It was the umm ... states of the Miggle Eest Dusty. The Scots said they'd force a vote and the next day our Beloved Leader, all on his own, and completely unconnectedly, said he'd recognise ummm people, as long as wildly unrealistic conditions were met
Back bone whatwhat??
Anyway. I like your Thalictrum, it's got a fuschia vibe going onLots of farms up for sale round here too, I genuinely don't know what'll happen. The majority wouldn't be a dam bit of use for housing but that's all folks are talking about - how it's a good thing and it'll solve the Housing Crisis
I love your pond 2p, that'll be welcome in all the heat eh. How about some of that wosname weed to clean and aerate the water..?
I'm a garden chess failure here too taff. I buy things I like the look of and don’t think further than that. And no, I don’t learn ha haa!
Sorry to hear your back's playing up again Farway. Would sofa gardening/ootoob scrolling help or hinder? Pigs + heads - if you stove the skull in with a spade/drill or summat before hand they can eat the bits. Your pears reminded me of that anusol advert
OT same really but a bit sunnier. 15’ currently and a high off 22 to come. Possibly. Mind they’ve been right these last few days, if you remove the ‘it’ll rain’ predictions.Oh and did anyone see the thing about the drunkards and aunty teaming up their comedic resources for weather predictings? Something about they were abandoning the yanquis and going back to aunty.... It scrolled by me at work but I couldn’t click for details. I’m sure that’ll make a world of difference.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Somehow I missed a Dusty and a 2p post yesterday, didn't refresh obviously...Your thalictrum is lovely Dusty, wlel done, now pass along those green fingers for the erigeron sadly lacking here. Shame about the farm too, if I had a million, I'd buy one..Funny about the tree too
Human team also needs to get it's !!!!!! in gear and stop being so stupid and believing what's written on every bus, just as an example that is.
2p, lovely pond making there, very cool to have caves and steps...and your garden looks so lush! I see the grass isn't but the rest of it, wow!ybe, you sound disturbingly competent with spades and wotnot, maybe if anyone had to shuffle off the coil, we could join forcesAnd remember, just say no to overtime...
Raining here, yay. Princess Jasmine is looking better already but she's going to have a shock when I move the bed later, more tiles to take off the wall first though.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5 -
Ah, thanks, Bluey. I knew of the... err, decision, but not much background. Decisions alter frequently, these days. Keeping up at local, national, and international levels could be a full-time job, and I already have one of those, looking after this place + the one down the lane! And sadly, I've also found the new online thingy hasn't prevented me from learning more about pigs than I really wanted to know!I mowed the neighbour's rough 1/2 acre yesterday, but it hadn't grown enough to really warrant it. Just when it seems the summer growth spurt is going to overwhelm us, it pauses.
Happens every year. August's usually a quiet time in the countryside, although now we're surrounded by more sheep and coos, constantly moving to pastures new, their discussions about it often fill the air. However, much better than traffic!
We rarely clear out our wash copper and tin bath ponds 2p. When we do, it's just whipping out some Elodea and dead lily leaves. The 'ponds' seem pretty lifeless compared with their larger cousins (no dragonflies etc) but visit at night with a torch, and water beetles, newts etc are easily spotted. They're a regular stop-off for hedgehogs and birds, too.YoungBlueEyes said:I'm a garden chess failure here too taff. I buy things I like the look of and don’t think further than that. And no, I don’t learn ha haa!Despite dry summer soil, we can't grow echinaceas, here. They hate our wet winters. Penstemons also disappear after a year or so. The main thing is to know what definitely won't work (here, it would be acid soil haters) and then keep a note of the failures 'for no obvious reason.'
Sometimes plants are borderline. At our old garden, a small edging campanula went bonkers. Here, it hangs on OK, but takes years to increase.-taff said:Lovely soapwort, is that the one you bash the roots for saponin? Sounds like it should be but no harm in asking potentially stupid questions eh...Chances are, if I started using a natural soap, the MSM would soon warn me it's bound to result in haemorrhoids long term, or worse.
Anyway, here's the white version. No scent, nor is it attractive to insects, despite looking like it should have both attributes:
And it'll cope with anything. Top dog poo border candidate!OT: Dribbly rain, giving way to dullness with occasional showers. Looks like others are getting more than 2p and us."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7 -

Expecting a wet afternoon, rain on the way, but I've heard that already this week and got a dribbleCould do with some rain, rain would mean excused watering, but we have a Yellow Warning so maybe it's all true
Sofa is fine, it's the getting upright again that is the problem. All's well when locked in position, it's the movement that hurts.YoungBlueEyes said:Sorry to hear your back's playing up again Farway. Would sofa gardening/ootoob scrolling help or hinder? I've not seen the Ansusol ad, is it a bit cheeky?Picked my white cucumber, I'm sampling it this lunchtime, along with the figs I picked.Caught the figs just right, slight cracking on the skins which I suppose is what attracted the fliesSpotted a ripe outdoor tom, and some beetroot I'd given up on, only two small ones, but my first HG beetroot for yearsJust refreshed, the white Saponaria looks like it would brighten up DP border, added to keep a look-out listFollowed the link, part of mission is to counter the Global Boiling misinformation, two trusted organisations combining to present truth & accuracyHere are my figs, slurp

