Happily I am now also a Forumite, and can post links and images. The email finished with "Thanks for sticking around"  :/

Good to hear your back's improving Farway, and that you got a bit of rain.. Speaking of names - there's an auld fellah I see sometimes on my walk to work (his garden is a stunner but he has box blight). Turns out he was something big in the horticultural world, teaching and lecturing and stuff. Ah is that right, will I have heard of you..? No but you might of heard of once of my students. I don't follow any of the slebs but go on then, try me. He said Matthew Pottage. I made ooh ahh how about that etc type noises, then looked him up last night when I got in from work. I think at least one of us will have heard of him....

    I don't know who's more amusing - Canute or the Throne-sitter
A born-again Forumite, eh? Hallelujah!  o:)  I see the 'technical problems' info box is missing at the top of the page, so maybe granting some folks free, unfettered access, has been the solution? Quite a trend at present.  ;)
Matthew Pottage? I wonder if his school nickname was 'Mess?' (Biblical reference there!) He's something in the RHS that involves bright clothing.
Unfortunately, neither neighbour amuses me sufficiently to cancel out the various hassles they've caused. The guy has a perfect right to place a bench anywhere on his land, but within the context of previous intimidation, his staring is slightly unsettling. :/
Our current neighbour situation isn't particularly good. Among them, 7 properties have been for sale over the past year, and only the farm has sold. Several conclusions may be drawn from that statistic, but I'm not spelling them out!  :D
It's possible the tree in molerat's post was subject to a local agreement, with a private contractor. We're a large county, and if a big tree comes down on a road here, a local person with the right qualifications and insurance will do the initial clear-up to get traffic flowing.
I hope today's photo won't cause too much stress. o:)  It's a butterfly spotted on what I think is an Inula at the second garden we visited. I didn't recognise it. Having done a little research, I've an idea of what it might be now, but it would be interesting to find out what others think.

OT: A much calmer morning and, I'm told, rather cloudy, but there's unbroken sunshine at present. I expect the cloud will 'bubble-up,' as they say, later.  B)  I hope everyone's aches & pains are moderating. The old knees have given me some bother this week, thanks to a new exercise regime that will, allegedly, strengthen them!  :*

Way behind your posts again , work weekend and all. Floris rained whilst I was working, but it was mainly wind, came home to large pots blown over , my Acer in one and Hydrangea in another !
Had to be up early yesterday to take dgson to big city dental hospital. Very windy just a couple of light showers.

YBE your garden is coming on a treat, the honeysuckle is impressive too. I could have carried on your theme with whiskers on kittens , but his lordship wasn’t deigned to come home from his nighttime rambles yet.

Dusty your friends garden is wonderful, lots of colour there. The guard dogs with the geraniums is a pretty spot too.
Farway hope you are walking more upright now.

2 p that’s a cute fluffy baby bird you have there, well done feeding the parents, you must be like the proud grandma.
Pp glad you are safe and sound after the storm.

Awake at 5am today the curse of doing early shifts your body still wakes early on your days off😮‍💨 just been to peg out and a skein of geese has honked past, heard a few lately. The little swifts/ housemartins birds are swooping round in the evenings now too.

Oo Dusty forgot to ask, what are the tall yellow flowers in the middle pic, are they penstemon?
A hypothetical question if I got some agapanthus seed stuck to my coat ,would they need to be dry before they come off the plant or could I dry them at home? Also are they easy to grow, I.e. can I just throw them in the garden.
As out of the 4 packs of seed from lidl I got 2 spindles of cornflowers.

I also acquired a pale pink / white hydrangea, I need to find a home for .Also  2 lollipop olive trees. Do they like to be in pots? The pots they are in are quite small do I need to repot to get the best from them.

Yes, I had one that kept on giving. It was enormous 😲
Kept it going for a good 3yrs.
Never found one to do that since.

    Another sunny dry day.
My box hedging is suffering badly from box moth as there are no birds around to eat them.
Things are beginning to struggle now even with watering.
    Me too 😟

I'm not sure which flowers you mean, but the yellow ones in the lawn pictures are Evening Primroses. All the other yellow flowers are daisies compositae of different sorts. The tallest might be perennial sunflowers.
The only agapanthus seed I've had success with has been collected in September/October when mature and black. They take an age to do anything useful, like flower! I don't think they'll grow, scattered in the garden.  :|:Olive trees survive in pots here, but often lose leaves in winter. We have one in what I'd say is a 15 litre pot.
    HTH  :)

Looking like life is picking up here, sun's out but a bit cool

My back is getting much better, down to about 5/15 on the ouchometer and Para+++ is no longer the snack of choice. Slow but upright walking has resumed.
And, Ta Ra, car sailed though MOT  :) , a few rusty bits advisories but that's standard for a 2006 car
I forked out for an oil / filters change & expert eye check over of bits I can no longer check, while at it.
    All good
I use a family local firm, his daughter cleaned & hoovered the car, no sculling about during the School hols for her, and free icing on the cake, they even put the car clock to BST. ! :D

Another one of my claims to fame, I've tripped, not literally, over MP at Wisley, he was Head Honcho there and IMO made big improvements to the place, including adding labels to the trees / shrubs
Sometimes he was just wandering about, a bit like we do in our gardens, other times I've seen him shepherding the GW team or Big Wigs around, cameras etc
    He was sometimes on GQT
He always acknowledged my " 'Morning" so that's a good sign in my world

Welcome to the Forumite club :)

Farway, hope your lamp and back are now together again..seperately though. We don't have a licence. I refuse to, there's so much on the net who needs to pay? Lovely canna, saw one today, greatly admired by friend...BTW, I went and registered some houses in case that happens !

Also picked up a six pound thornless blackberry from the Big D today,

Lamp still in bits, once back is reet good I'll sort the lamp
Happy to have helped re house registration, unless it was pointed out one would think such a scam was not possible.

What variety is the thornless blackberry Taff?

Seeing your results I'm tempted to bung a fig into the ground, I know it'll go daft
If I was sound of limb & back, I'd put it in place of my useless hard red pear

Well done Mrs D giving Throne Man a wave.

With the improved back & fresh MOT I trundled to Morries this morning, usual half dead selection but there is a clearance sale of compost & grow bags on, plus some fertilisers & weedkillers, only some, not all.
I was tempted with compost, but wise head & bad back said No

Had to get watering, even though I can't carry a watering can, I used a 2L milk bottle for emergency watering of a wall basket
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

Pheeeewwwww! Not just the muggy weather.
I went to look at the price of pots as they are selling off geraniums cheap at Morrisons. A big pot £50.
    No offers on compost 😟
GC the price is the same as before but a third or more less for your money.

Plant lady back, seems she has composted the dead and hopeless so there's not a lot left.

The GC has pond plants. I got excited till I saw they were £30+ and a tiny water lilly is £50 😢

    Wow 2p those are expensive.

warm with a breeze today, so the washing is dried and away. Filled the green bin again, Osmanthus, spirea, eunonymus, and choisya all cut right down as much as I could manage, also trimmed the hypericum.
just repainted the 2 wooden planters and the garage door. I’ve had a shower so I won’t do any more.

I think it's a Wall - (having consulted my Pocket Guide to British Butterflies) - we've had one here once or twice, but not seen one this year, or last.... Did spot a (probable) Small Skipper today, took only a v poor fuzzy photo, and it could be an Essex Skipper, but how anyone is supposed to be able to see whether the underside of the knobble on the antenna is red or black without a microscope (and incapacitated specimen) boggles the mind... Lots of Peacocks about in brief sunny spell as well :-)
