The bamboo bug pics (plural! 2 of! I actually got 2 decent pics!) are a good half way down page 1022 2p. I would do you a link but I don't know how. Seems like the fickle car has a silver lining then, look at all the jobs you're getting done
You wouldn't be feeling like the poor relation car-wise if you saw my one, it's a real Philosopher's Axe but it's worth so little now I can't afford to not get it fixed, itms? Hopefully the new fuel filter is the answer
Did you make a wish on your shooting stars...? I might actually go to Posh Town and see if Tesco has Cornish tatties mmmm
Robin teapot is going on my Santa list, along with a mug I saw somewhere else. I'll go find it again and get a pic because it's really good...
Aww you know what they say about robins FarwayGood that he found his own way out. I wonder if there's a league table of bird intelligence... Blackies don't nip in and out, that's for sure
That's some bean haul for someone who only thought about doing beans a few weeks ago! I didn't know you could eat bean pods, so in that respect they're like peas then?
That's some haul of squash (squashes?) Less. I like your table too. Sometimes you need the whole picture for an avatar to make sense. It's a struggle to make it fit the little round window eh. Well I struggled with mine.
Woohoo for Batwoman coming good Dusty! Sounds like you're on your way now are you? Greater Crested Newts excepting.
We watched that Beautiful Roads prog pp, I loved it, and the Yorkshire one too. Nice easy watchingTell you what else we watched - a thing on iplayer called Confessions of a Teenage Fraudster. That was worth a watch. 3 parts at 45 mins each. About a lad who's brain is built differently and he absolutely takes full advantage (he rips off credit cards) and going to jail doesn't stop him. I couldn't decide if he was an actual psycho who didn't give a ship, or someone who thought the whole thing was a massive international game and he was good at it. Likeable lad, a good story teller and candid with it.
You still in one piece wort? No fresh leaks sprung?
Cool this morning at 14'c, high of 22 to come. Properly bladdy windy after lunchtime though, they say. I'm not sure how it's happened but I've got meself a jobWell 'job'. I've become Handsome's walker on a Thursday morning in return for a box of Toffiffee. I don't even like them, but himself is manfully throwing them down his thrapple, in one sitting. Greedy pig. So a one-off while Lovely Neighbour finds someone else is now a permanent thing.
Right I'll go find this mug. And if it's not a fox's paw if anyone's looking for something to do could they nip over to the water bills bit and see if they can help on my post, pretty please? I've had no repliesI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -

Love the avatar, YBE, very clever. Not so sure about the mug - initially I thought how cute are those little feet, then I saw the other bits
Very funny - you do wonder how people come up with these ideas. I don't like the tea-towel holders on a similar theme that I've seen, they're just... not really sure how to describe them... unpleasant... creepy??
Did you find out who/what was murdered?? Hope the bloodstains washed out of your patio.
Sorry, can't help with the water question, our water rates are included with the council tax.
I'm expecting a new phone today - finally. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but our post and deliveries are dire. Fingers crossed for me.
It's raining, it's pouring and the old man was snoring, but he's gone to work now. Low chance of precipitation this afternoon.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Cooler, but sort of sunny with a strong breeze, more ideal for doing a lot of digging than sat reading a book weather. No further sightings of the [my] conservatory Robin, but I've left the window as open invite. Very tempted to see about getting some meal worms as a bribe, my fellow gardening volunteer has a visiting Robin, and she provides lunchtime mealworms for him / her / they.I think it needs further investigation, I don't want to make a rod for my poor old back. Would it be thin end of wedge, next stop bird table etc?Do I need to hold a sign up "Robins Welcome Here"! Or could it finish like The Birds?pink_poppy said:Did you find out who/what was murdered?? At least the garden would be dug over.Hope the new phone turns up, there are so many horror tales about missing AKA stolen phones, but I've never had any problems. But as was once remarked, any self-respecting thief would provide me with a better one rather than nick mine.YoungBlueEyes said:Aww you know what they say about robins FarwayGood that he found his own way out. The idea is for it to spread & make a nice bee friendly show over the years.Common old orange montbretia in background, plus unkempt grass that needs sortingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
I think if we tell 2p the 'bamboo bug was a dragonfly, it'll maybe help. I wish there was a bamboo bug that could chomp its way through one patch of mine, planted in the wrong place!Birds in conservatories/greenhouses etc are welcome if they eat the bugs and don't poo too much. Robins fit the bill, but I prefer wrens. We find wrens don't panic and usually know the way out if we upset them in the polytunnel, but often they ignore us and just get on with the bug hunt. Are you fit this morning, pp? For the second night this month, we had the low battery warning go off in the night on one of the smoke sensors. They have to be taken down to stop the 'beep,' so by the time someone has found a screwdriver.....I can't help with the water question, either. Unmetered agricultural user here. I'll say no more! That mug would be no good to me, Bluey. I'm not often fussy, but it's bone china or nothing when it comes to tea.
Doesn't steal so much heat from the water and just tastes....better. That one looks a bit like the underside of a mole, though I don't think that's his snout!!!
Still no car. Apparently, it was to be road-tested round 17.00 last night to check the EML light was truly out. That's the last I heard.Managed to rid the garden of literally hundreds of American willow herb yesterday afternoon in lovely sunshine, but this morning we're back to grey, and a brisk SW wind, bringing light rain by evening. I should be able to finally remove all traces of 'No mow May' before then, so folks holidaying here soon can pitch tents!
I'm clean out of sitooteries now, so here's a picture of Navelwort, so you can marvel at the sheer tenacity of some species. Not hard to see how it got its name!No running for buses, wort. You're nearly over the op and it's not worth it. Don't ask how I know or what was stitched-up!

