Thanks LOADS for this One-Eye. I'm sure it will be really helpful to MSE and to the comper who takes on the role of working with MSE on this.

I would suggest that folk should feel free to add anything else to One-Eye's list by posting about it in this discussion thread.

I would add the facility to click on a user's name/profile and see when/where they last posted - with an opt out option for anyone who wants to.

Post numbering - Each post in a longer thread needs to be numbered. Posters like to refer to other posts by number (eg. answers in post #124)

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else; but I'm missing the ability to bookmark just one post (numbered) i.e. someone may have posted a work around for something and I used to be able to Bookmark/Favourite just that post (rather than the whole thread)?

The time stamp on any post is the link to that particular post.
eg. on your post above, in the teal bar, it says "Today at 1:56PM" (tomorrow it will say 21 October at 1:56PM). You can click on that, or right click and "open link in new tab" and then Bookmark/Favourite it or whatever you want.
Thank you One-Eye, these are the things we need to find out to enable us to work with the forum as best we can

It could just be a coincidence or a figment of my imagination, but I swear I was able to post a number of comps in succession this evening without getting the usual spam block on my account. I kept waiting for it to happen, but it didn't. It's quite possible that I was just tired and slower than normal of course!

The time stamps on your posts tonight seem to be at least 2 minutes apart. The last actually known spam block was for 2 posts made within 90 seconds.

I hate to mention the word, but haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, and it's getting very close ..........................advents.

The A: was introduced recently that worked really well for sorting - can that be done on the new forum?  Or are there any other methods to identify them?

EEK! that's the second time someone's mention the 'A' word to me in a few days! I'm still trying to pretend it's all ages away ;)
