How's your back this morning Farway? You still ouching and owwing? Is it muscular or bone-ular or nerve-ular? Hope you enjoyed your storm btw, she said, without a hint of envy... I don't know about ootoob roolz cos I've never signed up for it. I used to have a look at bits sometimes but it never asked me for details. Now that that's out the window it's one more thing on the Not For Me pile.
Another great pic there Less, very atmospheric. Looks a bit brooding with that church glowering away at you in the background! Fab wall too, I'd have that in a heartbeat
Your buddleia pic almost makes me like them Dusty, look at the wee pink centers on themI deffo vote for Purpledicula
Would you get it past the censors? Mind they do sometimes have a sense of humour - there used to be a horse called Norfolk Enchants that I always backed just because of it's name
Good to hear MrsD's improving, hope yous enjoy Brendon Gardens. I love the colour of the not-your-river, I can almost smell it
Looks just right for wading through, followed by your dogs *happy sigh*
Lol @ taff. Nah it wasn't like that (re the pigs). Well it was a bit like that. Apparently, waay back when, when there wasn't the money to get the police to do their jobs or you didn't have the right surname for them to care, or something, rural folks would police themselves. So the feckless drunkard that's a bit too loving with his daughter, or him that won't stop beating his wife, or the horse thief that won't learn etc would be umm ...rounded up and dealt with. Ahem.
Could you pond go in a different bigger spot 2p? I've never thought of frogs bringing unwanteds in as they're doing their rounds...
I think we'll just escape the normal Autumn weather storm Floris, you battening down that hatches up there pp? I think you made the right move re the interview - if it's not the right job for you you wouldn't to be sailing through the interview and end up getting the job and then having to turn it down. Fingers crossed that your preferred one of the other 3 comes goodAnd did you have good fun filming BG? I'm sure that view over the roofline to the loch looked familiar...
OT 14'c currently, the sobers say, and sunny with it, they wrongly say. I wonder what'll happen with the forecasts then - will Aunty drag the drunkards up to scratch or will the drunkards sink Aunty...?
Anyway, once himself peels his erse outta bed DomNon can begin, and food shopping, and gardening. I wish I could trust him to go food shopping but he just buys cr4p and spends a fortune doing it! I don't care that choc bars are half price, or that you think the fabric softener (which I've never used for years) smells lovely, and who are all those crisps for?! Where's the meat for Sunday and had they no milk in? This is why woman live longer than men. Cos Jesus knows what we put up with and knocks them off earlier to give our heads peaceI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -

Now that that's out the window it's one more thing on the Not For Me pile.My back is slightly easing now, down to 12 / 15 on the ouchometer.I think it's muscular with some nervular chucked in, it's getting on my nerves anyway.I'm using pills beginning with P 'cos I can't have ones beginning Iso due to "conflicts"I've also got some rub on oinkment, it's a pig to applyMore horizontal gardening today, catch up on GW, thanks for grape tip 2P, you know how to wound.Noticed my apples seem to plumping up a bit with the recent rains. Some nice rural photos Dusty, I like that stream, looks ideal for gazing intoI asked Chat for suggestion on your buddleia,"Buddleja biggusdickus purpurea erecta"A vigorous cultivar notable for its enormous stature, royal-purple plumes, and an unfortunate Latin etymology. Especially attractive to butterflies and awkward dinner guests.Yummy toms PP, I like to just pick from a bowl in passing, but nil chance so far this year for meAnd wise move on the job, no point depriving a needy hopeful of an opportunityDustyevsky said:My walking friend now has a posh car, and leaving it in out-of-the way spots is inadvisable. We therefore met at Rosemoor and left it there, on the assumption gardeners are rarely car thieves too.Today's brief was simple: follow a little-known part of the Tarka Trail through ancient farmland to the river and return = 3 miles. Easy!
However, a male chicken-up on the map reading meant a false start, and then a series of "Where's that burgering gate?" double backs kicked in.
I may have asked before, but do you have a map thing on your phone? Could help with male chickens upYoungBlueEyes said:This is why woman live longer than men. Norfolk Enchants! Brilliant, but it's all in the mind. As for OoToob having one's email, or whatever, what's the difference between that and giving it to the Guvmint? If it weren't for Mrs Dusty and her penchants, we'd not have a TV licence.Once she gets her own pension, she can buy it herself, too!
Yes, Mrs Dusty can manage a mile or two now, thanks to modern surgery. She wouldn't be up for yesterday's kind of walking, especially among the livestock, but walking friend is ex-farming, and I've done a bit, so we're reasonably competent at risk-assessment. We always have half an eye on an escape route, too. If it's a public RoW, there shouldn't be any dangerous animals, but there shouldn't be lots of things we come across!
The moorland rivers always seem to run OK, thanks to their sources high in the peat bogs. Peat hasn't been extracted in quantity in recent times, but on both moors there was a lot of (government funded) drainage done to increase farmland. We didn't notice any unusual wildflowers yesterday, but right at the start of our walk, I saw an old friend, attempting to hide an old tractor....

