NST October The Turtles Go Outward Bound

Yesterday was another day in the yard. A lot less wet and muddy but somewhat frustrating. Got the new cover over the old polytunnel frame then found it was inside out (wondered about the lack of bits to tie it onto the frame). Back after lunch to try again and new cover seems to be a bit smaller than the old frame. Started to move plants across without the cover on but unsure - I really do need some cover both for the plants and to do things like painting. May have to build the new frame now.
Mum was surprisingly approving and made tea for us both (I'm still holding out on buying more food until she says it's okay, I think she's rationing her bananas - her cheese supply will run out next). No sewing, just reading and rescuing a few cute animals and fiends (no energy left for much more).
Grateful for yummy tea, being able to move and do things (still resting lots in between), finally getting through to the pharmacy to order my repeat prescription, home remedies. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -

Hi I'm afraid I have to retract my NSD from yesterday so am back down to 9, but I have an other problem? Can I live on £3 a day for the next 10 days? Based on my budget I should have £100 left, but they're nowhere to be found as paid up big one on Tuesday (basically it's the £140 I paid for getting a local documents appointment for my citizenship) , and I don't want to come out of the month with empty pockets. So I figure I can pinch £30 but can I do it? Now it's out there. I know a lot of you can, but I still have a way to go before getting super scrimp status and the young one eats for 2,5 yesterday he decided to do rugby training after his rowing training just for fun. So healthy calories required!
Anyways enough about food. I will try. But might have to start by getting some coffee at Ald1 later. Still at home with a sore throat and a giant headache.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

£3.00 a day. That’s a very tough one. But. What have you got in your cupboard.? Pasta, rice.? How are you about doing vegetarian meals.? Could you make something out of the super six type thing.? You can make a chicken stretch out for days. I grew up living on mr Granny’s vegetable soup just after the war. It’s hard. You might not manage on such a tight budget but it’s amazing what you can do. Lots of people here who will give you a lot more advice than zi can.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9

I love Icyland's £3 bag of chicken drums or thighs, as they are just a bung-it-in-the-oven-and-just-set-a-timer thing and you get a lots of meals out if them. Plus bones for broth. Serve with bakes potatoes (cooked in the same oven) and veggies.

If it is just food, and not energy/heating, then 10 days is doable - breakfast porridge will set the boy up, hefty bag of potatoes will do a very large shepherds pie, baked potatoes, sausage and mash. Add a bag of onions and carrots will do a veg stew, sausage meatball and tomato pasta, bag of flour and some butter/spread = cornish pasties, plus any ends in the freezer and fridge, and tins and packets from the cupboard. Shop from home first, write down what you have, write down what you can make out of it, and only buy the things that you need to make those meals. You can bake lots of potatoes at the same time, and then put them in the fridge or freezer, then pop into oven (10 mins from fridge) to crisp them up again, or bung in the microwaveBeans on toast is a great meal! Packet/ tinned soup is fine. There is also a thread on the old school moneysaving board that was called 'Feed a family of 4 on £20' or some-such. A butternut squash is 69p in Aldee this week. There is a lot of eating on a BNS. You can do it!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today my AMAZING thing is that I have successfully grown an adult. DS1 is 18 today. Cake eaten, everyone happy.Received a surprise £50 cheque through the post. Yay me! Shunted it straight to savings. Out of sight, out of mind.I seem to have underspent the budget by £25 this week. Long may it continue. One day left of school before the half term hols in LeShire. Cannot happen too soon. I am going to celebrate tomorrow with a hefty veg stew and dumplings, and a ys boule loaf from the freezer, and then a wallow in the bathtub.I am really looking forward to turning off my alarm for 9 days.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
