Back to normal after Volunteer leaving do yesterday PM, I don't have diabetes, but with all the cake I scoffed I may be on a slippery slope. Anyway, all went well, and I was Mingling with the Stars.!Fred Dineage, who lives locally, came along as well, nice fella, even gave me a steadying hand out of my chair. How! You may ask?Sunny start this morning, but not watering due to Thursday rain, may have to later if sun keeps goingMy sweetcorn now has cob tassels as well as the male bits, fingers crossed the weather holds for a few days and pollination takes placeAnd, Ta Ra, my very late addition courgette has a male flower, as usual no females yet.The MSE matrix is still playing around, Vanilla warning appearing.I also know name of your plant YBE, never grown them because I don't think I've the right conditions, look very exotic though.Snails get everywhere, I tried for a photo, but failed, of snail trials in the sunshine right up my neighbour's eaves, plus I keep finding them in my garage stuck on the walls, I lob those back among the nettlesThe old folk road signs, I never understood all the fuss, a bit like the kids going to school one, but I suppose moaners gotta moan.My seeds arrived, one of today's' jobs is sowing some Kong coleus. These are mine, £11 + £1.95 PostThe tomatoes I was going to buy anyway as I realised I did not have any bog-standard size ones, especially pleased with the Kong coleus, normally £4.99 for a packet of ten seeds, which is why I bought two.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

Ooh good seed hauls. I need to use mine up so I can save a bunch of money buying more in the promotions
My exotic looking flower made me smile when I saw the packs in Lidl, they were only cheap you're right Dusty, and I planted the lot so we'll not have to have a harsh winter ever again.
Bob the Builder is here, getting cracked on too. So I'm chai wallah (not wallah but I don't know what girl is) ..wallahette..? D'Duck says it's larhki. Wonder if that's where we get lackey from?
I haven't seen those old folk signs before, they made me chuckle!
Bit of a battle doing this post, I keep getting Vanilla nonsense when I save draft, so that'll be it.
Cool and kinda cloudy here now. It was beautiful first thing - not a bad sunrise, a bit insipid maybe, but quite AutumnalI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Oh and BeechGrove was alright last night cos it was a good combo of people. Calum and the scots lass on site, then over to George in his garden. I didn't think much of his sitooterie I have to say
Bit worried he's poorly actually...

2P, I like that robin teapot. Thy say the same about robins in wales too, or parts of wales anyway, namely my sister and cousins housesFarway, that shotgun cartridge tractor starting was hilarious. And for some reason, having heard the Irish accents, I imagined it to be the kind of thing ybe would do..or cissie...ybe, nice paws on that mugh but I'm not sure I want to be fingering what's under the handle every time I would pick it up...and your avatar is my sister...Don't know your plant, looks a bit like an orchid though in the middle.Dusty, i do like a lichen covered wall, very pretty navel sproutings. I did laugh at hands and feet intact too. Probably the reason I haven't got a chainsaw.wm, lovely sunrise! perhaps you could sort your bricks otherwise ybe's head might xplode...nice cobbles too. Good luck with clearing the garden, don't fixate too much on it being perfect, as long as the grass is mown and the plants are alive [mostly] it'll be fine.Nuffin much going on in garden land..All things are getting watered mostly, I've been picking courgettes and tromboncini, and tomatoes [ made a pasta sauce with some last week] and the apples are getting bigger, or two of them are anyway, they are quite large. They never did lose the red colour they were as applets..[?] Building still going, at roof level now with the wooden things on top on the edges, steels coming next week but they'll only be here Monday, so I htink I get a bit of a break...Being 'on' all the time is tiring. I tried ot explain the steps I want out the back door yesterday, everyone gave me blank face because I don't want the normal two little steps down. Good ot hear your planning is batless too Big D [ trying out new nicknames?] and impressed with your seed haul Eff Meister...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

I haven't watched any of this year's Beechgrove, I'm still on catch-up from years ago. Hope George isn't poorly.
That flower is very exotic looking - really nice - I'll have to keep an eye out in Lidl. Is it in a pot or in the ground??
Kitty is looking a bit on the rough side, or is it just his age??
They're really good seed hauls, Dusty and Farway. Hope that mushroom is edible, Dusty, I don't want you getting organ failure!!
My phone finally arrived yesterday afternoon. I went to charge it and found that I needed a USB-C, which I didn't haveI'd just ASSumed it would be the same charger as my old phone... so I had to wait for DH to finish work to pick one up for me... more bloomin' expense. Anyway, it's up and running now. I took a selfie as my first photo and was horrified at how clear the pic was - shows all my wrinkles and freckles - not flattering at all - I'll have to start using filters
It's a bit grey today, with light rain forecast. I was freezing last night and wishing we'd put the fire on.

It went into last night's stir-fry, and we're all fine.
DD put mushroom spawn there about 10 years go and we always have a few.
On the subject of filters, I miss the 'thinnify' button on the first photo editing program we had. Worked a treat.I see the pterodactyls are flying south on the poster you added to remind us autumn isn't far away. I prefer to remember that autumn proper doesn't happen till November here. Some of our best walks have been in September and October, when it's still warm and the grockles have mostly departed."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Got off bum and picked more blackberries, and I have two ripe apples, first this year, spotted as I was getting the blackberries, just had to look hard and they fell off the treeI'll put them into the blackberries when I stew them, maybe my first HG crumble of 2024 crumble folks?Plus planted out the final broad beans for this year, the ones started on kitchen roll & potted on, may not amount to much, but I have spaceI may have the first glimmer of blightMy Veranda Red was a bit sad looking, and close inspection revealed a few clues. Uprooted & binned the plant, it had provided me with ripe toms so not wasted.Checked the other plants and seem OK, took some iffy leaves off just in caseGood luck with phone PP, the DGDs had a spell of filtering themselves into animals. I suppose it's the modern equivalent of drawing moustaches on, but some I see posted online are just plastic faces
, do the posters really believe anyone fall for it?
Now good news after the blight, my fig ripened, so I scoffed itAs you can see it did crack, but was wasp & fly free with the net sock onEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8 -
I was at the Market this morning, and my friend Dave had ripe figs at £4 a kilo. I was tempted, thinking they'd make a great photo, but only for a moment. After all, you guys know I only had 2 figs this year, and one spoiled while my back was turned!Might take a few tomato pics though.
'Sue's Best Ever' are getting interesting now.
I'm not sure who Sue is, but her fruits are generously proportioned and abundant.
I may need to reinforce Mrs Dusty's tomato framework.