I may have asked before, but do you have a map thing on your phone? Could help with male chickens upI thought men died earlier because they wanted to.Today it's my self seeded early foxglove, nothing notable about it except early & self sownRosemoor has a lot of people coming and going, so it's not like the local common, but I take your point. And the car has 'enhancements.' .e.g. It talks. It even brakes before the driver can react in emergencies.Of course, these things are all fine and dandy while it's relatively new. When it's as old as ours, it will probably have off days when it shouts, "Come and steal me, I've been sitting here for over two hours, and I'm bored!"
Some of us men do the shopping, know how to iron, and program the washing machine correctly. This female secret to a long life is available to all.And yes, friend has a location app, but we were sure of the route, initially. The phone didn't come out until the environment failed to match either the map or the written description.
On the coast, when we got lost back in April, there was no signal at all, and sometimes inland here, it can be intermittent. OK yesterday.
I think your foxglove's lovely. It's not like the bogstandardii ones.

Looks like we'll escape Floris; hope you'll be ok poppy.... Think it's been very dry in Evesham this year, based on visits now and in May, perhaps explaining the lack of molluscan munchers. Anyhow, another rather different wall also in Evesham:

What episode of BG was it, YBE?? How exciting - I'll have to have a look to see if I can spot myself
I keep eating the toms straight off the plant, Farway, like eating sweeties. Lovely foxglove pic.
Dusty, that's a really nice patchwork landscape view, it reminds me of North Yorkshire
We're due 50+mph winds here in Argyll, Less, not good at this time of year. That's a really nice wall - was it a community project??
Could we have a wee bit of your heat, twopenny?? Just enough to warm my bones, please. It's definitely feeling autumnal here at the moment.
I was up early again (4am) and it's pouring down here. Has anyone noticed how the nights are drawing in and the mornings are darker - I'm having to put the lights on in the house. I've already started ordering logs and buying peat waxlings.
There was an amazing cobweb on the street light outside our house on Friday night - if it was a pair of tights it would have been 60 denier, it was so thickI took a rubbish pic and you can sort of see there's a big spider sat in the middle of it. It's a genius location for a cobweb though, with the light attracting plenty of bugs...

I hope your pig-to-apply oinkment is working Farway
If it's muscular would it be to obvious to suggest a hot water bottle...? You could be right about himself doing stuff badly so I don't ask him... I don't ask him to do the shopping any more cos he costs me too much, but he's Chief Pot and Bottle Washer no matter what
I like your foxglove, the insides look they're covered in tiny bee paw prints
That tractor's been sat a while Dusty, it'd prolly come to bits if anyone tried to steal itI wouldn't mind ootoob having my email but they asked for my phone number "for verification"
I've plenty of email addresses cos I struggle keeping them alive, but I've only one phone number and they ain't having it. I'm the reason we have a tv licence too - if it wasn't for BG and Only Connect they could stick it but I love BG and OC. Himself wants to swop it for NitFlex but I don't know if that'd still count, licence-wise. Woohoo for men that can shop/iron/put the washer on :clapping:
Ooh a birthday party 2p, was it good fun?Is that Hateful Son's mum or the other side? Hopefully your heat will break soon cos you've definitely had more than your share!
Jeez that's a some wall LessI love it that there are people like that in the world. What's the arched bit at the top of the pic? Is it a dilapidated something..?
60 denier spider's webIt was Friday's BG pp, the part where they go to a normal person's garden to give you a break from that awful nasal Ruth a change of scenery. It was an English woman on Scotland, Mull iir, and she'd been up there years and done her garden from scratch. Worth the watch.
OT It just rained there for approx 15 seconds and now it's stopped. Plenty more to come, they say, but not 'til this aft, possibly. Currently 14'c, up to 23 later. Here's a pic of my bird's and my own sunflowers. Talk about Spot The Difference.
And my apples - I'm a bit giddy that I have home grown apples!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6
