Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Well that was a drive in the pouring rain, wind and murk that wasn't pleasant!Roads taking the brunt of the rain as the fields are soaked and flooding and everything was black from 4pm.So I guess my gardening yesterday was a waste of time as the weeds will take root again and the soil solidifyPredicted rain and winds up to 70mph but how much you can believe from a site that says 400mph/night at 3pm and 400c sunshine is debatable. But I'd guess gardening in off for the forseeable.Good news Farway on your bargain buys. You and I are well sorted for things to do in this weatherWhat about glue and coconut for snow? But the spray is better.Lucky you Greenbee, getting out there on the plot. But the taking down part you could possibliy leave to the weather
Maybe even the putting away.
Dusty I love those Hydranga wreathsI've seen them for sale near here and was tempted. I was considering making one though I only have one colour. Probably by tomorrow not even that
Poppy -one chicken
I loved the glaze and thought that went into the design. It's standing guard over my cuttings that have mostly gone black - they may or may not be aliveGot to go and change as I've been out to put the garden chairs on their back before they fall and see where the sound of gutters overflowing are..............it's a snuggle down night and deal with when it's over.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

According to the inebriates, we currently have 48mph, non-Bovaer winds, and I can hear driving rain.Five minutes ago, I had a phone call from Lisa, who thought she'd like to pop over and collect the two conservatory chairs advertised on Faceache.
I politely pointed out it's a foul night to be doing a round trip of 60 miles, half of it along equally foul roads. Oh, but it was OK because she'd have an Alsatian with her!
At that point, I decided one of us had to be the grown-up, so there was a flat "No, please phone back tomorrow, and we'll do it in daylight."
At this rate, it will be lucky if DD's train makes it here for 19.00. There's always a tree across the line somewhere on nights like this. After that rant, time for another picture. How about people inhaling substances in plastic bags?Hay and silage, of course!
Oh, and the clue was 'trouble.' Err...I haven't misunderstood the puzzle have I? It wouldn't be the first time! Now I'm worried."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6 -
Thank you, Dusty - no, you haven't misunderstood the puzzle
I'm glad it wasn't just me that didn't get it. I actually googled 'memory loss due to BPPV' yesterday, because I'm definitely not as 'with it' since having BPPV and apparently it can cause cognitive issues... I love word puzzles and quite often got 100% on Wordiply, with the same word as them (or a different word with an equivalent number of letters) and a few times more than 100% with a rare long word. Not for a few days though, so they've either made it harder, or I'm losing my marbles touch.
twopenny, I LOVE your chicken - hope she doesn't fly away with the wind this weekend.
Hope there's no damage caused by Storm Darragh, Dusty, twopenny, Less, greenbee and anyone else in the eye of the storm. Stay safe everyone.
We've got heavy rain forecast later today, but only an hour or so of 40+mph winds.
Ps hope your DD got home safely last night, Dusty.'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -
Woke up to a watery blue sky and bright this morning after the awful yesterday. Gulls chuntering rather than screaming so they seem happy.About 7c and no wind so enjoying it while it's here. Aparantly the next bit of bad weather is coming in around lunch time - just in time for when I'm freeThe garden looks ok so far and I've been able to stand out with my cup of tea and think about what I'd like to do.But Seems it will be a while before I can go out and enjoy it and hoping it's mild over Christmas and I can go out there and play. Christmas has been going on for 4mts now - with the garden centre being stuffed full of decorations in September and the inevitable songs. Heartily fed up with it.Chicken still in place. She moves around a bit every now and thenI also have a big yellow chicken in my kitchen. Not as cuddly as Dustys but a lot easier to look after

Ps hope your DD got home safely last night, Dusty.I'm glad I got the right idea about the Wordiply. I used to be ultra-competitive in my youth, but now I normally avoid puzzles, knowing the old grey matter isn't what it was.DD reached her station about half an hour later than normal, thanks. At least she can text her progress nowadays with some confidence the message will come through in a timely manner. It's quiet outdoors this morning, and clouds are still light grey. We have about 6 hours before Storm Darragh arrives, so I'd better get a wiggle on....Love your guardian hen, 2p.She seems to be laying better than ours, some of which have only just changed their feathers. Not being hybrids, they're having a few months R&R.
Staying on-topic for once, Sunday's Show wouldn't have been complete without a chance to buy some old garden tools. As we mentioned billhooks recently, I focused on those. Prices seem about right: £25-35 depending on rarity and condition.PS. Lisa rang again to say she'd bought two other chairs from a town about 5 miles from her village. She's obviously a decent sort, and an optimist!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7 -
Dusty, I wouldn't worry about the fatstock, all I can see is bacon and porky goodness...and I did not know that about the flowers, now I'm not sure I want to put them in my garden because I am a big unfan of yellow. While the hydrangeas are kinda pretty I'm thinking, £4.50 for a pine cone? I did just have a drool over the tools though, I love knives and sharp things. I also have a thing I brought back with me that I don't know what it does but you may. I'll post a picture of it later on...Good shout on the doing it in daylight too, and bless, she was right there for other opportunities wasn't she?
Good to know DD is progressing.
Good luck tomorrow Less, it's not looking good weather wise..2P, loving your chicken, the glaze is rather good isn't it? Going to have to look out for something similar, I just have the emotional egg holding support china chicken.PP, you have recreated a monster, now I must play wordiply again....Maybe your brain is just a bit woozy after the regular spinning it's getting...Nuffin much happening today, I'm weighing up back garen v allotment, back garden involves laying slabs for a shed, alotment is just pure fun....the latter is generally winning at the moment.

I’m glad I was working yesterday , The rain was torrential in the afternoon with lots of flooded roads.
Today alerted fairly bright, but soon turned grey ,rain forecast later so took myself up the cemetery earlier, gave the grave a clean and put Xmas pot on , I do my own flowers using faux stuff too. As the rabbits eat everything. I did the rounds of the graves and walked back calling mini Tesco for veg for tea.
I love the hydrangea wreath, very pretty. I’m stumped with the word, I’ll stick to wordle.
when emotional support chickens were first mentioned I took it as the chicken needing emotional support 😂😂Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
