Tried to get on early, but site was down for me.
Main news: hay is baled. That's cut & baled in 3 days flat! Never done that before.

Gorgeous lily, Farway.
Congratulations on the apricots and tomatoes, twopenny, hopefully worth waiting for.
Yay to the hay bales, Dusty. Are they sausage rolls??
Forecast to be another warm day today - I was awake at 4am with cramp - think I’m dehydrated. Scarborough today and it was 21 degrees the last time I looked. I’m praying for a seabreeze.
We passed Fylingdales and the Hole of Horcum last night after our conversation the other week. The sun was in the wrong place to get a pic of the H of H, but I took this pic of Fylingdales through the car window… am I allowed to take pics of it?!
My favourite pic from yesterday - I love to see horses on the beach…

Good luck for the wedding, wort, hope the air con works.
My DD has had an offer accepted on a house. It’s a probate one and I’m now hoping it doesn’t take 2 years like your DD’s 😳'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -
No time, but I can, at least, post a picture....
lovely to see so many, suddenly about. Last year was a disaster!

Beautiful picture Dusty! What detail!
Yes we have a lot here which is nice to see.
Seem to have missed a lot of your posts judging by comments. Hopefully it will be righted soon.
Love the horse photo Poppy.
Farway that's one beautiful lilly 🙂 one perfect one is better than none.
Perhaps print photos of it and tie them onto the plant.
Off to buy gutter brushes. Neighbour has not cleaned her gutters since son moved in. I dida bit it last year so it didn't run into mine but not making a habit of itI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It was over 3 years late, but early enough for the next big storm.
!'m still mowing. It's allegedly 28c out there! I want 2 of pp's ice cream thingies and 2p's apricots to follow, but I'll have to settle for a cup of tea.
I keep telling Mrs Dusty this heat is dangerous for elderly people, like me, but will she listen?

Many congratulations Farway that's brilliant.
You must be so proud 🤩
Ladybird books were brilliant. I bet kids would still love them today, fancy gadgets don't give you imagination.
Too hot here again. Was reading 35c in the sun and shade high 20s.
I love sun and warmth but this is relentless.
I'm not convinced with the brushes but it's worth a try. Enough to make a point if neighbours gutter overflows 😈
Neighbour in posh place down the road has it round and he has white to match.
If not I'll stick the gutter netting in.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Lovely flutter by pic, Dusty.
Congratulations to DGD and DGS, Farway.
High 20s here too, twopenny 🥵 slightly cooler in Scarborough though, especially when we were whizzing around in a speedboat 😁
Another lemon top ice cream was consumed, but not as good as yesterday’s.
A couple of pics. The white stripe in the night sky is the ISS going over last night. Peasholm Park and beautiful clouds over Scarborough beach… 💙

Looks as if your DGCs have chosen carefully, Farway. Those are professions that should continue to see plenty of action!
Mind you, the way AI's going, maybe it's the way to clear the huge backlog of legal cases.
Some might actually prefer it to trial by the bought & paid for media!
That cirrus sky over Scarborough is something to behold pp! The number of leaves shed in Peasholm Park suggests there have been abnormally dry conditions there too. We are just seeing similar indications here.twopenny said:Ladybird books were brilliant. I bet kids would still love them today, fancy gadgets don't give you imagination.Ours came from a charity shop, so it was actually in German, but that mattered not to a child who hadn't learned to read English! Our first DD could point to things before she could even say their names. Sadly, our second DD couldn't.In fact, it was the lack of appreciation with books which alerted us to her visual impairment. She could get around OK, but until she had specs at 18 months, books were something of a mystery.
There was nothing terribly wrong with the Ladybird books for early readers, apart from implied meanings within them, now lampooned by the series for adults:https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/how-it-works-the-mum-jason-hazeley/573264?aid=4395&ean=9780718184216As you say, books are powerful tools to develop imagination. I lost count of the children who told me our class novels were 'rubbish,' when made into films which jarred against their mental versions!Catching up with my photo news. Following the cut, the hay was turned only a couple of times using a tractor-mounted spinner. Then, on Wednesday, the spinner was set to form the dry hay into ridges ready for the contractor with the baler. As you can just about see, we were ahead of the neighbouring farm by one day. They're still just turning theirs. The baler soon gobbled-up the lines of hay:We only got 15 bales this year. That's probably thanks to not overwintering sheep, as we usually do. Last year it was 22 bales. No sheep poo. You don't get owt fer nowt!
