Haha, funny pigeon, YBE, but what a cheek that it did a poo after
Loo strifeI like the plant though - it would do well in our wet soil.
I've seen the stuff of nightmares in my garden this afternoon... the lovely 'hanging handbags' plant has turned all ghoulish... all pics taken today...
It went from this...
To this...
And then this...
And finally, this...
What the heck?! Are they seeds?? Aliens?! I really don't like the look of them now
The following pics even make it look like they have teeth!!
Apologies to anyone of a nervous disposition haha. If they are seeds, does anyone want any?!'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Poppy what a lovely set of photos
really shows the changes.
And a facinating plant. Looks ok to me. No idea about the white things, are they squidgy like a berry which will have a little seed in it?Farway, Dusty thank you bothI'd really like that but where I want it is shade and it says sun..........but I've bookmarked the link because 'you never know'
Brighter this afternoon and went on the moor briefly, was going to try a walk but the flies were everywhere! I'll have to look out my citronella. But the colours up there were a-m-aaaazing. So that was good.Bright yellow gorse, deep purple heather for miles right down to the sea.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I don't know what your white blobs are either pp, but I agree they look a bit toothy/alien-ish. *shudder* Put rubber gloves on and give one a squish, see what happens and report back
I'm gonna vote seeds, because if those pics were all taken one day then nothing will have had time to drag it's erse up there and lay eggs. Oh unless they did it while it was a flower!
Thanks for the mind-bleach of yellow gorse and purple heather 2p. You live in such a beautiful area, I'm not surprised you're never in.
How's the deep bed digging going Dusty, Careful you don't discover a great-crested lesser-spotted finagle-bobbin. Or a Roman villa
Rained here overnight, not much though I don't think. Cool and humid out there now - 13'c - but a lovely evening in store. They say.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
I'm trying to think of something cheery to say but for goodness sake! It's dark like winter, it's been raining but not enough to wet the soil and it's lights on to see what you're doing! No one is moving outside, not a car, plane or train. Not warm either. This weather just drags on.So no pruning today, the foliage and grass is too wet. Planned to make the fruit bags along with a load more sewing in front of the telly and trying to persuade myself to go out for a walk first but it's not inviting in any way.Bluey how did you know I draw stuff? Did I say? Here's a photo that I took my avatar fromSo I'm hoping someone's in sunshine and has some interesting activities to share so I know life is still going on

They're certainly the seeds pp.This is a picture I've borrowed of a Crinodendron hookerianum at both stages. The change happens so fast, you were clever to notice and document it in detail (with that new phone!)I did a little more digging yesterday Bluey, but having been charged with feeding 10 people, I spent a fair time making spag bol in various forms to cope with individuals' religions and preferences. Mrs Dusty was conveniently absent at two garden club events, where she won 3 prizes, none of them remotely desirable or useful. It's dreary and damp this morning, but if the heavy rains predicted came in the night, I didn't hear them. The soil's reasonably damp now, so the mole that's been in the chicken area is now making a break for the lawn.No other news I can report here, but I thought people might like this picture Mrs Dusty took for me when we visited the farmers' store this week. It seems growing chard is now becoming a fashion statement. You saw it here first!"Everything's just f.....ine!"7

Wet & raining, at least it's proper stuff, so I have a couple of days off watering. The rain is good & bad because I had intended picking more runners & blackberries, but fumbling among wet foliage is not for me, if it clears & dries & may go and have a fumbleThanks for ID'ing the Vitis Dusty, does your one ever fruit, with grapes? Just curious really, I imagine any grapes would be small pippy things anyway.Good pics of the whatever seeds PP, very interesting looking plant, I would have a go from seed. But I see it needs acid conditions, and me being on the edge of Chalky Downs with furry kettles it would only struggle.I've changed my mind about tomato Rubylicious, it's one I bought on offer from T & M and by mistake had a forest of themOnly bought because of offer & supposed super blight resistantAs it was growing, it looked meh, with pea sized toms. But as they are starting to ripen the fruits are large cherries, not quite gob stopper size, but close. Held on long trusses, about a dozen on each truss. So far no blight on them, and awaiting final colour & taste test before I really decideOne tom variety that has proved it's worth, to me, yet again, is Balcony Yellow, this year I only had one plant left after knocking them on the floor, but it's come through, and now have some 2025 seedsIt is noticeable how the fruit has increased in size as I have fed them, the early ones are grape sized, the latter, fed, are larger. I know what to do next year. The red ones in pic are Veranda RedBoth grown in separate adjacent wall basketsBalcony YellowEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

