No time for anything, other than commiserations to Farway today. Get well right soon. But here's a photo of that upright, self-seeded buddleia.Who says you can't get owt fer nowt? Now I need a name.. fortune awaits!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." OT, had a welcome but brief downpour night before last, topped up waterbutts at least... Did someone mention incoming gales on Monday? (the beeb I think), no sign of on drunkards app; on balance think the beeb forecasts are usually more reliable, so not sure how that bodes for forthcoming integration....5

Or maybe you all just think I'm a mad axe murderer pig feeder... Years ago himself used to work on a pig farm and that's where I've got my info from. It was a family farm and back in Ye Olden Dayes they used to err... make full use of the pigs
#TimesWere'Ard #NoJudgement Anyway. Is Princess Jasmine alright without the bed...? Woodlice Apocalypse
Oh and happy Fómhar everyone (Harvest, Autumn) 👏🏻Oh my god that makes it worse! I just have visions of great granny being gently herded to the pig enclosure with mutterings of 'T'aint right no funeral but we don't have the pennies' or something in the background...And someone else going, 'But she always did love Gertie the Pig, she'd have wanted to go that way feeding the babbies'Lovely figs too Farway!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -

How about 'Evski's Erect'? Better, but still missing a certain je ne sais quoi.
Perhaps I should leave my moniker out altogether?'Purpledicula' works, but only at a certain level.
It's quite a nightmare!I was walking today, hence the brief appearance this morning. My walking friend now has a posh car, and leaving it in out-of-the way spots is inadvisable. We therefore met at Rosemoor and left it there, on the assumption gardeners are rarely car thieves too.
Today's brief was simple: follow a little-known part of the Tarka Trail through ancient farmland to the river and return = 3 miles. Easy! However, a male chicken-up on the map reading meant a false start, and then a series of "Where's that burgering gate?" double backs kicked in. Detours made the final length a smidgen under 5 miles.
We braved a bull, (couchant) cows with calves (wide detour for them!) and the usual horse flies, but a farmer actually waved as we admired the natural spring, surrounded by day lilies and fuchsias, in his yard. I don't think he'd had many walkers through recently, and as the bull was next, maybe he didn't expect to see us again!
We returned about an hour later, having just heard several shots as we passed through a wood, so we talked loudly but still saw no one.
Walking in the non-touristy bit of Mid-Devon's like that. Gates, wired-up, 'lost' signs, lots of grumpy-looking animals, and, possibly, a person. The farmer was the only soul we saw, and he was climbing off his Gator 100m away.Maybe a photo to follow....However, nothing remarkable seen; just loads of ripe blackberries and huge numbers of butterflies, indicating a good year for nature, whatever the frog climate boilers say."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Busy, busy. Still reading though.
I withdrew my application, YBE. It wasn't the job for me and I'd have felt guilty going for the interview with no intention of accepting the job if offered. I've got three applications in for jobs that I'm qualified to do, so fingers crossed I get one of them.
I bought what I thought were some pinks this morning (Aldi £2.99) but when I got home the label says Sweet Williams?? Are they the same as pinks?? Your butterfly pic reminded me of a local GC advertising buddleias 2 for £20, which I thought was a bit steep, Dusty?? There were white ones and pink ones, as well as bog standard purple.
Lovely photos, everyone. I've got one of a bowl of tomatoesI've got two indoor plants, gifted by lovely neighbour, and they've been amazing this year. The tomatoes are only small, but lovely and sweet, I've had probably 25-30 so far and loads more to come.
Thanks for the giggles, twopenny, you said something yesterday/the other day that made me snortHope your back eases soon, Farway. Waves to everyone else and tries not to think about pigs.... I think it's wine'o'clock now...

Pic of yummy tomatoes, taken on Sunday and all now scoffed…

All sounds positive Poppy, fingers crossed.
Though my experience is that the jobs you're perfectly qualified for are the ones you don't get and the ones you really aren't and shouldn't be let near they are desperate to have you.
Wasn't it hot walking Dusty? It's been exhausting today again.
Hmmm plants in ponds. It's sooo tiny even though it's the same size as the pot.
I may try and extend it come autumn though will only be a tad because there are so many plant roots. Better time to visit the faraway GC where they have pond plants.
But the frogs bring in unwanted stuff from wherever they've been.
Fairway, Monty just said cut back your grapes to 50 or so bunches 😄
Ducking and hard hat on,..................I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

I forgot to say, we're due to be hit by Storm Floris on Monday, Less. 60-70mph winds when the trees are in full leaf is not going to be fun...
I think we're in for a nice day today, so some weeding of the jungle will be happening and I'll have to find somewhere to put the wee plants I bought yesterday.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
twopenny said:Wasn't it hot walking Dusty? It's been exhausting today again.Nothing extreme. It was cloudier than predicted and a brisk wind prevailed. I was fine in a polo shirt, and the pessimistic car said17c, so pretty good for walking. We're not getting much of Storm Floris here, allegedly. Tomorrow should see some rain, which I won't steal from you, since it's coming from the NW. Mrs Dusty and I will be up your way today, though, garden visiting. Last year she couldn't cope with the Brendon gardens, but she'll be OK now.Good to hear from you, pp. I thought you'd been quiet.
Your toms look happy wee chaps. Mrs D and I agree 'Cherry Falls' are the best of the 'stick it in a big pot and forget' toms we've grown, though we've staked them a little, and fed.
Here's a photo or two from yesterday. As you can see, still plenty of green in our landscape. That's a rough common in the foreground and Dartmoor in the distance. And here's the happy bull, surrounded by his harem and some younger guys:Considering it was part of the Tarka Trail, albeit an offshoot, there was a lack of maintenance. This small bridge was past its 'use by' date! The Dartmoor rivers seem to be reasonably full. Our local one, coming from neither moor, is just a trickle."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7
