Working_Mum that must have been the supermoon, Hunters Moon. How lucky were you! It was the usual cloud here despite it being clear all day. It did light up the building though, even with the cloud.I used to take the dog walking over the sand dunes in full moon because you could see quite clearly. Unlikely that anyone up to no good would wait in the wilderness in the hope someone might turn up.As usual bright this morning when I was doing my duty indoor events. Charcoal black all afternoon with so little light and a strong chill wind that the most I did plantwise was take a drive to look for potential photo oportunities but it wasn't inspiring. It was supposed to rain but it didn't. Just made you think it was bedtime from about 3pm.Yes the various coughs and such around here, seems lots have them. I've been and sorted out some more hand gel to try and keep them away.Farway you'll be lucky to see Halloween stuff, seems to be Christmas already. I feel like I've already had Christmas I've been surrounded so much.Just bought myself some Lindt chocky biscuits, the new ones they've bought out for my Christmas basket. I'll wrap them and stow in garage so I forget they are there - maybe. They were £4 in Superdrug where they are £6 in the supermarkets.I may have to go back to stock upTomatoes - well the Gardeners Delight aren't. Just a smaller ok type. They are slowly, one by one, showing a change in colour when I pick them and put them in the kitchen, a bowl with others in various stages and I'm getting them ripening quickly like that. The San Mazano are still green, a funny shape and no bananas/ripe toms/warmth is ripening them. Just developing black spots or splitting.Used the supermarket tomatoes that go over too quick to make a sauce for pasta with some discounted spring onions, olive oil and left over Mozarella cheese for pasta. That was delish.Tescos do Buffalo Moz which is worth the extra. In a pot it stays firm, tastes of something and melts with heat unlike the white solid milk efforts.Usually the toms in supermarkets go right down in price when they're in season here but I haven't seen that since the pandemic. Good for making chutneys and sauces.

Not for me, but someone else might. I still have seeds, and will grow them again. They were particularly useful for friends/relatives who don't have much space or time.
Lots of rain here overnight, but it's a bright morning and the drunks say it'll be a good 'un.Typically, I have to wend my way to civilisation for an eye test, this year preceded by many questions, which has never happened before.
I took 5 years off my age, which I'd love to do IRL, of course!
It won't make much difference, though, if they tell DVLA “This old buffer can't see beggar all!”
Happily, the random hedge cutting generator gave the one on the road by us an early slot this time.Sometimes, we wait for our view to return until January or February. I have a particular love for the line of beech trees on the horizon, some of them marching away from us, making them look smaller. Here's a photo of them glowing in the sunshine recently:
When we bought this place, it was so overgrown, we didn't know this view existed. With another storey, we could look down into the valley too, but that would be too much luck!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -
Damp with overnight rain, but sun's just popped out for rest of the day, then Gawd help us tomorrow it seems.twopenny said:As usual bright this morning when I was doing my duty indoor events. But then if it were commonplace it would not be “different” would it? But I'm not one to plan photos much, like tide times etc, if I were, I think I'd get down Southsea tomorrow with the South Run, very wet & windy forecast so plenty of puffing & soggy runners.Lindt chocky, by coincidence Lindt was a sub in this week's shopping, it is nice, and now I may just see what is around, hope your garage is mouse free or they'll have an early ChristmasGardeners Delight toms, someone, maybe Dusty? When we bought this place, it was so overgrown, we didn't know this view existed. With another storey, we could look down into the valley too, but that would be too much luck!I've just had reminder for eye test, I can't think of different questions being asked, but I'll soon find out, did they ask if you were pregnant? Seems it is required in some places, for inclusivity! They sneaked the can I see to drive test in without telling, they told me afterwards I was fit to carry onI like that marching tree line, bet it would look good in bleak winter with snow, bare trees and flight pterodactyls crossing overSpotted a photo op last night, more moon, used my fancy Scene selection bit on the camera, to try & get the mood rightFancy writing is free fonts, loaded into Photoshop. I also have snow topped ones for if it ever snows down here.

The RHS removed Gardener's Delight's AGM a good few years ago. They were no longer true to type.
Doesn't stop the seed companies still extolling their supposed virtues, of course.
I wasn't asked about pregnancy. There were several males in the shop who looked like they were, though. A whole family, eating pasties and drinking cans of fizzy!I'm not sure why they were there. Perhaps they thought it was a cafe. Everywhere looks like cafés now, even the bank!
Anyway, it was all good. The deep scan thing didn't pick up anything nasty, my mild signs of cataracts are still mild enough to ignore, and I can definitely see past the end of the car's bonnet. Hurrah!"That'll be £400, please!"
It's been a fabulous day, weatherwise. It was so lovely, I parked in a four letter supermarket's car park and walked the half mile into town, trying out some £145 walking boots I won for £14 on the Bay. Boy, was I glad I did! They don't suit me at all.Back on the Bay they go!
Another great moon shot.I have nothing artistic to offer now, so here's a second cold frame knocked-up with bits & bobs. It was planted up last week with perennial wallflower and penstemon cuttings 'borrowed' from walking friend's garden.
We've lost ours, but she got hers from me originally, so now they've come home.

