Just a quick pop in cos I need to get the dinner on.Yep you mentioned a while ago you’re an artist 2p, and about your avatar. You didn’t put up the full pic though, I love that 😊 Glad you got some rain at last.
Thanks for the kind words re the pigeon using my car roof as some sort of wet room folks. Considering it was a really quick point+shoot, through a rain spattered window, into a storm, they came out quite well 👏🏻
Bluddy weather doesn’t know what it wants to do here, so it’s cycling through every option apart from Winter. It rained earlier, then stopped and drizzled and stopped and drizzled etc. then the whole thing lifted and the sun came out for a good few minutes. Cool cloudy and dry now.Bob’s done the steps, and I’m quite pleased with them. I’ll update the other thread. There were lillies on Beechgrove last night, I meant to say that this morning. In case any Auntie-less person hasn’t seen it yet 😉I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Well the poem is very appropriat BlueyGone from 15c with northerly to 25c with westerly. Been for a drive (nerves of steel on a BH weekend) and there was a bit of agressive instruction on my part with some massive cars that just keep coming despite me reversing.Went to buy my special tea where it's cheapest (we have a factory in a village) found this on the entrance to the shop. You never know round here what you;ll see.A parot being taken for a walk, fighting goats, chassed by a cow and morris dancers on top of the moor !So I've driven a 15mile round trip and theres standing water in one village, soaking marsh in another, the moors are purple and green but where I am it's bone dry with no animals in the fields because parched.I can tell you your Christmas lamb is on it's way and your spring lamb just being started.........Back to reality and must get out there and feed, prune, replace bulbs etc and hope to still be awake enough to do some sewing.

I'm envious of your 25 degrees, twopenny, it's 12 degrees here and pouring with rain. The fire will be going on again tonight.
I'm envious of your wall and steps too, YBE, it looks really goodWhat will you have at the bottom of the steps??
So the consensus is that the 'teeth' of the handbag plant are actually seeds. I just find them really creepy looking.
Will Araldite work on your mirror, twopenny?? We used it to fill a hole in the bath when my DH knocked a shelf into it - lasted for years until we got a new bath (just before we moved)...
Your toms look good, Farway. I've just picked another 3 off my indoor plant - I'm thinking of giving them and another 3 or 4 that I've got in the fridge to lovely neighbour, because his plants all got caught by a late frost a while back.
Happy new haircut, Dusty'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Farway, you'll like day lilies all the more when I tell you they're edible. Those steps would do us wondrously at Dusty Acres, Bluey.
All we have is a ramp made from slabs, but the conservatory door it leads to won't open anyway, the lock having broken last month.
Think it's got to be door before elegant descent here!

The guy with the hawk in Porlock might have an excuse for the thermal hat if he's flying it on the moor, but why take it to the High St, of all places?
Must admit, I've a soft spot for Morris Dancers, even if they're all boozers. We don't seem to have many around this part, but they're prolific down south. Here's a video which I think taff will like. Morris with a dark side!Haircut's taken 10 years off me pp.

Wow that's a good one Dusty! Great choreographyI felt that about the bird mainly the crowds and heat but it seemed happy enough. It had been flying and had a full crop of food. It's only a youngster, perhaps he's trying to get it accustomed to people as he wants to display in future.Poppy, it dropped to 13c this evening and dark and wet again so you aren't the only one.And I like those seed pods. It's beautiful in a strange way.Tried to feed the toms but the water runs off so to feel better I scattered some rose food around. As they are going to bloom again once it really does rain I thought they may need it.Bags cut, another coat of paint on the outside lights. Black to white, it really lightens the building/alley up. Only thing was I couldn't find the last screw. Only one I took out and put down somewhere safe and obvious