Good god who turned the tap on? It is bucketing down here, mind you the plants are not complaining because it's defiitely wetting the soil.Sorry 2p, no sunshine here...I'm also a bit gutted you couldn't go whole hog fancy lace bags
Sadly too late for mine, coddling moth has got a fair few of them. I did eat one the other night with some wensleydale, weird flavour, but nice, it was like wine exploding at first then quite sharp...Maybe I'll make a tart with what's left.
I had a good laugh at your seize the moment pigeon ybe, even if it did leave some presents...And I like your Vitis thingy too Farway, one to keep in the back of my mind, although knowing my mind I'll be having to read through the whole thread to jog my memory later on. Love the bee bum echinacea pic, that;d look good framed on a wall. I did some dna thingy for ancestry and discovered my gran had been a naughty girl and I had a Polish, not Scottish grandfather. I thought that was quite racy of her so she gets much mental applause from me...My sister was not so pleased and refuses to entertain it. OH has interesting ancestors too, boat people from oop north on th canals and rivers..I did laugh Less at your unintended invoking of vanillaSwish chard... :::snort::::So I picked up some more roof tiles except they were cladding tiles, still cement but a terracotta colour [where they weren't exposed] with a scalloped edge so theyre going on top of the front garden tiles because I like the colour better...and they'll match our front door moreNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -

Proper, 'in the moment' photography again there.Sun's out here now. Most visitors departing. I may get a haircut before Mrs Dusty heads east on parental duties. It'll be quiet tomorrow!Has the sun reached you yet, 2p? Drunks say rain will clear you by 13.00 if not before.

Indeed we've had some sun for a couple of hours thanks Dusty. Even the north wind dropped for a while. But everyone is still in winter sweaters and jeans, no sign of shorts any more, not even the holidaymakers.I think the rain has sunk at least 3" into the soil which is the best we've had. Could do with some more.Massive clouds floating around but at least it's interesting and I can see.Fruit bags on hold again, the rear view mirror in the car has been pulled half off while in the garage and I have to find some way to fix it...........doulble sided tape didn't work. I superglued one to the windscreen.

Rain thinking of stopping with nearly enough blue sky for a sailor's collar.twopenny said:Fruit bags on hold again, the rear view mirror in the car has been pulled half off while in the garage and I have to find some way to fix it...........doulble sided tape didn't work. I superglued one to the windscreen. No doubt, YouTube will have a thousand vids on it, to while away a wet afternoonOn YT, I found some this wet morning, Bunny Guinness [sp?] and Bob Flowerdew, some with BF in his garden, quite interesting to see how he does it, inspiring at times. But his way may not be for everyone, or even allowed by Signifiant Others.Caught up with GW on YT as well, think I quite like Day Lilies, hemerocallis, now. I have some, but mine, as befits my status, are the common as muck ones.I see DL are toxic to cats, doesn't stop them in my garden, I think cats have read the book & know all about themI fancy some posh Day lilies, time for a browse & daydream.Furthermore, I see the National Collection is over Lymington way, appointment only viewing, but does have a catalogue.Just had a quick look, actually not too expensive for the special offer ones, under a tenner, which is better than I expected.Sun's out, time to quickly nip into garden & check how the netted apples have faredEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7
