I've a couple of suggestions for the dog poo border.
Pebbles they don't like cause they can't get their balance.
I bought but haven't used this from Poundland. You pop the plastic foliage off and its a spiky grid, the sort Amazon sell in large pricey lengths.
You bury it just below the soil. You can blunt the spikes further with scissors.
The spikes don't do any damage but it's uncomfortable to walk on.

twopenny said:Dusty I'm not opening that link. You find stuff I wish I could have and can't.Never mind, you have a wonderfully pretty double poppy.
According to Less, it will eventually collapse in a soggy heap all over your strawbs, but nothing's forever.
If it's any consolation, I wouldn't want to live in the house linked to, nice though it is.
Farway said:Busy weekend Dusty, but at least it's reasonable weather.Once upon a time, hard work outside in Devon used to require flagons of cider to refresh the workers. Maybe not these days with machinery, or everyone would be like Long John Silver.Looks a long term challenge with plenty of scope there. Ideal for a few sticky geraniums.DD 2 has her own gardening ideas, but she appreciates geraniums. Cutting them back now means an almost certain second flush of flowers.
Poked my head over the fence and spotted one neighbour has a wild bit of lawn with a great display of 'Fox & Cubs' (Pilosella aurantica)I thought they seeded everywhere, but there's none in DD's new garden.

Hope everyone is well
Well we've had no sun, valley was like a snow globe this morning, couldn't see the tops of the hills, it rained all morning then dried up. Same story yesterday, is warm but somewhat sticky.
30 is too hot for me anyway, 20-25 with a few clouds and a gentle breeze is good.
Brilliant blue skies are a bit boring for photos too, this was a couple of weekends ago which I think is far more interesting.

No useful advice to offer on dog poo border, except maybe to plant small bushes (if I can use the b word again) - such as lavender, sage, rosemary, which wouldn't mind the poor soil, and would form a deterrent barrier?Really just popped on to post a pic I took today on our Sunday morning walk, for all the turbine-appreciators on here. Rather a distant view I'm afraid...These particular turbines are somewhat controversial, as, though they have been in situ for c. 5 years, they have yet to generate any electricity... They are located near Llandegley International Airport...Your poppy is a nicer colour than mine 2P... Re. the Fox and Cubs, we have quite a lot here, they seem to establish best in short grass and/or poor soil, so may just have been swamped by the overgrown "lawn", and might (re)appear in DD's grass with a bit more management...8

Ah that's what it is!
I saw it growing on lawns where I walk along with a bright yellow mat forming plant. So pretty. By the time I got there with a camera they cut the grass.
The fox and cub also closes up in the evening which doesn't help.
I'm definitely becoming converted. So much nicer than just green and food for the insects.
Thanks for posting that.

Wow, just refreshed and saw your amazing sky lunatic... 2P I think the white flowers in Dusty's photo are clover... I was wondering about the purpley-blue one - selfheal?7

Wow Luna 😲 that is an incredible shot! How beautiful.
Now I've got to go and recreate it because that would be a winner in our photography group.
Less, what a stunning place you live. Shame about the turbines but they can be zapped 😉
Good spot there. My tablet isn't good enough to see it but enlarging... could be. It's very prolific round here.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You can click Dusty's link 2p. It's pretty on the outside, and in a better spot than the last one, but I'd not want that one either. They've stripped the soul out of it, and the epc is a bit low
So you've still a houseful then Dusty? Will kitchen be redone dreckly?I've Fox&Cubs out the front and they do seed everywhere. Is yoofs on the right side for the wind to do the job...?
We've had some grand drying days here too wort. I've washed everything in sight and I've been eyeing up the curtains but I need them up to keep the heat out ha haa!
Nice to hear Stinky is doing well gb. A bit of a run probably keeps the edge off him, poor wee soul. When will his stitches get taken out, or are they dissolving ones?
I like your very full poppy 2p, the colours are sort of bleeding into each other. Lovely.
Is anybody working on vapourising equipment Farway? Maybe superstar GD can add it to her listOoh - what about some crime scene tape zigzagged about DP border?
Jeez Luna that's an astonishing photo
Less did they forget to build the turbines with an 'ON' switch?
Bit of a bitty post this morning. The neighbour (singular) is being a prique, not that I'm sleeping well in all this heat anyway, so I'm all upset in myself. But I'm not for sitting here with my erseyness all day so I think I'll take it into workI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
Sunny & hot already, clear blue, uninteresting, skyActually one spot of interest in the sky, the gulls are circling like vultures, so I guess today is flying Ant Day.Did try for a photo, but harder than it would appear to be. Especially with my balance, head too far back & my gryros topple.Cracking photo Luna. And Less, even if the turbines are NBG for now.I was out watering first thing, front & back, with heat forecast to stay I want to try & keep on top of it if possible.Caught up with GW, honestly some gardens are more like public parks, not sure just how relevant they are, nice to look at but so is Hampton Court palace. One crumb of solace, Monty's garlic rottedYoungBlueEyes said:Bit of a bitty post this morning. What's the white stuff? Campion?
Bluey may be partially right about restrictions on wind spreading the seed. There's a 10' laurel hedge and then a high wall.Luna's photo is certainly a competition winner, even if it has a malevolent air to it.OT:No sunshine or staggeringly hot temperatures here, yet, for what I predict will be a quiet day to follow the busy weekend.Looking in the picture bank, I've come up with this piece of art, being one of about 35 concrete ornaments and containers DD2 got with the house. Some are useful or desirable, but this one's in a class all of its own!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8