Nice photos Dusty and Farway, very different but equally beautiful.Great you've got your view and what a good oneFarway I'm not putting mine up now because I can't beat that. I did manage to get the seas on the moon through double glazing - trouble was it was doubledDid you get to the GC today?Poppy are you home safe? Or holed up somewhere safe. That weather up there sounds dreadful.Tipped it down last night, then sun then mizzle just as I was about to mow the lawn and pot bulbs so I did what you would do and got in the car and headed for the moorsI've been to the repair shop this morning but my hour on the moor of course turned to 3 but I did enjoy it. Rutting season and other photographers to talk to. Sadly I think this big boy might have been taken out to get a better gene pool but won't know till I can get a closer new photo this year. Seems to be a youngster taken over but was hidden by rushes. Also not many hinds in his hareme, I'll just have to go out again to checkCame home and checked the wetness of the lawn and it was - WET. Neighbour has mown but it's a mess, just a shorter mess.

Bruise is going through the motions, and wrist has decided it wants the limelight or it's not bothering so I'm almost back to 2 things now. I was honestly expecting some mock-up of a fellah in a bikini Dusty!
I've just noticed you've not been with us since Thursday.I hope that's because you're miffed at my failure to provide a titillating photograph
, not the result of your war wounds becoming worse!
Supposed to be tipping-down here, but just windy and damp so far.I believe things are due to become somewhat scary 'Oop norf' soon, as storm Ashley moves in.
Are ye back from your travels, and on the mainland yet, pp?"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Aye Dusty I've been away sulking over the lack of a bikini pic
Just fed up tbh, which isn't like me. I'm not a very good patient, especially as I'm not actually sick sick and it's just bladdy annoying. *sigh*
Anyway. Thank you for the apple tree adviceI've no fallen apples (they're all picked weeks ago) nor leaves... will I nip all the leaves off or leave it be now...? It should've looked it up in my Hessybod books but a) they're on the bottom of my bookcase and b) it didn't occur to me  When himself peels his erse outta bed it'll be his first job, raking out my gardening books.
I've forgotten what everyone said now, naturally. Farway your Autumn pic should be our banner imo. I used to walk the dogs in the full moon light too 2p, it was magical, I loved itStill no sign of @ArbitraryRandom... I was thinking of you yesterday Arb - Lovely Neighbour came round and jet washed my patio and I was surprised at the difference considering it's not that old! How's yours doing?
OT Bit windy out there and the rain's just starting. The brunt of the wind will be top left did the weatherman say? Hope you're alright pp and wort. Rain for just about everyone iirr, because that's equality and inclusivity for you.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Quick pop in before off to see DS + his family, not sure if GC café visit will still be on with them, but take it as it comesDustyevsky said:Supposed to be tipping-down here, but just windy and damp so far.

But these days I suppose no organisers can take a chance on people just using common sense to avoid hazards like slipping over in the wetShame cancelled really, a lot of people will have been training for a long time, and some have travelled many miles as wellIf wind does get up, it'll be a blowy drive West to DSDustyevsky said:Anyway, it was all good. Even if I was not going out it would be nil gardening due to weather, but I do still have last week's GW to catch up on once I'm back homeJust spotted YBE post as I refreshed, hope your ailments ease, and just leave the apple leaves to fall by themselves, won't take long in the coming storms I bet.Which reminds me, DSs fruit trees, last seen at death's door, I wonder how they have fared?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Apologies, I forgot your peaceful-looking stag photo 2p. No need for moon shots when you can photograph wildlife like this!
Perhaps NASA have given up on moon shots too. I distinctly remember 2024 being the year they were 'going back.' They only have a couple of months left, then.
Looks like 50mph winds, coupled with a high tide, are the worry at Portsmouth, Farway. Here, it looks like the worst that'll happen is a tree falling on you, so pretty normal. Another hour of murk and we're promised sunshine.
Good to hear you are still with us, Bluey.I'm not a good patient either, and I'm sorry about the lack of a half-naked photo; the pressure washing is still on hold. I once compèred a children's talent show sporting Darth Maul underpants for the 'Pants to Poverty' Comic Relief thing.
It wasn't pretty, but no one complained, and the kids had plenty of talent and fun.

2p I have a 13 tog feather quilt , I would suggest a down filled quilt as they are supposed to be very light but still cosy. If you have a tkmaxx nearby they sometimes have them , maybe check the weight by lifting the boxes? They aren’t Cheap so if you can go somewhere they sell them and check them out? M and S or John Lewis?Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7