Lovely fig photo Farway. Not easy to do.
Looking forward to hearing about the flavour of your lunch.
Now I think I know what to look for in Soapwort now. Didn't know they came in 2 colours. Would that be breeding or natural?
I'll keep my eyes open.
I wouldn't move outside my area Bluey, it has sea, deep wooded river valleys and wild open countryside.
I have seen a car I want. Wide Mercedes open top with a Saluki in the passenger seat. Saw that yesterday 😀
Or the gold Mercedes camper van!
Wort, some say lush, others overgrown 😉
Shame to leave it after so much hard work. Thinking cuttings already and looking at potted fruits etc being sold off cheap right now.
As I'm never going to replace what I bought before COVID without a small fortune.
Pond water? I've tried hay, plants and moving water and it's mostly in shade. Sometimes the easiest route is the obvious. Clean it.
Tesco's have some small sad Apple trees reduced, Morrisons have mostly dead plants.
33c out in the garden again so it's a no go for gardening. Maybe later. I tried to dance and beggered up my hip.
So cleaning the pot pond for the fountain I can do on my knees 🤔
We had a bit of mist wet this morning but sun and heat this pm.
Ok got to it and sheesh it's hot even in the shade 😎
Scrubbed my big pot pond, jeyes fluid on the algae. No idea if that will help, and cleaned the pump filter and it's sounding a lot better. More like a fountain and less like someone relieving themselves.
Realise I need to raise the front of the pond if I can - or reduce the back.
And I have a use for this.
Was fancying a cool crisp spinach salad but the stuff out of the bag was limp and disappointing.
Having failed miserably growing salad in the past because of slugs, I'll put a large pot with the salad seeds into the middle of the this and water. Ha! Let's see them defeat that 😈
Might start tomorrow, you don't need it big or acres when it's for one and occasional.
Any dos and don't hints and tips I'd be grateful for.
Well that's a week's worth of post so I'll just read for the next few days 😊I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

I moved the bed. The woodlice will be talking about the Apocalypse for years...there were a fair few of them too, hopefully they've all found their way out now and back under rotting wood. That is quite a genius idea 2p for salad growing. Also, re ponds, I got told don't worry about oxygenators and that gubbins, put in as many plants as you can and that will keep it clear. So I followed that advice and stuck in one of those solar pumps , a little one, and the water is still clear two years on. I have a hottunyia, some reeds [ self seeded], mini lily wotsits, some kind of longish plant [ not iris, they're in a bucket to the side]. Seems happy enough...And a gert big log that sits in there for birds to hop on.Not much happening gardening, I have a tip run tomorrow so hopefully the weekend will be free.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

I wondered when someone was gonna ask taff
Or maybe you all just think I'm a mad axe murderer pig feeder... Years ago himself used to work on a pig farm and that's where I've got my info from. It was a family farm and back in Ye Olden Dayes they used to err... make full use of the pigs
#TimesWere'Ard #NoJudgement Anyway. Is Princess Jasmine alright without the bed...? Woodlice Apocalypse
Thanks for finding the link to the 'annoucement' DustyAnd I don't know what Team Human is, but I've come over all Grouch Marx about it  Ok so they're not fragrant but I deffolutely want some Saponaria. I'm on clay so thay should be alright shouldn't they? Presuming I see some that is.
I've just looked for the cheeky <snort> anusol ad for you Farway but apparently I need an account now for ootoob, and they want my phone number etc which isn't a fair swop so you'll have to switch telly on and wait for it to come roundHow was your v healthy lunch of figs cucumbers beetroot and a tom?
If you find a good supply of cheap campervans 2p let me knowOr a Rottery win, whichever. There's one round here that's a beautiful aquamarine/tourquoise-y sort of colour and I want one but it's new and himself says they're properly dear *sigh* 33'c down there is it?! Christ that's a bit much. I'll go out in a minute and do you a rain dance. That's a lovely wee fountain, just right as a soundtrack for a sitooterie
Your salad farm looks good to me, maybe with some gravel in the bottom or a smear of vaseline round the outside to make absolutely sure?
It's raining! Well it's more like the last point between when wet air becomes tiny drizzly raindrops but whatever you call it it's doing it out there. I sprayed the weeds out the front last night because they'd given dry, so it's rained overnight and now whatever this nonsense is  I'm going to work today, again, but when I've finished earning money for the thing that's coming up I'm sacking it off. Possibly just Fridays but possibly the whole thing. I know wosname said the law is a !!!!!!, but yesterday it was a completely unfeeling beast without a stroke of humanity in it, and that doesn't sit right with me. So that's Strike One, 3 strikes and I'm out.
How did the interview go pp? Did you bother going for the fun of it or swerve it altogether?Oh and happy Fómhar everyone (Harvest, Autumn) 👏🏻I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
Sunny day ahead and my back is literally crippling me
, ouch & ouch.
Today will be squirming about on my riser chair thing trying to get "right".One of my better buys 'cos I can raise it to tip me out & uprightFortunately for me, it bucketed down yesterday PM, thunder, the lot, there is no way I could carry watering can today, strictly armchair gardening and maybe find some banal easy watch film2P, your water + salad project, bung some shoots of shop bought watercress in the wee pond, , it'll grow and give you some pickings. I grew it in my pond years back, it has white flowers as well.YoungBlueEyes said:I've just looked for the cheeky <snort> anusol ad for you Farway but apparently I need an account now for ootoob, and they want my phone number etc which isn't a fair swop so you'll have to switch telly on and wait for it to come roundHow was your v healthy lunch of figs cucumbers beetroot and a tom?
My figs were scrumptious, one I seem to have caught just right, oozing with syrupy juice, I've never has one as niceI have two more on the wayThe cucumber was disappointment, crispy etc but had bitterness to it, possibly I left it too long?Beetroot & tom not yet sampled, but here are the pics

Thanks for comments on photos peops; think I preferred the first because of the clouds, and it was less "enhanced" by my (not very high end) phone camera software, which I'm starting to experiment with, annoyingly more (over) complicated than just fiddling with f stops, etc. Anyhow, here's this week's sunflowers, this time at sunset in Evesham (with a little enhancement
