Welcome back Abs, apple and celearic soup was being made on the telly last night and it was said to be delicious.Congrats on getting ahead in the garden.Would love to know what the flavour of the red flowering strawberries is like if you can remember by then
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Ooh teasels Dusty, I like teasels. And the only way I'd pay all that much for some rotting scrap is if it came with the field it's stood in. I mean how muckin' fuch?! I'm sure I've dug all those bits outta my garden, maybe twice over
That's a cracking image of HMS Warrior at sunset Farway, you'd never get sick of looking at that ehGood to hear the medicinal chocolat is proving it's worth. More importantly, is family sick of Bisto Dog yet...? I'm right here, tell them :nodding:
That's a begger about your heating 2p, is it a better or worse banging? Could the wiseheads on the DIY board provide insight? :fingerscrossed: I'm happy to share my sunsets - it was another good one last night and it changed just about every time I looked at it. Triptych at the end. When I was 'planning' my garden I made sure there was something purtty growing in winter in the bit I can see when I'm stood at the sink. Doesn't have to be fragrant cos I'll not smell it from the kitchen. The fragrant stuff went down the right hand side cos if it's flowering it'll be summer and I'll be out there to smell it anyway. Itms.
If I knew who Merrily Watkins is taff I might say yesI was making the most of a view that didn't include those soddin' poles at the front or the church at the back. My pics are getting a bit samey.... I like your flowers - I don't have geums (gea?) or borage but I could do with some if I find a sticky bit while I'm out and about... Himself didn't make up for his transgression
I'm just waiting on something drying then I can tell yous about it.
Jeez you've loads growing in your garden Less almost a rainbow-fullWhat's the sixth one down? It's a bit splatty cow patty looking with the diddy orange flowers on the ends...? I've never seen that before, it's lovely. And catkins too
Parp prp prp prp parp parp parp paarrpp for getting one on Wordle pp(I take it that's hard is it?) What will your starter word be then? Funny you should say about thinking the zoo would be relieved that Hogmanay was cancelled - that was my first thought too
Welcome back ArbMerry Christmas and a happy new year to you too
I did giggle about the seeds you want but then already have, that's what I'm like  I've never heard of red flowered strawbs before, they'll look good. I wonder if they'll taste different..? I'm a celeriac fan too, nice as a bed of mash with a bit of grilled fish on top of it
OT It wasn't a bad day yesterday so I restarted the Forth bridge got some weeding done. Bit more to finish this morning and then that's it for a wee while. Not a bad morning, breeze is picking up already but it's mild with it, then it all goes to hell this aft and tonight. I hope you nor/sou'westers have battened down your hatches! Why does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? Because they give him case ideas.9 -
Triptych Quadtych. This was the same sunset, pics taken a few minutes apart -It was glorious
Anybody see this on the home page? Guess who took the G for gardening spot?

Those are stunning sunset photos Bluey!
That's a great ecclesiastical view, you have there. From experience, if you live in a town, just one excellent view is doing better than most, especially if it's to the west. We had none in our first house and a 'just about' in our second, but only in the garden. Even here, I have to borrow a hoss to add interest!
Glad to see prodigal Arb back in the fold."Suddenly got busy" is nicely enigmatic!
Taff and Less appear to have more flowering plants in their gardens than I saw at Rosemoor on Sunday.I recognise all, except the dark hairy one with orange bits.
I've a pet slime mould that shows some similarity, but it's not that.
Now an apology to Mr Will Budgett, whose sculpture I featured yesterday. This is it:It isn't in the gaffer tape and banana league after all, and had I not been trying to catch up with Mrs Dusty, I might have read more.
Anyway, not being one to accept anything at face value, I did a little research and discovered the piece isn't meant to be viewed in daylight. It's a light installation, with the shadows it casts viewable on the Corten steel panels behind. I'd go so far as to say the results are very clever. More details on Mr B's website. Mr B misspells Rosemoor, but that's OK, because their info misspells his name, none of which helps with Duckx2 Go!
One benefit of being a 'conspiracy theorist' is having slug pellets that work.8 -
Wow, no way is that the same sculpture 😳 I wouldn’t know where to start with summat like that.
🎺🎺YBE well done on the mention ,fame at last. Plus your sunsets are immense, love those last 3d style ones I feel I could climb in the rolling clouds. I love the sunsets in this house I’m East at the front West at the back. But rarely see the sunrise except at work where we get fab ones through the window as we busy away ,needless to say without time to capture it.
Today is looking windy and so the towels are going on the line. I’ve a hotpot to make for tonight, at the family NYE party. I’m going to take down a few of the Xmas decorations,as the next few days are busy working ones. I’ve noticed the primroses are out as I walk up the path and could do with weeding. Not sure when I’ll get round to it though.
welcome back Arb.All the very best to everyone for the new year let’s hope it’s a good one.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -

