I did toy with the idea of looking at AI for the letter and I must admit to using a couple of phrases for my application form, but changing them to my own words/interpretation.AI, it can be OT but sounds like you used it sensiblyWM. sounds awful with complaints, and as charity the money could be better spent I'm sure.Working_Mum said:So you guys have kept me motivated and balanced this week. Lol WM, you mean my revenge on my neighbour doesn't count 😄
His mother won't take him to account so someone has to let him know he can't have the life of Riley all his own way.
Ditto, at the back someone is still causing havoc but thankfully have left mine alone now with a big notice saying private property.
Busy this morning but hope to get to yet more pruning later.
Slug nibbles on my runner beans. I had hoped to get them up the poles while it's dry but hey ho, they are determined beggars so hopefully they will recover.
Roses not flowering, they will save themselves till it cools down I hope.
Warming up after a really chilly night. Hopefully have time later to post something more useful.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Perhaps that acccounts for the number of numpties around these days, contact wasn't made. They're all aliensSheesh it's hot!!!!!!! And airless despite the breeze with all windows and doors open.Managed to mow the lawn this evening, trim the edges and deadhead. Even painted the cleaned bird table. The pigeon and blackbird looked hopeful but I need to pigeon proof it. A seagull has been trying his luck too. Managed to get rid of the wire holding the fat block on so radical changes need to be made.Nice side is I think a Dunock is nesting in the rampant Jasmine that I wanted to trim. Saw him/her looking so happy with a large feather in it's beak and there's rustling in that neck of the woods. It's just above the bird box which it's managed to ignoreOh and looking for somewhere on Rightmove, there is a property going for a good price with a black greenhouse

I don't think they'd tell us mere mortals even if they had made contact, dive...
W_M, sorry you're going through some tough times with your charity. Some people are just shameless.
I love your lily, Farway. I even like how it looks from the side because it reminds me of raspberry ripple ice cream. I bet the scent will be gorgeous when it hits.
The Latin name for the weed is Lapsana Communis - you'll probably roll your eyes when you see what it means - it just made me laugh (the schoolgirl humour strikes again)
We watched The Detectorists a few months ago and it was a nice gentle series.
Hope you managed to get your pruning done, twopenny.
Edit - just refreshed. Hope you do have Dunnocks nesting - they're feisty but sweet birds and the babies are gorgeous.
It's been pouring down pretty much all day here, so nothing doing in the garden - just a lazy day after yesterday's brain numbing job applications...'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -
Just a quick word before I try to get some more shut eye........ Greased pole v rat.......works a treat 😄
How do you know about baby Dunnocks Poppy? How do you tell one? The parents are so tiny you must need a magnifying glass for the babies.
Seems to have rained overnight but not enough. I was hoping for a good downpour what with the cloud and oppressive heat.
Today's job, pot watering.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It will be all tractors.I wonder if you can guess where we started from?

I wouldn't mind but his complaint is completely fabricated....If it helps, we now see this episode more positively as a learning experience. It made us study complex laws, and how best to steer a path through them. We also discovered interesting things about our local history. Most important of all, we know now who are true friends, and who will simply go wherever the wind blows.
-taff said:Is there a difference bewteen smells of the coloured and white valerian? I chopped up a root of the red/pink one and transplanted it to the font garden because I like it. The white one looks lovely though although I seem to remember someone telling me it's different for growing somehow or maybe I don't remember that bit clearly.I'm not sure of any differences. The white predominates in the hedges here. It began to get out of control by the stream, so it was reduced, but not eliminated. Like meadowsweet, the insects love it, but the latter needs more light than it can receive down there.
I couldn't tell if your tomato supports were metal or some interesting kind of cord, but metal is brilliant and should last a lifetime.Regarding how we grow the hay crop for someone else, it's just a mutual agreement made via a friend. Nothing on paper. In the country, most folks know who owns the fields and farms around them, and there's a lot of cooperation with matters like sharing resources, including the contractor who does the baling.
pink_poppy said:I don't think they'd tell us mere mortals even if they had made contact, dive....I liked The Detectorists too. Back in the dark ages, I detected in some great locations, but never found anything of great importance.OT: After yesterday's heat, when paddling was good for sore feet, we had a grey night with another small helping of rain. Today, it's still cloudy and humid so far, but the Exeter dipsomaniacs are telling me we're enjoying sunshine. This will last till lunchtime. Then, in true 80s style, it'll fade to grey. We may hit 21c, and with no more predicted rain in sight, hay may be made. Grass will certainly be cut where I'll be....but that's for tomorrow.

