Morning all
I was on yesterday morning before work but it wouldn't let me turn the page. It wasn't a bit bothered whether I'm human or not, it just wouldn't let me play, citing something about Vanilla. Seem alright today though.
Dusty your pics look like you've mown a lavender field ha haa! Your Gatekeeper is beautiful captured, you can see every hair. We've a lot more flutterbys round here too, seems like they collectively decided to just go for it. I'll read the bin thing carefully after this. Or I'll maybe just go on our council website. If it's gonna be an erseache I'll just get composting, or get a hotbin like gb says. Research required. You got cut+baled in 3 daysBluddy nora! They've cut up here but not baled yet. The driers must be pulling their hair out!
York (and all the roads round it actually) are a maelstrom of a hot mess at the best of times pp, brave of you to goYour beach pics look much more appealing, especially the horses one. I can't work out where your wind farm is.... I would've said Dogger Bank but did you come that far...? Look at your diddy wee ice-cream! I didn't know they made them that small
Woohoo for an accepted offer for DD
Has probate been applied for/granted?
Your first lily pic is a beauty Farway, that's definitely cherry-flavoured. And the Tree Lily is mango flavoured for sure *nodding* Hooray for da yoofs being officially Marvelous and Clever. Cyber security computer something something is what Beloved Cousin's son does, and he loves it.
Welcome @tinahInteresting about you having so many bins. I'm in east yorks and we've only 3. It'll please a lot of people that they're rolling out a more unified plan, and that is seems to be working ok
Ooh ripe apricots 2p! They finally came good :clapping: "...so I just swam in the sparkles" - that is the best line I've read all yearYour toma are looking healthy too, are they the Honey Crunch ones?
Have a good air-con'd wedding wortFingers crossed your DD's house. 2 years is excessive, mind - what's the holdup?!
Not At Work today, even though I was asked yesterday. Well she asked me at 1659 so I said no for badness. Tbh that office is unbearably hot, and with the heat rising today I couldn't have done it. It was 38' in there yesterday and it wasn't even a hot sunny daySo I've the weeding done, birds fed, the house all open to let the humidity in, and that might be as much as I accomplish today. Might actually get sat with a book, if I can find one about cold wet places to take my mind off the heat that they're all certain will be here today. 17'c currently with a high of 29' to come, but the feels like will be 31' and not a cloud up there
I hope you suvveners are all alright today.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.9 -
Everywhere is brown and parched looking where we are now, but we’re further inland than Scarborough, Dusty. I must admit I hadn’t noticed the fallen leaves in Peasholm Park, it was just the pigeon on top of the Japanese sculpture I thought was funny. Love the tractor pics, btw.
I don’t think there’s a ruling about working when the temperature soars, YBE, but there blooming should be - 38 degrees is intolerable 🥵 Well done you for saying no to working today. The turbines pic was Redcar - home of the Pacitto’s lemon top ice cream - the very best, imo 😁 The bottom snapped off my cone when I was eating it, so I made the mini lemon top for you 😂 I was most disappointed that Pacitto’s in Scarborough isn’t there anymore. No idea about probate?? When we were viewing the house with DD she casually mentioned that they’d made an offer on it and it had been accepted, so it was probably just as well that we liked it 😂
Home today, via the cemetery in North Ayrshire, so a very long, hot and sticky drive ahead of us. It’ll probably take 7-8 hours and that’s if there’s no hold ups… ☹️'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -
Bins - that seems like a right lot of jobsworthness faff for almost no advancement. We have 3 bins here 1) recycling, 2) garden + food waste which is in those lovely silky compostable bags, and 3) everything for landfill. So they're splitting the recycling to separate the card + paper from the rest of it. Hmmm. I thought the computer-controlled grabber things already did that. Well they said it did when they started it....