Morning all, yeasterday was lovely here sunny and the wind wasn’t too bad. I had been expecting worse and as I was heading to Manchester mid afternoon for tea then the Peter Kay gig, I was unsure what to put on🥴 suffice to say had a wonderful time not laughed so much in ages. Of course back to earth with a bang when trains home get cancelled and a long wait is needed to the last one.
Today has started sunny so bed stripped and wash on, though if Ventusky is right need it out and dry by 11-12 as rain on way! I’m having a lazy day , as I’m working the bank hol tomorrow.
The fluff meister is say sunning himself in a patch of sun on the rug giving himself a good wash.
Farway I have daylilies somewhere not that I see them , as they are rather hidden and never really spread. Quite sure mine are the bog standard and my fluffy man has no interest in plants pure carnivore he is.
I hope everyone gets a bit of sun and enjoys the bank holiday.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Ok I've had a proper read back and a catchup.
Swish chard made me chuckle. It really is the little things ehWoohoo MrsD winning 3 prizes, even if they are useless. Grrr to moles, impudent articles
That's another topic to be careful of putting into pintrest - lovely doors/garden doors/aged doors *happy sigh* I quite like morris dancers too tbh, jiggling about the place to a jolly tune - what's not to like?
Farway what's furry kettles? You're on the edge of the Chalky Downs with furry kettles...? Both those toms look tasty, just right for nipping off and popping in your mouth while they're still warm from the sun
Ooh a bit of scandal taffDid/does Scottish grandfather know he's Scottish but not grandfather..? Did/does Polish grandfather know he's Polish and grandfather..? Your family tree will be interesting with extra branches eh. What's the plan for the front-door-matching terracotta tiles?
2p your mirror - as the garage done the damage they should be the ones to repair it imo. I'd be taking it back when they reopen. Swines. Gawd the things you see when you're out - I like the hawk (?) man. Were you allowed to stroke it? One thing I do if I'm messing on with small things - take a jam jar lid or an old margarine tub or something with me - put screws, garden clip things, seeds into it while I'm trying to remember what I was meant to be doing
Animals will always find the best spot eh wort, whether you're in it or not
Sunny now, 14'c and a high of 18 to come. Possibly. Gardening today, I've roses to dead-head and one to tie up a bit and I've maybe even cut me grass. Then I'll start trawling pintrest and cooing and sighing over all the various types of gardens I wish I had :rolleyes:I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Rain stayed stopped and this morning the sun is out, cooler but dry.YoungBlueEyes said:There were lillies on Beechgrove last night, I meant to say that this morning. In case any Auntie-less person hasn’t seen it yet 😉Not that there is much to miss some weeks IMO, and where do they find all these folks with acres of garden to design? Some is interesting but hardly relatable to most of their audience, I would think.I think I'm more with Bob F adding wee to his compostI never knew day lilies were edible, but having looked it up I see they are, but the advice is to take care if you've never eaten them before. You may be in the 5% or so that have an adverse reaction. Some reactions are in the Jerusalem Artichoke territory of flatulence, others may be worse, of course.Anyway, I'll pass for now because I'm hoping to pick more runners once sun dries out the foliage a bit. Loads more beans are ready, still not in glut mode, but very happy with a crop I never planned for.More blackberries ready as well, I'll get them at the same timeYoungBlueEyes said:Farway what's furry kettles? Also provides world beating trout streams and watercress
.
Not your soft Northern softy stuff.Mixed feelings about the water, supposed to be good for hearts, all that calcium, great for coating all the inside of lead pipes used in past days, allegedly prevented lead poisoning.Bad for destroying immersion heaters, kettle & electric shower elements by coating them in layer of ever thickening chalk, giving hot spots & burning outEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Ah ok, I thought it was some sort of rhyming slang
You'd have to be further north than me to get soft water, it's proper 'ard here.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Another cold start to the day, cloud and easterly wind but at least it wasn't dark like yesterday.I'm dithering on the 'puter as I'd like to go for a walk but it looks like winter out there.Bluey, the mirror had fallen off previously and stuck back on by the motorhome luxury converter on a Friday evening in exchange for a tin of his favourite coffee. I knew to hold on if adjusting - not that it will adjust much so not the mechanics fault I have everything glued together and didn't think to say. That's pretty much how it goes around here working on exchangeHave a relaxing day Taff. We seem to be told to 'do something' all the time and never to relax, enjoy doing nothing. I'm going to be sewing (perhaps) and watching gardening progs as I bet there's kids progs & sport on telly and then plan to read and drink tea while I can. A weeks time and everything starts up again here and I'll be racing around. The best garden is one where you can sit and read the paper over coffee, take your lunch and a glass of wine/beer. It's not something people congratulate you on unless it's on hereYou know the montbretia, bog standard, ordinary that's so derided? I saw two huge clumps about 4ft wide in a long grassy hillock and it was stunning. Not the first plant that's come in for stick I've seen grown en masse where it's looked magnificent