good morning everyone,
I wasn't around at all yesterday so have caught up this morning. So much going on!
Dusty I am sure you'll present the correctly phrased report to the council after Bat Woman' report has been reviewed
Sorry to read about lingering migraine PP - they can be horrid things but it sounds like you've managed them for a while and have them licked into shape. I suffered from them over a very few stressful years but thankfully I've not got that level of stress in my life anymore (bye bye ex-H) so have had quite a few years migraine-less.
YBE I love your full avatar! Never seen that before so it made me smile. Did you get to the bottom of the patio shenanigans??
I love the idea of nesting robins Farway, I'm holding off cutting my privet hedge until after the 31st August so the birds can fledge. Causes me a bit of a (first world) "problem" as I'm hosting a party for my Mum's birthday next Thursday in the garden and the hedge is it is safe to say a bit raggy.
I daren't look at seed catalogues yet I am afraid. I know that I will be full of confidence that I can grow all exotic species and will fail miserably next year. So I have decided to start small next years and only grow what I think I will succeed at - carrot, garlic, salad, cosmos are faves at the moment!
Thank you for the positivity about the brick sets - I have now lugged almost a ton of Scottish cobbles and filled in the gaps and I think my mistakes are less obvious!! I mean....I know they're there but I will just ignore them!
The pot is a plastic one I picked up from H0mebase Wort - I'd unsuccessfully tried to bid on an old dolly tub (an auction was held locally to support the 2 churches in local posh town). £32 and I googled how to drill a hole and fit the pump. I definitely made a blooper which necessitated the pot draining out and my having to safely secure a wider piece of hose over the original short bit (rooky error and only I am aware of it!!).
Here is a pic of the area after watering my plants this morning.
I spotted an almond on my little tree this morning too - am now going to google how to harvest and preserve it
I went out brambling last night and made 8 jars of jam - it tastes quite delicious but is definitely more "coulis" than jam. Have decided I will use it as a dip for my toast instead!
And finally, I spent time with my aged Mum yesterday - she has dementia which can make things quite challenging but she was on top form yesterday and she adores R0meo. Here he is waiting patiently for her to give him toasted teacake!
Oh and I almost forgot, I slept really well last night which is unusual for me but I took this pic of the sunrise out of my bedroom window - I turned over and went back to sleep but felt very happy catching such a lovely start to the day.
Have a fab day everyone,
WM

Brightish, cloudy with a wild wind. Could be southerly but the weather vane is wizzing around in different directionsMore beans and broccolli last night and more beans growing.............chucking buckets of water over them seems to have helped at last but not sure I'm winning against the black and whitefly. It's war out there!May pull out the first lot of beans for more brassicas, they haven't coped with the dry and shade from so much cloud this summer.Inventive Farway
I've been known to drag the postman, policeman anyone tall passing when I'm in a dilemna.
Could you just drop in and fix my jammed CD tray please?Still no car, not sure that no news is good news right now. Nothing I really want at the 2 car yards and I'm reluctant to buy something cheap again right now. Desperate to get out and see the world again. My interest in doing house stuff has waned to the point of vanishing so going to research some buses and walks again see what can be fixed. The garden is at the end of fruiting because of the dry, heat, moisture mix so I'll do something with that. May get a second crop if it rains properly. There's wisteria blooming again when it shouldn't, my winter japonica has bloomed 3 times this year it's so confused and of course, the autumn cyclamen so it's not just me that's confused.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Gorgeous pics, WM, your garden looks really lovely. I'm wondering if it's Scottish cobbles that we've got in our garden because they look similar. Beautiful sunrise, definitely worth being awake for. And what a handsome dog - is he just a puppy?? Hope the party next week goes well.
Farway, that did make me laugh about the police kicking down the door and a white tent in the garden
I'm not sure if your local Fire Station do free home checks for fire alarms, even replacing old ones if necessary. We have to have expensive wifi interlinked alarms in Scotland, which we asked our expensive electrician to install (won't make that mistake again)...
Dusty, you still have no car and I still have no phone...Maybe tomorrow...
I love the pic of the Navelwort - I've seen similar here on walls and have always thought I should take a pic. Is that a house it's growing on?? I like the look of it, whatever it is.
Fingers crossed for your car, twopenny.
You've reminded me about the cyclamen pot I bought late last year (??) from Home Bargains - it's on the front step and hasn't been watered in months - I wonder if I move it to where it gets rained on it'll start to sprout?? I hope so because I love them.
Hope you've got the water bill resolved, YBE. I forgot to say about you walking Handsome doggy. I think I'd quite like that as a wee job, as long as no poop scooping was involved, because that's another thing that gives me the boak. I'm absolutely fine with cat poo, but dog poo makes me retch. I'm glad you enjoyed those two programmes, I don't know when the next episodes are, but it doesn't matter because we'll probably watch them on catch-up anyway. I'll have a look for the teenage fraudster one as that sounds interesting.
It's stopped raining for now, but still looking dreich out there. Actually, scrap that, it is still raining...'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Had to pop back to say how lovely your garden looks, WM, your hard work is showing rewards for sure.I think one extra skill you need is chainsaw carving, then you can make the trunk down the bottom into a Totem pole, like this one at WisleyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8