That's the well-known Cow Pat LichenThat number of flowering flowers surprised me as much as anyone...pity the rest of the garden is just mud and windblown weeds... (and a few manky-looking veg...). But, the New Year is almost here, and all gardeners know things are only going to get better8 -
Lovely sunsets Bluey, nature has a way of cheering you up if you stop to look.Congratulations on your being quoted in the Blog, I did say once before you should be a writerI had a weird sunrise here which I thought about photographing but it was a strange dark orange and charcoal black clouds in front. Defo says storm. But the birds were out singing this morning and I stopped to listen so can't be all bad.A strange plant that Less, it's beautiful in a dracula sort of way. Do you get many comments on it? Only plants people see the facinating in things.Hope your washing dries Wort. I was wondering if a stiff wind might be good to get washing dry at last. What can I say, lifes not that interesting at the momentDusty I take it all back. That's so clever, I would like something like that. Have to think how to do it MSE and cheer up the orange fence I seem not to be able to disguise. Not sure what's on today. Started bright, almost sunny but now clouded over in dense white. Storm not due till this evening though and so many paths not open in woodland because of the devastation from the last storm. But all that dead wood = more insects = more birds so not all bad at all.May go for a walk up the river while I can but it's not looking promising out there. One for Dusty to name ...............And talk about ferns and such, how lovely is this moss..........when you see them in the wild you wonder why we tidy up gardens so much.I loved this log

Wow, cracking sunsets again. And flowers out as well. Here it is wet, rain has stopped for breather, and grey, the garden is brown & manky dead stalks yellowWhile out checking during a lull yesterday, I found zero fruit buds or any signs of impending spring, which is probably Good because a hard frost is due by Friday.pink_poppy said:Came home and had the last but one portion of hot chocolate with a slug of Baileys and a big squirt of Baileys squirty cream. I've ordered more of the hot chocolate, twopenny, it's so nice
Farway, hope you manage to shake off the lurgy.I'm still drinking mine, had a mug of it yesterday as it happens, just neat, no Baileys etcLurgy has dispersed, diluted by chocolateArbs, thanks for update on T & M offer, but I guess by linking the fruit trees they are clearing unwanted stock.A neighbour has red flowered strawberries, from what I've seen they are more ornamental than fruitful, but that could be position, he has them as path edgingCeleriac is a slug magnet, but when I grew it, it is a buff tugger & shakes slugs off[With acknowledgements to YBE for letter translocation idea]
And also congrats on blog name-drop.That sculpture, amazing how imaginative some can be.I think I've seen a rude one somewhere, two separate figures that appear to do naughty things at sunset.More trivia found since my previous post on HMS Warrior.Warrior was built at the Thames Iron works, the company also supplied the iron works for the Tamar bridge to bring Pasties to the mainlandNow, the killer, they had a football club which became West Ham FC, and the two Hammers on the badge are riveting hammers as used in ship buildingOnly gardening will e more catalogue dreamingGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot6 -
Bluddy’ell Dusty, that’s amazing! You’d hardly think it was the same thing
I take back my earlier snitty comment, and my apologies to Mr Budgett too.
It’s a grand drying day here too, but the rains are due to start “in the next hour” (no matter when you look at it) Good luck for your towels wort
Cow Pat Lichen *nodding* aye that’ll do Less
Jeez I love your photos 2p ☺️ What I wouldn’t give to have that in my doorstep. How’s the car btw? Have you had a good go in it yet? Thanks for the kind words re the Forum A-Z thing folks, but I mentioned it to draw attention to the fact that, of all the gardening things that’s happened this year, @worki@Working_Mum won the place in the Hall of Fame :clapping:
Anyway I was only coming on quickly before I make some lunch to say about himself’s transgression. We were out looking for a new bird tray, or failing that a new bird feeder system thing. The one I’ve got is a pole one with curlycews attached so you can hang but feeders etc if it. Well the gc’s were rammed with Christmas tat and annoying people, so he said he’d go out the next day and get me the same thing again. All fine and dandy. Except this is what he came home with -If it’d been a joke one and he’d got a proper one as well that would’ve been great, but this was it!Why does Sherlock Holmes love Mexican restaurants? Because they give him case ideas.8 -
Oh no YBE... do you have anywhere to hang it at all? Could you maybe screw some cup hooks into the bottom for your feeders and use the top for suit balls or does it need to go right back for a refund?
Well, I said I wasn't buying any seed, but while I was tidying up the beds and planning what I want to go where, I was thinking I'd pick up a second gooseberry... which led me back to Mr F (for a Hinnonmaki Red to go with my planted late last year Hinnonmaki Yellow).
While I was there I noticed they had a couple of decent offers on for fruit bushes (I'd been thinking about some black and red currents to replace the less than thriving honeyberries), and I decided to pick up some fresh nasturtiums (the germination rate from the seed I saved last year wasn't great)
All in all, I need to resolve not to go back onto a plant website for at least a month, but not a bad payday haul
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.8