Safe journey back today pp btw, I hope you get back to good weather
Question. When half-heartedly looking at houses on MightMove, does anyone else make the garden the priority then decided if you can live with the house...? Prolly asking the wrong people here like, but anyway. I've seen some fab gardens that come with houses, but himself thinks I'm a crazy person. He's only acting the maggot cos I said The Wrong Thing to him yesterday and he's sulking. They got finished work early so he washed my car bless him. It was a smeary mess but he was stood there grinning from ear to ear, and I said... Right, and what did you wash it with - ice-cream?!So now he's on one about houses with a garden -v- gardens that come with a house. I know my parameters aren't the normal ones but still.
OT house closed up, 22' and scorchio.
Anybody sat in today looking for something to do - try the PropertyPal app/website. It's the Irish version of MightMove, and puts it to shame frankly. They have a much wider range of filters, and there's no ads or signup nonsense. You can just use it.
Edit - I didn't refresh and missed your post pp. I didn't guess Redcar but I should have really, it being the home of the lemontopRe probate, ask DD to ask the estate agent to ask the sellers if + when probate has been applied for, if it was online or paper version, and if it's been granted. The online ones are coming back in a few weeks, but the paper applications are stuck in the logjam and taking about a year ish, bit less maybe. Absolutely get that nailed down before she starts shelling out any money on surveys and solicitors etc. I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice etc.

Yes indeedie. I look at the plan of the house but it's the garden that is equally, maybe more important.
Just been cheeky and snuck round a couple of empty properties. The one that's nice inside has ok views but there's a couple with 4 tiny totally untrained dogs that you can hear through double glazing 😬
The one some developer made a hash of when I was looking last time and is dubious build has fabulous views from front and back. Used to be a pretty garden and could be again.
Trouble is no cheap plants now with nurseries closed and Morrisons gone to seed. They're actually selling dead plants because there's no one to tend them.
All shut in here with doors open and covered with survival blankets.
Feeling icky !!!!!! after yesterday heat. Last night 24c in the house. Even the beach isn't cold. May have to go and sit in a supermarket.
Book and ice creams on hand. Garden watered last night.
Today it's already 25c in the shade. But at the moment a cool breeze 🤞
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Up early, even spotted what I assume was Venus, Morning StarIt's boiling hot & I'm exhausted alreadyGreat Scarborough pics PP, and harvest from Dusty, I can almost feel the hot dryness just looking at the hayHope your homeward journey was at least bearable PPBack in house hunting days, it was garden as a big deciding factor for me, but by coincidence the last move was at the time of rampant gazumping. So limited options after a couple of gazumps & lost legal fees, bird in the hand etc.Out to feed & water the front pots first thing, it was hot even then, about seven. But with more heat for the next few days, I thought I'd get it done.Just sent off for Tomorite, from the River shop, 2.5l for £9, normally over £13 most places. Delivery not for a week or so, but I can wait. Also had seaweed Maxicrop fertiliser on offer, so I'll try some on my poor composttwopenny said:Trouble is no cheap plants now with nurseries closed and Morrisons gone to seed. Thanks for that, YBE, I’ve copied it and sent it over to my DD, fingers crossed that it’s the online version.
We’re currently stuck in traffic at Penrith - 27 degrees in the car 🥵
Stay cool everyone.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -

I'm sitting on my sofa with the persperation dripping off.
Been in the car, forced to, I don't envy you.
Have you got the back and side windows open? Makes a heck of a difference. Old school better than aircon.
32c here. 28c in the shade. I'm taking the camera onto the moor with the car windows as said.
Then back down to the sea for a night time plunge. May have to take the walking stick in with me but I'm doing it!
Teens think it's (nice) funny 😄I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Hopefully you’re near home now pp
You’re very welcome re the advice, and I’m still not a lawyer etc. Also, mention to DD to do it all by email, no phone calls whatsoever. Some EAs are filthy lying pigdogs who’ll say anything on the phone - christ the things I could tell ya! 😲
Might have a think and see if I can strip out some of the stories actually and put them on here…
OT - am beyond mafted, it’s properly fackin’ scorchio 🥵 ☹️I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6