I've DomNon done but I'm going food shopping after this before the heat really builds. It's 22' here already fgs
Yep Dusty that estate is sans aqua, sadly. A lake would do but really I want an actual shoreline. A whole one, private, and even about a mile long would do it. In a bay would be ideal, bit of privacy about it. Is that too much to ask? Thalictrum is a looker eh?
I imagine the country dealings are a bit of all the things you describe taff. You'll find the fixer in the pub and do handshakes over a pint  Scabious - thank youI've 2 but I don't know where they came from and I'm not sure if I like them. They're too big and floppy where they've decided they want to grow, and there's a third wee one trying it's luck behind my Swish Rose.
We like Gone Fishin in this house pp, Paul + Bob + TedPosh Friend put me on to that, it's one of her favourites.:) I can assure you the golf balls weren't listening to you, but I know what you mean. When we were little daddy would tell us not to look at them because they were looking and listening and recording everything "and that's how they'll find you when you've been bad"
It's a wonder me and sis aren't in nuthouses fgs
Sorry you're going through the wringer wm, some people are just erseholes the whole way through. Hopefully your strategy is successful :fingerscrossed: Gardening with R0meo is the best plan
The Detectorists, thanks Farway, we'll add that to the listYour lily is a belter! I reminds me of rasp ripple ice-cream
Robots applying and being rejected by robots is a bit of a worry tbh. Are they heuristic now? That's the line, in my mind.
I love that you're the moral force of your neighbourhood 2p and good news your one over the back is playing nicely nowDon't curse your chilly nights, you'll be hankering after one soon if the weatherman can be believed.... Were you also at the dentist/hairdressers/full of lurgy...? Hopefully you've a gobful of great teeth/beautifully coiffered /back in rood health
Aww wee dunnocks in your jasmine, carefully ignoring your bird box. I don't know which half of that sentence I like better
I wonder if they made contact Dive... ring em and ask. You never know, you might catch them offguard with your frankness and they'll give you an honest answer
Here is this week's absolutely solid legal advice. When you're going through conveyancing, there is a whole process with lots of stages that ends in exchange and completion. You absolutely should not decide it's all taking too long, you don't see what the hold up is, pack up all your stuff and go and sit outside your new house that's 100+ miles away because this is the weekend you want to move and you've already hired a bluddy big van. No your solicitor will not be able to "GET IT SORTED NOW!!", and no it is not a police matter. No your solicitor cannot go round and evict the tenants you decided to move into your old house the day you moved out, nor will they foot the hotel bill you'll probably have to incur. This is all A Very Bad Idea. Do Not Try This At Home.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
Evidence that cherries do continue to ripen after picking - they seem to be sweeter too, so not just colouring up 🙂All picked (mostly by blackbird, the last few anyhow, and puppy...there are low branches...). Pruned the tree a bit ayesterday in pleasantly breezy sun, with lots of altocumulus lacunosus clouds overheadSun and clouds were replaced by a thick layer of stratus, then drizzle, for late afternoon and evening so retreated to greenhouse to tie up toms and cucs and tend to seedlings. And here is my fancy poppy - another volunteer which has been here since we arrived and pops up all over the veg plot especially, where it is particularly annoying when the petals drop en masse...wouldn't mind it so much in other places...not particularly keen on the colour either8
