomime. Also, the most popular dissenters, whether they come with long hair and tattoos, or a kindly, doctorial manner, do make a considerable amount of moolah, so I treat them all with care and subscribe to another source. As for the Land Registry, they did well out of us when we were buying various neighbours' deeds to find stuff out, but we've done that.
The PDFs used to cost £3 each, but now they've gone up to £7, without any discernable improvements. Property professionals use them constantly (at a commercial rate) but for the lay person, their website, and use of terminology isn't particularly accessible.
I have patio envy now. :'( Those roses also look a darn sight healthier than ours.
The flowers are lovely, but that foliage also looks spot-free.
After garden visiting on Saturday, Mrs D and I perused parts of the village. Guess what I spotted, living on the bridge over the East Lyn river.....

Morning folks, dull & breezy with ex Floris rain due after lunch.Hope it tips down because my back is still playing up, I can shuffle about but lugging a watering can is not yet an optionAnother day of horizontal gardening, fortunately last week's BG has arrived on YT, so I can see the Mull item.Good pics again Dusty, except the East Lyn bridge one, I think this is ill eagle under new law, because it has caused me distress
Not sure on Land registry, I use them for free, Property Alerts. There is a scam where bad uns can buy your house from under you without you knowing. With the alert scheme, the LR will inform you of any searches or attempts at Title changes on your registered property.Once they "own" your house they then remortgage, and you get the bailiffs and years of griefSearch under Property title fraudVery odd, just had e-mail from MSE, I'm now promoted to Forumite and can post pictures and edit. Scratches head, bemused.Looks idyllic there YBE, rain drops on roses, great photos. If you get any Floris that should shake the apples up, any ripe ones will drop for the rats breakfastDifferent varieties do ripen at varying times, one of mine, Elstar, hangs on until October and some will be NovemberThis is next year's peas. The ripening pods of the seed I started earlier this year for pea shoots, but changed my mind after tasting them.
