Ooh, it does look a bit 'Close Encounters', Dusty.
Christmas decs up in August?! It gets earlier every yearI did see something on Faceache where one of the supermarkets had a Christmas tree up.
Hope you get out for your walk, wort. Do you have wet weather clothes?? I'm thinking of getting some waterproof trousers and maybe even a hat (I hate having my hood up) for our trip further up North in a few weeks time.
The weather looks to be a bit better today (yesterday was truly dire) and I even have my windows open at the moment. The sky is looking a bit ominous though, as if it might rain soon. Oh well, it's domestic nonsense and money juggling day for me.
Just about to hit 'post comment' and it started to rain, so windows now closed'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
That roof on the sitooterie looks like it would take off in a gale!! Not sure about the colour either, it needs toning down a bit.'A watched potato will never chit'...3

Just nipping in to say - saw this and before I forgetScroll down and there's something for everything........was thinking of the fence panels stuff. That would take a lot of work and do a better job than by hand. And the effects lastHave a good day folks, I'll drop by with a long post later. It's wet and windy here, another day like late September/October. Well of course we get rain, I watered some plants throughly yesterday
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

What dish you cooking at the weekend then Less...? And let me know when you're sick of that basket
Something with tomatoes(actually it's OH who does the cooking - I provide the veg...). Glad you like basket - made it myself when I did a basketry course a few years ago, based on an old egg-collecting basket belonging to my parent or poss grand-parent originally (we like to make things last in this household...). Actually I still have the original complete with holes - just for display/collecting dust
Gave up basketry tho', as I am sadly cack-handed, or could have offered to make you one... Bad luck on the blight - not seen any here yet, tho I'm sure we've had more dampness here than up there!
Our threatened torrential downpours and hoolie seems to have failed to materialise, though we did just have a mini power cut...just enough rain and flattening wind to make removing the last of my no-mow May likely to fall even more behind...7 -
It's dark & windy, no rain so far. Just like Autumn now, and I'm not going out there in this mank,.I had intended checking on the blackberries & runners but unless it brightens that's a job for another dayHope you do get a few ripe toms now with blight YBE, not like we had a summer before blight & autumn arrivedUpdate on horticultural DGD, currently she is near Aberdeen but finishes end of this monthThen, back to Mum's to get washing done
before she goes off to University of Gloucester, her course is Ecology & Environmental Science BSc Hons, based in Cheltenham bit of Uni.
She is wanting to work in conservation within horticulture, which sounds very posh. Perhaps I won't be able to mention Global Boiling when she is around. In a few years, she'll be on TV telling you all off!Today pics are continuing with the GC & posh house areaBee bum to startThe lower pic is a walled garden leading to Posh Family Church, area being revamped, I've blurred the notices IAW MSE not identifying locality rulePS, church is open to oiks, I've been in and TBH it's a bit bleak & sparse

Maybe they smoked some of those 'leaves.'
The house is called Westerly View, but while the owner was busy constructing these visual treats, the planners approved a development of 3 storey flats and houses which now block its lovely coastal outlook. There's a moral there, somewhere!

Poppy I feel for you up there, so short a summer too. But you sometimes get lovely warm autumns. Fingers crossed for you.Dusty the sitoorie - each to his own but to me looks a bit 'try too hard'Farway I love the wall and bed in front of the church. I'm very taken by the lovely autumn coloured leaves of ssome climbers but don't have the determination to deal with that now.Oh Les, basket weaving! I've got so many needlework things I've tried and hand painting china/paper etc that I still use in the house. I'm a fan of a lovely basket. Perhaps that's nextAs said, still grey, damp but the wind has died down for the moment.Had the local rat in the garden again yesterday afternoon. Just happened to see it climbed on the compost bin sinking it's teeth into my unripe CoxesUnfortunately because of the maelstrom life has been recently I hadn't ordered the fruit bags. Found that you can;t bookmark a page on a thread either with internet or this site. I just get the most updated post.....and I don't have time to put together an Amazon order with all the bits and pieces I want. Wish they still had their 'wish list'. I used to put stuff on as I remembered then ordered when I had minimal postage.so I'll pop down to the useless fabric shop. Probably easier than trying to find the muslin I've been saving for years for just such a day.So my immediate soloution was the cake covers I use against frost and bugs and the clips from Poundlandand an online idea of ziplock bags. Tested by a blogger who says they work well.Seemed enough to frighten the squirel that followed shortly after the rat!Of course just what I needed in this scenario - high winds and rain but so far, so good.

I forgot to say this morning - Tesco have nets of mixed daff bulbs in, £3 each or 2 for a fiver. Also people that don’t have a lot time on their hands should not put “Japanese gardens” into pintrest. Or “garden steps”. Or “moss gardens”.
Christ isn’t this place just agony at the minute! Bluddy vanilla whatever it is wants a good talking to/switching off and in again/upgrading to an actual working model
If it doesn’t pull itself up by it’s bootstraps and/or get a reboot, I’ll just lurk and read along for a bit.OT it’s half-heartedly trying to slightly sort of drizzle. Mild thoughI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Spoke too soon re. weather passing - BBC and drunkards have found another bigger and better hoolie heading our way overnight...Puzzled by all this talk of vanilla, as I don't seem to be getting any (nor have any idea what it is), but the "Thanks" button is very temperamental...Congrats to DGD Farway - I have two DC (is that a thing?) + one DSIL living in Gloucester, two of them alumni of Gloucester Uni (the not-so-posh Gloucester campus tho!)...maybe they will have an encounter... Could begin counting degrees of separation amongst posters to the thread, what with WM and YBE being practically neighbours n all7
